  1. I Recently Bought a Quantum Energy PT 760 (my 2nd non shimano baitcaster) Now im looking for a rod to throw on that baitcaster. Im trying to try a different style because all my equiptment is shimano, so since you guys talk alot about quantum, pflueger, daiwa...etc , i figured i'll give that a try. I also threw 12 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid, I'll probably be using it for T-Rigs, C-Rigs, or Jigs Just throw some ideas, ill take anything but shimano since im trying something new.
  2. 7' MH Shimano Teramar (diamond wrapped) Shimano Trinidad 14
  3. That reel is amazing for the price.
  4. I've used the Lightning rod a few times and i would say its great for what your paying for. I also like the fact that its IM6 just like the shimano carbomax. That would be a nice upgrade from your sojourn.
  5. I would rather stick to something else. I've used it on a baitcasting reel and i spent more time fixing my backlashes then fishing. I had to respool to mono because i had no other flouro on me. The best flouro that has worked for me was P-Line Flourocarbon, Halo, and Gamma (expensive though). I would just stay away from vanish.
  6. Cant go wrong with the symetre
  7. Glad to hear this from someone. I felt left out because everybody else has quantums, daiwas, pfluegers, etc.... Hearing you mention all your shimano tackle made my day I feel the same way as you. But i'd also like to say all other high end euiptment is great but im in love with shimano.
  8. Well i went with the daiwa Zillion after all, he got it for me at $140.00 Yea this guy gets most brands not just daiwa its a huge huge huge variety mostly anything. Rods, reels, line, tackle, everything.. he works for the Maurice company. Thanks everybody for your honest opinion i really appreciate it.
  9. Thanks for the offer but I'm good friends with the fishing vendor who stocks up our store and he can get me anything at warehouse price. The Viento comes up to be 120 so its not much im paying. Im also getting the Quantum Energy PT, im trying to try different brands because i've only used shimano and plfueger. Thanks alot though
  10. Yea i would call shimano up first because BPS will have u call them anyways. But those werent refurbished right? I've never had a problem with any of my shimano reels, i would suggest you call them because they do a pretty good job replacing their items. Sucks that you dont live by them because it would of been free, im pretty sure their gonna charge you to replace it or fix it. Sucks to hear that especially for me that im a BIG SHIMANO FAN.
  11. I was looking through a few of my fishing magazines and i came across the daiwa viento. I read about it but reading isnt the same as using it. So i just wondered if anyone here owns one or has tried it out. If i get a lot of positives i will purchase it. Thanks Again in advance
  12. i also use 2 out and the rest in. I own like 7 shimano reels and they are all set up exactly the same. Shimano rocks
  13. ReelMech, I am fishing off the bank when i overhead cast. When i fish off the boat i don thave a problem because sometimes i use mono or flouro, but i have sufix braid 20# and 30# on 2 of my curado 100s and 50# on my pflueger trion. The 20# is what i normally use and is causing this problem. This has occured while throwing out crankbaits, texas rigged senkos, and a 3/8 jig. Lost em all on the cast. Ill try your advice and ill let u guys know if it worked out.
  14. what would the methods be? My friend has powerpro and i have sufix braid so i doubt its the braid, i do have my brake system pretty lose maybe thats it. I usually keep em pretty lose because i can get a farther cast. I just never knew this would interfere with braid.
  15. yea i got sufix braid, its not really a huge problem. I can cast that thing way out there. And yes your right, power is what makes this happen. I was just wondering if this was just me or if anyone else had the same issue. I can cast really far and accurate with sufix braid. The only thing is on overhead cast it will sometimes get stuck on the cast. I guess to avoid it ill try overhead casting real smooth.
  16. Sorry i forgot to mention i have it on a baitcasting reel. My friend has powerpro and he has the same problem, thats why i was wondering if it was normal.
  17. Seems like Im one of the few shimano lovers? I own 6 shimano rods Carbomax 7' Carbomax 6'6" Clarus 6'6" Clarus 7' Crucial 6'6" Compre 7' Had an Uglystick but i dont know i guess for me it wasnt working out on the hooksets. But its great for catfishing. I live 15 mins away from Shimano so all these rods i have i can take in and get them brand new for free if they break. I know not all of them have lifetime warranty but shimano still does it if you show up with your broken rod. I've only been there once, they have great equiptment.
  18. I was just wondering if anyone here had a problem with overhead casting with braid. I noticed that sometimes i would overhead cast and the braid would get stuck or knot up in the spool and it would either cause it to break off or birdnest. I also noticed when my friend would cast with alot of power it would do the samething Anyone have this problem or is it just me?
  19. same thing happened to me. I have sufix braid and the diameter is different then power pro. I also go by the diameter now and i compare to other lines i use to know what would fit best.
  20. yea, Im down in southern california, i can see how different our fishing is to the east coast. Our lakes are very different then out there. Most lakes here contain trout and catfish, bass is exceptional, but a few lakes down here are actual bass lakes but its a little drive to get there, but when ever i do go its great. Thats how i got hooked on bass fishing, im sorta new to bass but been fishing since a kid and saltwater used to be my favorite until i hooked my first bass.
  21. i got it thanks, so it has a little thicker diameter then other lines so thats why you guys use light line. This is how maxima runs 4# line has a .07 diam. and 6# has .09 diam. I'll give it a try on my other curado 100 to see how it works.
  22. Are u saying that 6# has the diameter of that, or it just holds up that strong? Im down in the west coast and down here Yo Zuri is something people dont use as much. Its kinda popular but most people i have met and talked to dont really use that. Im willing to try it on my baitcaster i have a curado 100, so i was wondering what the diamter would be for those lines u mentioned. RVRNR I have tried sufix elite and siege. To me they work fine i get very good casting with them. ON your spinning gear sufix elite works better because its just a little smoother. Has very low memory but then again you get a little stretch but the line is very strong, i lifted branches and moved my boat before snapping the line. Never tried yo zuri so cant help there.
  23. Just losen up the drag completely, same with the braking system get it pretty lose (turn the knob counter clockwise) Then just give it a nice medium cast with a medium retrieve. Thats all he told me, and thats all he did and that resets the drag. Now, all this was told to me so i havent tried it because my problem was me not having backing. But he said it really works, give it a try.
  24. I use a crucial H also, but i have a shimano curado 300. Calcutta only makes these sizes: 50, 100, 200,400,700
