  1. Glad you like it, I have 5 or 6 and love them. Greatest heavy duty low pro reels I have ever fished with.
  2. I can't stand either, neither of them are close by, and ordering online takes FOREVER. I order from Hooked Up Tackle, and if they don't have it, local shops.
  3. I've caught a few 3-6lb stripers on them and haven't had a problem at all, and the stripers fight a lot harder.
  4. That is exactly what everyone told me cart! The thing is that i use Gamakatsu SuperLine hooks and if i don't set the hook pretty hard they don't penetrate the fishes mouth! I lost many fish this way when i first switched to braid trying to not set too hard! Do you think it would be best to keep the rod and loosen the drag or get a rod with more give in the tip? I punch a LOT, I landed that 9lb4oz I posted up last week punching. Here's what I use and it has worked very well : Dobyns 805 Punch rod, Revo STX High Speed, and 80lb braid. I set the hook SOMETIMES, but only for fun, it's not necessary. I guarantee my hook is thicker and much beefier then the hook you're using, and all I have to do is reel up and the hook goes straight through the mouth. You're using braid, there's NO stretch, the hook will go through with basic reel up the majority of the time.
  5. The P17's are MUCH better then the Slydes IMO. The Slydes have hurt my face, and I have heard from a few other guys they found them rather uncomfortable too. The P17's are light, and you barely feel that they're on. I absolutely loved them til they flew off the boat.
  6. I've been fishing Dirty Jigs for a while now, and really like them. Originally I was tying my own, but the color combos he ties up are incredible. For a while they were tough to get as he made them per order for the most part. But now you can get them online at HookedUpTackle.Com which has made things much easier.
  7. I have 5 STXs and 0 SXs. I had an SX and sold it immediately. For some reason, I just couldn't cast worth a rats *** with it. Not sure what the SX is selling for, but STXs are only $120 right now which is INCREDIBLE for a new STX. If you were going to spend twice that for the Crazy Cranker Zillion, you could buy two STXS. I'd highly suggest a 7.1:1 reel. You can always reel slower, but there's a limit as to how fast you can reel.
  8. You move the jig on the bottom with your rod, not reel. Definitely give the revos a look, $120 for a new STX is a steal.
  9. I can't stand the Spro frogs. I've used them maybe twice ever, and hear quite a few stories about poor hook up. I have never had a single issue with a Snag Proof perfect frog, and would highly advise trying one. Keep one thing in mind, it's not ALWAYS your fault, or the frogs fault. There are times where the fish will only pop it in the air, or will try to only suck it down but miss the hooks. The time it is the frogs fault or yours, is when the fish fully takes the bait. If you hook a fish, you certainly should not lose it, that doesn't sound right. Make sure you're using the proper gear, 50-65lb braid (I use 65), a high gear ratio reel 7:1 will help but isn't a must, and also a good stout rod. I use a 7'3 6power (XH) rod. I also use an 8ft heavy rod for some frogging needs. Good luck.
  10. POWER PRO MAKES WHITE BRAID. I have it on quite a few reels. Grab yourself some and enjoy being able to see the line with ease.
  11. Not to burst your bubble, but it sounds like a HORRIBLE idea. The real was intended for cranking, not jigs. If the fish grabs the jig and runs at you, you have to crank like hell to reel in slack line before setting the hook. If you hook the fish, and she runs at you, you're busy trying to catch up with the fish so that you can keep there from being no slack line. If you get bit from far out, you need to reel in slack line before you set, you're wasting precious seconds. Can it be done? Sure. Is it a pain in the but, and will you miss fish, sure. Spend less then half the money and get a high speed Revo STX. More drag power, quicker retrieve, only $120. It can be done, but the technology these days have reels like 7.1:1 because of the advantage, so why not use them? It's definitely a handicap using a slow retrieve reel for jigs in my opinion.
  12. The hooks are now being sold with a different name. Paycheck Baits is now offering the SAME exact hook that Reaction Innovations is no longer carrying. Gamakatsu makes the hooks. They also sell the rebarb.
