  1. At least 1/2 of the people I see fishing are throwing buzz baits. The other 1/2 are throwing senkos. I think at least on the lake I normally fish the bass have seen enough of them. I routinely catch bass right behind the buzz bait/senko people using other baits and methods.
  2. I've been blessed with good health. My occupation can be hard on a persons body. I'm 59 and never had any kind of surgery. I've got a co worker who's 4th back surgery is scheduled later this month. Thoughts and prayers from Mrs B and myself for everyone dealing with injuries and illness.
  3. Anyone can check the NHTSA website to see if their vehicle is covered by a recall. https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
  4. I don't fish docks much this time of year. They get fished to death. I will skip a really low hard to skip dock occasionally. Last week I skipped a worm in the area between the floats on a floating dock. About the time I hooked a bass a guy came walking out on the dock. I landed the bass and said "I believe I caught your pet bass". He said "I've never touched a bass before, can I touch it?" I went over to the dock with my trolling motor. He rubbed the bass and said "Kinda slimy ain't it". I told him I usually release everything I catch did he want it. He said "I wouldn't eat anything out of this lake". I agree with him. It's full of PCB's and heavy metals. I don't fish docks with people on them. Most of the people I run across are friendly though.
  5. I suspect there's a problem with the water pump impeller. Not a super hard fix. A coworker has a 1995 Tracker Panfish with a 40. It is a Mercury engine with Tracker branding. IIRC he had problems with a coil, or coils once. His had been sitting for a while when he got it. He's bypassed the oil injection....mixes oil and gas. He had to do something to bypass the oil injection alarm though.
  6. It's got a pool. There's also 2 docks under construction. My Son in law isn't building the docks. It's on a corner. My son in law is building concrete steps from the house to the docks. The steps, and docks are to the right of the first picture and the left of the second. A few weeks ago my Grandson "caught" me laying out of work and fishing. He texted me this picture saying "you aren't working today". He's got good eyes to see that it's me all the way from the construction site.
  7. This is a house my Son in Law is building on the Lake. It's only $1.2 million for the construction. It's also got a pool and a ~2000 square foot pool house. I don't know how much the land cost. The guy having it built owns a bunch of convenience stores.
  8. I did that once. Same situation. Ran out of gas, gassed it up and couldn't get it to start. I didn't push it though. Mrs B came out and asked "do you have the blade engaged". It's ok though. A couple weeks later she couldn't get it started because the brake wasn't engaged.
  9. The long hair police have surfaced a few times in the "latest catch" thread. I had long hair from the time I was in high school until I was 51. I finally got it cut in 2015 after Mrs B said my long hair used to look cool, but it had gotten to where I looked like an old man with long hair. I've found a couple pictures that were on my computer. I'll dig through some stuff and see if I can find some when I was younger. Bring on the hair police. LOL
  10. It's funny. Lately when I've thought I wasn't going to catch many I've done OK. When I think I'm going to slay them....things turn out differently. Yesterday I caught 10 (a good day for me). Most were topwater bites, which have been rare this year. I went earlier today, just knowing I was going to catch a BUNCH on top. I had the boat launched by 5AM. I caught my first (of 5) at 6:57am on a T-rig in 20 feet of water. I ended up catching 5(all pictured) before the lake got crowded with wake boats and jet skis. I'm going to do something out of character. I've either fished, or worked every day this year. I'm off Tuesday. I'm going to rest. I'll be back at the lake Saturday. On a side note, I'm going to start a long hair thread for the hair police.
  11. Great job taking the kid fishing. All of you are smashing bass. Kid catches 35. I should probably be ashamed of my measly 10 today. I had fun, so that's what I'm after. First and last bass are pictured. First was just before 6am. Last was around 10. I got "catfished". Probably a 5 pound Blue. I took a picture of it next to the boat, then took my pliers and got it loose. I didn't want the slime in my boat. Most of the Bass were on a Devils Horse. There's still some mayfly action. I've got an OG6 with a broken bill tied on one rod. I cast it into overhanging trees and shake to dislodge mayflies. Then I'll cast something under the tree. I finally caught something else on my Shimano Armajoint. The bluegill pictured. I think all of y'all are punking me on the Armajoint. Y'all are posting fish pictures and stuff, then laughing, saying "Woody is actually fishing with one of those" LOL Edit: I had long hair most of my life. I'll have to dig up a picture.
