Good sign or Bad.
In that situation I like to try and throw something that resembles bait fish but don't match the color pattern. I try to throw something that'll stand out in that crowd of bait!

How/where do bass hit it?
On most of the reaction baits I've been told the head end but I'm not for sure about that completely. With a worm or jig I think they just suck that dude up off the bottom anyway they can get it!

Best post spawn strategies?
When those fish come off those beds and are really active I like throwing a buzzbait and flukes. Just something I like to do. Now as the water gets hotter I go deeper cause that's where the big girls usually go!

where do you come from
Broken Bow is an awesome lake. One of my favs. Extremely clear and DEEP! I like to fish up the river end as most do, but I've been able to catch fish all over. I like throwing a green jig with a green pumpkin trailer. Salt craws, and crankbaits have done me wonders over there as well. If you like to sight fish this is the lake to do it!

Quick Reference for dummies!!
Also keep a fishing log. When you find something that works record it in a notebook or something. Weather Conditions: 1.)Air temp 2.)Wind 3.)Barometer 4.)Type of sky (Overcast, Clear, Partly Cloudy etc..) Water Conditions: 1.)Water temp 2.)Clarity 3.)Water level 4.)PH levels General: 1.)Type of bait 2.)Type of structure fished 3.)Depth of structure and depth fish were caught at 4.)etc.... I started doing this and it really helped me out. It gave me a place to start when I hit the water!

where do you come from
Kingston, Ok. I live within a mile of the water on Lake Texoma.

Spawn question
It should be spawing time there if those water temps are in the lower 60s. Most of what I've seen and read is that the spawn really fires off when the water temps are in the mid to lower 60s.

Distance you Drive to Bass Pro Shops
Hey isn't the Cabelas opening up over in Ft. Worth off of 35 or is it opening in Denton? I keep hearing about it but I don't know my way around down there much and I'm wondering for sure where it's going to be. I heard it's going to be down by Texas Motor Speedway but I'm not for sure! If it is that would save me about 30 minutes off my drive down there!

Distance you Drive to Bass Pro Shops
I drive 2 hours to the one in Grapevine, Tx. I'm coming for Kingston, Oklahoma! They now have one in Oklahoma City but it's about the same distance but the one in Grapevine has a better selection.

The Hardest Question
Gitzit! Do you realize how many people in this world will look at ya funny when you tell them to try a Gitzit. I remember my dad and his buddies talking about them all the time, but now no one knows what they are. I've called them Gitzits all of my life and my buddies just look at me funny!

The Hardest Question
SWEET! ;D Now I just need to get myself down to Mexico where I've always wanted to go bass fishing! LOL!

East/West...Sun/Shade
It's going to depend on the current water temp and type of structure on each side. If the water is rather cool then they'll probably be on the west side where the water is going to warm quicker. Just depends on a lot of different factors!

The Hardest Question
I'm going to start out with a black and blue, or green pumpkin, or even a brown jig. I would say topwaters if it were overcast skys. Along with the jigs I'll probably throw a 10 inch T-rigged worms with a pegged wait. That way I can use the jig and worm to pick apart all the brush. Would also throw a spinnerbait around all the structure, and considering the depths I'd vary depths quite often with the spinnerbait. Steep bank like that I'm betting you could parallel the bank with different depth running crankbaits also.

What do yall do ????
I look for both really. Mainly the first thing is find where the contour of the bottom makes a drastic change. Then I'll fish that and also try and locate structure on the change. Alot depends of what type of bank is it. If you know its a rocky bank then I just start fishing it. If it's clay or dirt bank I'll look for structure or sometimes try and locate baitfish. Finding the noticealbe bottom contours is just where to start. After you find those you have to hunt and peck to try and establish a pattern. If you've been on fish in the shallow water. Then start on the contour changes with the same baits and presentations that you were catching them on before the change in water level. Like I say these are your starting points. After that it's up to you to let the fish tell you what they want and how they want it!

