  1. That's basically every daiwa. For what a us tatula flip and pitch costs I would get a jdm zillion hd.
  2. How is the balance on that rod? Tip up work ok?
  3. Short rods to throw up to 4 oz are fairly common in the japanese market. Getting a rod to you for $200 is a other issue entirely. The US market is going to be scarce because we prefer longer rods. You might have to go the custom rod route. Also for 2 oz baits a12-13" handle length is great but for 4oz you need a longer handle to swing the bait without fatigue.
  4. You appear to be missing some shims.
  5. I take 4 and they vary depending on what I want to cast. I could take more in a rod rack but I can't have anything sticking up behind me while I'm casting. I cast at all sorts of angles skipping cover and can't have anything back there so the rods get layed out in front.
  6. Megabass p5, jdm steez and posion glorious are all awesome. Conquest if I want a posion glorious stylized by the amish.
  7. Rod too wimpy? There are other bfs rods and even other trout rods which sounds like what you have.
  8. 1/16 oz drop shot on a baitcast setup is a heck of a rabbit hole to go down. You really gotta want to go down that hole and seems like OP really hasn't given it much thought. To me, that means he's not ready.
  9. You can do this. I do this. You clearly don't have a firm grasp of what you are wanting to do if you are asking if a M/H rod is appropriate. I suggest you stick to spinning gear for now.
  10. I do this when a big fish dives under the boat and my rod loads. I can't follow the fish so something has to give. Sometimes its my drag but sometimes it doesn't budge so I hit the clutch and play out some line with thumb pressure and then turn the handle and pump the rod to get the fish back up. I want some give in the system when my rod is loading and the fish is trying to run.
  11. Shallow spools are all about low rotational mass from reduced line capacity. This is beneficial when casting and pitching lighter weight baits. It is not beneficial for umbrella rigs, heavy bait pitching and swimbaits. I would get something like the bass-x 710 but in a higher st croix line if for a punching/umbrella/swimbait rod. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewstcroixbac710hf.html
  12. If they want $20 shipping then you can get the same thing off the chinese amazon like store or ebay without large shipping costs.
  13. Is the line breaking or is the knot coming undone?
  14. What a skipping machine.
  15. Size and weight. The zillion is taller with a 34 mil spool vs the 30 of the steez ct. The steez ct is more alphas sized than zillion sized.
  16. Zero. Same as any other reel. All my reels are zero adjust.
  17. I long cast and skip neds with casting gear. I like the way it handles 10 lb flouro better for me than spinners I crank and glide mine or dead stick when skipped under cover. I also prefer a casting reel when my primary means of moving the bait is cranking on the handle. If I fished them more as a bottom contact then I would prefer spinning so I could hold a spinning rod with an overhand grip and jig the bait but I have muck bottom lakes. If it touches bottom it comes up a slime ball.
  18. You can't trust reviews. Too many are fake or produced by the company itself. Key phrases are "casts a mile" or "super smooth". Vague undefined terms that can be thrown around without fear of being called out and can be defined to whatever the person wants them to suit any argument. Ie: "you don't think 40 yards is a long cast?" Or "What do you mean its not smooth it doesn't lock up" *posts pic of a fish caught as counter argument to claims of the reel not being smooth* We saw this alot with the kastking shills.
  19. Welcome to zero spool tension. It's a good thing.
  20. The $289 plastic reel is molded in the USA in Texas.
  21. You will pay full retail off tackle warehouse and be happy
  22. How does it feel different? Smoothness? Thats a variable even among the same reels although there may be a deffence in gear material. With the 50 reel the core had hardened gearing to "better suit the harder hooksets of american anglers" and this was thrown around to explain why the core 50 was less smooth than the aldebaran 50 or so I have read .
  23. 6 punders don't pull drag either. I got one last night on a popper and it went every which way by the boat but couldn't get 2 to 3 lbs of drag to budge.
  24. Also this. The HD sounds like it has a braking type that is a better fit that the elite long cast. I like a stronger breaking reel for chatters and spinnerbaits. That seems to be what everyone is describing with the jdm zillion hd. Also another good option. It'll palm like a wide version of the tatula ct but they are really solid feeling reels that hold up well. They have withstood the test of time. I like mine.
