  1. You could also try one from a doybns maverick or kastking crixus reel since they appear very similar but aren't the same platform. This is one of the problems with oem reels. Once the brand name on the outside that sold you the reel stops supporting it then you are left in the dark. Looks most like a zpi alcance, savage gear sg or kistler reel platform or from the same oem as those reels but its not a match. Tough one. You'd just the throwing money at random knobs from reels that sort of look like yours. Do you have other reels to try out knobs from? Just to eliminate which brands don't fit.
  2. Forbidden chinease amazon like site. Moderation likes to not have users mention sites to buy items which is fair considering its their platform and if sites aren't going to pay to use the platform then users shouldn't be doing it for free. Personally, I would just get gomexus tpe knobs to replace the foam ones and keep the handle. They feel similar in shape but better because of the tpe. Also why does your wife's cat think it's a dog? That's dog like damage. Cat needs a cat toy to beat the crap out of.
  3. If you haven't fished the lews hank parker rods then try one out. They are better blanks than the sg1 rods I think after owning both.
  4. Correct but op is looking for a reel to use with a frog rod. Looking forward to adding a tatula 300 this year.?
  5. This. But as a leader to braid so you can do it all.
  6. I would get the tatula 150 at most. The 200 has a deeper spool that is not going to cast a frog as well as the 150. The 200 is the better big bait reel of the two though. I personally prefer the elite as a frog reel and you can get a faster gear ratio. They run $180 on an overseas site.
  7. Until they take that away. "Sorry per our arrangement with shimano we can no longer sell to overseas customers".
  8. Tatula 200 has nearly double the capacity of the 200k. The tatula 150 is more similar in capacity to the 200k. Both are great choices.
  9. That's how the brakes work. Different tools for different jobs. The sv boost zillion spool is better at this and is more free casting at the end but not as much as a centrifugal. It kind of sits between but still does everything you want from an sv spool.
  10. Yes and the forbidden chinease amazon site. They are called "diy spools".
  11. They all fade. Also don't use line conditioner on them. That makes the color run faster.
  12. Remove the knob and inspect the washer within. It is likely that the previous owner used it like a brake and this has dented the washer inside. I'm not sure what the home remedies are but if it appears dimpled then remove it and beat it flat or flip it and crank back down on the knob. Personally I'm a zero adjust guy on all reels. Set to remove side to side slop and then adjust it zero times ever again.
  13. I've heard it said more than once that the aird x rods run a little soft and that the 7'3" is more of a MH+.rod. A great addition to your line up for sure but I don't think it'll be a flipping stick. Definitely let me know if you get one. What about the vengeance 7'6" heavy? I handled one a year or two ago at a walmart. It seemed like a reasonable flipping stick. I recall the tip was more mod-fast and a tad softer than the hank parker MH. I didn't pick it up because I had no idea of these were any good or sensitive rods.
  14. I forgot my "popper" rod is a 6'6" medium berkley lightning rod. I got it when I broke the tip off my mojo topwater XF rod in a freak car door incident. The lightning rod has a similar soft XF tip and short handle. It works a popper almost in place like the mojo. It does not cast as well as the mojo. The super soft and fast tip doesn't really blend into the blank as well as the mojo so it kind of lob casts on open water with bigger topwaters. It has the tip, backbone and handle length of the XF M topwater mojo but all the peices don't come together as well as that rod so its not as well rounded. It was a lot cheaper and it is hard to make a smooth casting XF rod. For poppers casted towards the bank up to 5/8 oz it works great.
  15. The likelihood of getting hit with duty fees is extremely unlikely and even if you did you are saving $200+ leafbucks.
  16. What are your surprisingly good cheap rods and reels you have found? Rods that cost less than $60 and reels under $100. These are the ones I'll be fishing next season. I only have experience with the silver lews hank parker MH rod but it has been really good. Its a stiff MH like the gen 1 veritas MH if anyone remembers that rod. A MH broom handle with a very stiff and slow tip. It fishes like a heavy and is one of the few MH rods I can use for 1/2 oz jigs and frogs. The other being that gen 1 veritas. It has really good sensitivity too. You know how you grab a cheap combo rod like a lews fire and it feels really heavy and "jiggly". Like it's more resin then carbon cloth in construction. Yeah, that's NOT how these lews hank parker rods feel. They feel and fish like what I would expect from a $80-$100 rod. I swear these walmart lews hp rods are using $89 speed stick blanks or the same material and construction. Really slept on rods. Go to your walmart and handle one. I also have the medium hank parker rod but haven't used it yet. It seems like a really nice medium mod fast rod with good backbone. It balances on the decorative metal ring in front of the nut with a 5.5 oz reel. Cork is really bad though. I wish they would have kept the foam from the early series. I'm going to like this one for weightless plastics and jerkbaits. It's a slightly more powerful medium which I hope allows it to do some of the lower end of what I would use a MH rod for since the MH of the line is such a broom handle. The big one with the swimbait is an sg1 speed stick. Unfortunately this one feels exactly like one of those cheap heavy, jiggly combo rods but extra heavy powered. The ability to throw up to 3oz with the rod for $50 is what makes the 7'4" special as a short swimbait rod for fishing big baits target casting. This rod needs a 10 ounce reel to balance out to what I find acceptable to work a glide. You could get away with lighter if you are just going to crank tip down. I would avoid the rest of the line though and opt for a hank parker rod if you don't want the big rod. What have you guys been using? What's the gem of a $50 flipping stick? I'll add that my assessment of the lews hp medium is by comparing it to my old zodias 6'10" medium. It feels like that rod but with a smidgen softer tip. I'm curious to see if this is the $50 shimano 610 medium rod.
  17. True but the culprit of rapidly becoming geary or geary out of the box is often a pinion bearing or handle shaft bearing. It's always worth an inspection or part swap if you keep them on hand.
  18. I wouldn't pay full price for one. Too close to zillion money.
  19. A honda element for kayaks, mtbs and camping in. Going to mount rods to the headliner this season and get a cot for it. An old f150 for the boat. Occasionally an old forester but thats more of a winter car and project car. It used to be the fishing rig until I got the element. Not my element but you get the idea. Big inside but small on the outside.
  20. The inside one around the bearing is the centrifugal race. The white tabs are the centrifugal brakes and bottom of them is pushed onto the "brake pipe" centrifugal race in the center as they fly out on the cast. The top part of the brakes swing out and this makes the bottom part contact the race since they are hindged in the middle. How many brakes are on or allowed to swing? Two on and two off with zero spool tension is about right for those reels. You also have am external dial that moved the tapered brake pipe or drum in and out. In = higher number ans larger diameter centrifugal race for more braking. Out = smaller number and a smaller diameter centrifugal race. When I had one I used braid and ran two brakes on, zero spool tension and around 5 on the brakes. Below 3 would blow up on me.
  21. The hook up gave a compelling argument as to why that rod is awesome. Is it worth it?
  22. Plenty of people pitch with that reel. It's compact but tough.
