NFC P700 for bfs
For hard baits, Duo spearhead 38 and 50S are favorites Zmann trd craws on 1/16 jig head for plastics. Light saltwater around oysters

Does anyone remember what each foot increase of rod length increases distance ?
Don’t leave out wind resistance and terminal velocity of different lures. Simple math…

Full cork or split cork?
Split grips wobble in the rod holders, drives me nuts

NFC P700 for bfs
For this rod 8-10lb braid with an FG to 15/20lb leader will be the norm

NFC P700 for bfs
Thanks all, just went and measured a rod, and it looks like it is a couple 4.5’s and then 4’s to the tip (comparing anglers resource height chart). tied an FG of 10lb suffix to 20lb fluoro and it seems to flow fine. I thought I had something with smaller guides, but maybe I imagined it as it looks like 4 is as small for Fuji KT or lb . I will give these a try.

NFC P700 for bfs
Thanks, I was looking at my jdm rods and think they are 4.5, but heck they could be 5’s. Outside diameter is 4.4. 5’s are probably a safer choice

NFC P700 for bfs
Well in my latest flyrod blank order, I stuck the X-Ray P700 in the cart. Probably should have gone with a proven blank, but wth. This will be my first bfs build. For guides does RV6, KB5, KB4.5, KT 4.5 to tip sound close? Not sure on the sizing between the small guides and couldn’t find a dimensional chart for some reason. 8lb braid with leader will be used on it. Thanks

Inshore bait casting
Diawa inshore, Shimano SLX, Curado etc make good options. I’d make the reel choice looking at what bait I want t throw and how far. Shimano has a Gulf caster that is nice as well as many budget friendly options from others. Sized again by your bait range.

Nasci FC 1000 reviews?
I have two nasci 1K and 3K. Both have been smooth in light saltwater. As mentioned, replaced the felt with smooth drag and a bit of grease. To me, the Nasci and spheros are the Shimano bargains.

Slc dc backlashishing
What line, lure, and rod and how hard are you trying to chuck it. I could blow mine up every time by trying to throw too hard with a light bait.

BFS Casting Reel - Your Line Choice
Suffix 832 10lb PP. 6lb only reason I had big spools of each… if you are trying to throw UL you need a really thin and light line as the air resistance makes a huge difference. 4-6g is where I tend to live and both do great. 2-1/2 is as low as I like. I tried 20lb Berkley, too heavy. Just bought some Varivas but haven’t spooled it yet.

Finesse baitcasting rigs
My take. Curado is a really nice reel for the price, with a lot of crossover usage. I can’t speak to any of the Chinese variants, but several of the YouTube bfs guys reviewed them. Rods, if you have any 3 power or light crank bait (with a soft tip for trebles) it will get you started. Heck any Ugly with a noodle tip will probably throw the light stuff. ymmv. Some of the saltwater trout rods also fit this niche nicely. I struggle with 1/16th hair jigs with any fast rod, but, young I am not. Since you already fish them, you have realistic expectations of how far a light fuzzy thing will cast. Probably the Phenix ML is the next rod for me to try. A lot of rods throw 4 grams total pretty well, 2 grams is a different story.

Curado BFS Reel Braid Pound Line Question
10 general purpose. If you are going ultralight lures, go down to six as every bit counts. I think 6lb PP or Suffix is equivalent diameter to 20lb JDM fancy lines.

So many baitcaster options...
SLX XT Tatula Curado 70 Curado BFS Zillion high to low grouping I think. If you are mainly throwing light range, focus on that. Curado + a phenix feather or a ML crankbait rod for a light tip with backbone. Ymmv. I like a bit softer rods in old age

Curado Bfs or something else
How light are you trying to throw and how deep of water and 8lb braid or mono? A lot of weightless baits are over 1/4 ounce, if that is the case, the slx is fine. Now a 1/16 rooster tail is a different animal. My Curado bfs casts much better than my slx. It doesn’t have enough line capacity to bomb a 1/2oz bait, but that is not its role in life. I have reels smoother than the Curado BFS, but at its price point, it is king. At this stage in life, I am not trying a KK Do they make a light weight spool for the slx.
