  1. Weightless plastics like senkos and flukes. Topwater if using braid to leader or mono line. I have a few 6'10" range rods that see jerkbait use early spring then then switch to skipping plastics and topwater.
  2. The levante JBS is quite stiff and is more of a M+. I do a ton of skipping and casting of weightless plastics and prefer a mod fast 6'10" medium rod. Its perfect for me. Anything from a walmart lews HP to an expride and they work great. I think the slower loading of the rod makes it a better skipping rod.
  3. I also like how some of their older reels had screws that threaded into the top of the posts through an aluminum side plate for double support on the posts. Those things were not moving.
  4. Same. Crunchy and raspy bearings are a pain to locate and deal with. I prefer to keep my bearing count to a minimum on my workhorse reels. On the fancy stuff I can tolerate more preventative maintenance. A tatula isn't a street. It just needs to work.
  5. I want to buy this rod so bad with my bass pro gift cards. I can never find it in stock there.
  6. Anyone have this rod? I'm thinking about getting one for plastics and 3/8 ounce jigs. What's the balance like with a 6 ounce reel? Will it float tip up?
  7. The tatula ct frame was in response to the complaints of the tatula being too wide and is from around 2016 I believe. They have since thrown "ct" on a number or reels. Maybe the term goes back even further and daiwa is recycling registered names.
  8. Also the tatula 150 is an older daiwa reel design. It's a 2013 reel that is pretty much unchanged today. The only thing I find disappointing is that in 10 years they only managed to add a longer handle and new paint. I would like a double supported pinion in what they call an "HD tatula" these days. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwatatula.html
  9. Are these fish pulling drag instances occurring on hooksets?
  10. If the rod isn't forgiving enough for big baits with trebles then switch to mono. I like 20 lbs big game.
  11. They pull down when when you hoist them put of the water like a caveman and wonder why your rod just exploded.
  12. Somebody left some rods out on deck for a photo shoot. Looks like production type test mules that he forgot were top secret. For those that are really bad a Where's Waldo the new rods are the cork grip rods with the silver blanks in the rod locker pic. Also there is a spinning rod on deck with a silver to black fade that also has cork grips. https://www.bassmaster.com/gear/slideshow/inside-elite-boats-cory-johnston/
  13. The big difference is that the tatula 200 takes the arbor down to the spool shaft which boosts its capacity. A tatula 150 is more comparable to a curado 200k in spool dimensions and capacity. The tatula 200 is slightly larger diameter at 36mm too but that doesn't really add much capacity on its own. Its the loss of the magZ and small arbor that really boosts the capacity of the 200 making the more like older daiwa 300 capacity reels like the lexa 300.
  14. I still see the thread. Speculation is that its a DC reel based on the price and the photo is an "example image" according to digitaka?
  15. Cork grips with a black reel seat. The blank is two tone silver to black fade.
  16. Either way if you ordered from the kastking official store then you have basically ordered from the best vendor on the site. You'll be fine.
  17. Aren't the MGL spools "magnum lite spools" and just ported aluminum?
  18. They are that slow. Like a month or more.
  19. This. It just works and if something goes wrong I'm not losing my bait. I'll also use it as a leader when using braid as a main line. It stands up to the shock abuse well with its high elasticity. To me this is the purpose built use case for the line. Big baits and big game.
  20. I can only speak to the lews hank parker walmart rods. I have the 610 medium rated 3/16 to 5/8 ounce and its very similar to my 610 mod fast zodias but just a hair softer. It's a very nice budget 610M rod.
  21. Lock down on reels with 9 lbs of drag worked for me for years without any slip. 13 or whatever the tatulas have is more than enough. You might be able to get that to slip if you yank and rip at the fish like a lunatic while its pinned sideways against a log but that would be the angler pulling drag and not the fish. Fish like a normal person and everything will be fine.
  22. It has a very pronounced tapered line lay from the ABS spool.
  23. Then the tatula 150 or the tranx/curado 200 are excellent choices.
  24. How long until the board is inundated with " my tatula lays line too far forward" issues from the tapered ABS spool? I remember that being an issue with the fuego lt reels. There was thread after thread to complain and fix the intentional tapered line lay of the ABS spools by adding a shim or something to counteract the intentional tapered line lay.