  13. Chatterbaits - Bobby D's are the best, but only sold around here. Second choice is definitely a Revenge chatterbait. Jigs- Check out DirtyJigsTackle, he just came out with a very sick swim jig. Great colors too. You can get both Revenge Chatter Baits and Dirty Jigs @ HookedUpTackle.Com
  14. Just to clear it up: There is no unediting. There is no secret way to get past a jpg edit.
  15. I wish RW! She had a belly too, which you can't see too well in the photos. I stupidly didn't get measurements, but she wasn't 12 unfortunately. Thanks for making me feel a little less bummed that she fell short of a DD! I thought she would go 10 1/2 when I pulled her up.
  16. It's not the body of water, it's the specific location. There's TWO issues with showing where bigger fish are being caught. The more important of the two for me, is bucket fisherman. On almost every body of water out here are a TON of bucket fisherman. They keep EVERYTHING they eat, and they use live bait. Live bait in areas where there's a large amount of quality fish, is not a good scenario. The second issue is I have 3 tournaments coming up this month, and would rather not have 20 baits from 20 boats hitting each spot because they know there's a big fish there. I understand in most states it may not be an issue, but a LOT of guys out here do it, because it is an issue. There are some photos I have posted where I haven't edited the pictures. My avatar is me holding a 13lber caught on the same body of water. But there's nothing very recognizable to where I think it would harm anything. I edit photos that I believe could give a spot away and potentially cause there to be guys out there catching and keeping. Hope this clears things up a little bit.
  17. I'd call Daiwa for the hell of it and see what they say. I have a older Daiwa Fuego that I am not the original owner of. I sent it in because of issues with the spool, they cleaned the reel, replaced the spool and bearings, all free of charge and didn't ask me to cover shipping at all. Daiwa has been great to me with customer service. I paid $6 shipping one way and got basically a brand new reel in return.
  18. As someone else posted, maybe he truly thought it was a 6.4:1 . I have 5 STXS, most of my gear ratio writing is warn off. I have all 7:1's but if I didn't, I'd probably be a bit confused. None the less, be the bigger man. Email me, tell him you got your money back but you'd still like the chance to return the reel, he just needs to cover the shipping.
  19. Not sure if you're taking a shot at me, but the answer is a LOT. Not sure if this isn't an issue in Texas, but here in Cali, it most certainly is. No need to post on a matter that you really don't understand. I've had a body of water RUINED from photos being posted. Actually, make that TWO bodies of water. As for the post above, I would love to see someone unedit the photo posted. If someone is going to be THAT desperate, and spend that much time, then they need all the help they can get.
  20. I haven't posted on here in a while, especially the outings section. To be honest, there hasn't been much for me to post. Bunch of 5 and 6 pounders, but just couldn't find the same quality that I was catching last year. Did finally manage one decent one the other day so I figured I'd post it up. She went 9lbs4oz. Dobyns 805 Punch Rod / Revo STX
  21. I have 2 Fuegos, and haven't noticed anything like this... Only problem I had with one of them was my spool, sent it into Daiwa and they replaced the spool and shipped it back all free of charge.
  22. Lot of people would disagree and say 7'10 and 8ft rods are the right size for frogging. It really depends on what's comfortable, but at the same time, the longer the rod, it definitely gives you a bit of an advantage.
  23. I agree, A LOT of what people suggest and give so much praise to, is in reality junk, or at least I think so. I have had ZERO success with some of the baits that guys rave about, and some of the stuff I just refuse to try. Every bit of advice on here needs to be taken with a grain of salt. There is not ONE superior reel, nor is there a 100% NO DOUBT ABOUT IT best rod. Some guys love Daiwa, others love Shimano. It just takes time, money, and fishing to figure out what you like.
  24. The colors from Reaction Innovations are very hard to compete with, but if price is your main concern, *** is definitely a good secondary choice.
  25. Ok before you bash anything, lets clarify. $300? No, under $240 for the Champion series. Non Fuji guides ? This was by choice, and is partly why the rods are a bit more money. The guides are lighter, smaller, and I absolutely love them over the fuji guides.