The Hardest Question
That's the main reason I use them on this lake. Use them to find deep structure such as ledges, humps, brush piles, etc.. and for the water temp. Now on other lakes that don't have the schooling fish such as stripers, hybrids, and sand bass (White bass) I'll use my electronics to locate fish as well as baitfish.

What do yall do ????
May not be able to help with the lake being a TVA lake but the lake I genrally fish is Texoma in Oklahoma. The Corps of Engineers are always flucuating the water level quite a bit. If the lake was above normal when the water starts falling then fall back out to the old water line, or the water line where it is when the lakes at normal level. If the lake was at normal level and then started falling I'll drop back to the next significant depth change, such as a steaper sloping point, ledge, etc... Nick was saying when the water rises the fish move up which is true. One thing here that I've noticed is that when the lake first comes up the fish will nose up on the bank into the new grass and other structures. One thing many people don't realize is why after a few days the fish move off even when the water is staying high. Well talking with a biologist here, he says that the newly flooded grass will sour and the fish will pull out of it. Once it's soured for a while and if it remains underwater the fish will move back into that flooded grass again. Hope this helps ya some.

The Hardest Question
Hey Roadwarrior, About electronics. I use my quite often to locate underwater structure, and sometimes baitfish. The problem I run into on Texoma is that most of the time if I'm trying to fish open deep water, I'll mark fish and baitfish but 99.9% of the time I'm getting eat up by stripers. Which is fine for that but not when I'm bass fishing. Do you run into this problem any? If so what are some of the things that you try and do to distinguish between what should be largemouths, and smallmouths and what should be stripers?

Boat question.....
Turn the tail of the fin to the left, I believe. You may have to run it a few times to get it set exactly where you want it. But that's definitely the problem, you just need to adjust it!

Hey JT...
Good luck! I know what ya mean about women being so close to family! It's cost me a couple of possible wives. LOL!

Hey JT...
Does she like the snow or something! LOL! That's where I would start. It rarely snows here. Tell her something about no snow that would benefit her. Don't tell her that, "Hey less snow and ice mean more time on the water!" LOL Otherwise she might beat ya or something! LOL!

Hey JT...
Won't let yo move to Alabama or Texas? > Well I don't know about Alabama but you should just tie her up and come to Texas. After she's been in Texas a little while she'll come around! LOL! ;D

Happy with your Merc outboard?
I love Mercurys and despite just normal things that are going to happen I'm very pleased. With that being said I'm looking heavily into this new Evinrude E-tech. I've always like Evinrudes as well and that's what my dad has on his guide boat. But this new E-tech is a 2-stroke that is supposed to out perform any 4-stroke on the market. 3-years before your first scheduled maintenance. All kinds of good stuff I'm hearing about his motor. So you might wanna look into that if it's an option for you!

Tips for hot water ?
In my experiences when fishing hot water you need to go deep. Find cooler water if there is any in a powerplant lake. This fish are usually more active there. I'd try topwaters early then go to a C-rig or T-rigged worm and go deep.

My Formula For Success
Ok I won't say it, BUT it's true! LOL! I praticed my pitching in my backyard alot when I was learning. I would get outside and set me up several coffe cups at different distances and start trying to pitch into them. Do that in your spare time instead of watching tv or whatever. LOL! It works and pratice makes perfect so they say!

Ever have this happen?
Best day of bass fishing I ever had was on a day like this. Me and a buddy of mine were fishing our very first tournament. About 9 in the morning a good strom blew in and we headed for cover. It was lighting, raining and even a little hail. It was all over by 9:45 and back out we headed. From 10 until 2 o'clock we caught a fish on very cast or very other cast on a stretch of bank about 100 yards long. There was a really stong wind after the strom and it was blowing right into this bank. Awesome number of fish that were up on that bank. We were young and didn't know anybetter and weren't reting after a few fish. Well this led to us breaking off our two big fish that we hooked. We still managed to finish 12th place out of 108 boats that day. We've been hooked ever since!