  12. There was a recall in the late 80's. I don't remember what parts were replace but it repaired the problem for several customers, and friends of mine. One of my racing friends had a motorhome with a Ford chassis. It would get so bad he's have to come to a complete stop. The recall fixed it. Disclaimer, my truck has an open recall for some kind of radio software issue. I haven't, and probably won't take the time to get it done. If it were a safety recall I'd get it done. The TV station in the video you listed is a local station for me.
  13. I'd go ahead and get it fixed. Anything can amplify it. Sometime, really good balanced tires can cover it up. It's usually caused by looseness in a suspension or steering part somewhere. Ford had that problem with their F350's back in the late 80's.
  14. Honestly I wouldn't buy either until they've been on the market for a while. People are "lined up" waiting on the new Power Pole motors. I'm sure they'll be "scratching" to get the new Minn Kota "Quest" also. I don't buy into all the brushless hype either. In theory they are more efficient. In the real world many of the brushless motors require bigger wiring and breakers than the brushed motors. I suppose interference is a consideration. IME most interference is due to wiring issues.
  15. Until temperature get's to extremes (over 100F) what we "feel" is the dew point. If the dew point is 60 or lower I feel OK. From 60 to 70 starts to get sticky. Above 70 is like being in a broiler. Here's a link to a map that's supposed to be the current dew points across the US. Dew point map
  16. Like some others here I'm not a kayak fisherman, but I've seen many kayak guys and gals drag their 'yaks down the ramp with wheels on them. They take the wheels off at waters edge and stow them in the 'yak. I'll probably see some this weekend. If wanted I can take some pictures, assuming it's OK with the owners.
  17. I suspect that number going down. Almost every Man from my Dad's generation served, most via the draft. My Dad was lucky, he was drafted and served after Korea but before Vietnam. I truly appreciate everyone who has served. Even more for those who serve, or have served as volunteers instead of being drafted.
  18. I've been to Ohio. I won races at LaRue and Norwalk. I don't remember where either are in the state, or how to get there from here, except to head North. I didn't wake up as early as planned today. I managed to catch 6 Bass. The biggest one (pictured) was on my first cast at 6:59. The smallest one (also pictured) was on my last cast at 10:42. That might be the smallest bass I've ever caught. By 8:30 today the lake was full of boats. There's areas full of floating debris due to the recent rain. People were actually skiing and wake boarding right through it. Has anyone caught a bass smaller than the one pictured? I'm not talking about accidently snagged. This little guy attacked a Zoom trick worm. My arm isn't long enough to make it look big. LOL. That's more than likely all of my Bass for June 2023. I may go late Friday night, but after midnight will be July. I really enjoyed taking a week of and having some non busy, rainy weekdays on the lake. It's back to work tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be going into a mess. The buck stops here. I get all the problem cars and customers. I have no doubt they'll be some problem jobs waiting on me.
  19. First day in a while fishing while it's not raining. Lake was CROWDED with recreational boaters by 9. Also had catfish and bass tournaments today. I managed to catch 10 dinks between 6 and 10. Mayfly hatch is starting. Still no topwater action. I doubt I've caught 5 this year on top. All the rain from last week has the lake muddy, and floating with debris in some areas. I plan on going earlier tomorrow. On a side note, in NC and SC bridges are no wake zones. I saw 2 boats go wide open under Buster Boyd bridge today. Both were pulling skiers.
  20. I fished so much in the rain the last week my auto inflatable life jacket decided to inflate. (true)
  21. Local laws are 5 Bass max, 14 inches min length. I consider a limit the start of a good bag. I'm usually happy fishing regardless of what I catch though. I like to leave the lake on a high note. I don't usually have a set time I need to leave by, and I don't stay after I get tired, or the lake get's over crowded. Most trips I catch a bass on my last cast. That leaves me smiling, and eager to go again. I used to never leave right after catching one. I'd tell myself "last cast", but if I happened to catch one on that cast I'd stay 15 more minutes. Last year I was planning on fishing until 1PM. At that time I told myself "last cast". I caught a 3 pound Bass on that cast, so I decided to fish 15 more minutes. On the next cast I hooked a 53 pound Catfish. I finally got it in the boat 45 minutes later. I was too tired to fish any longer. Since then, most trips I'll decide one more and I'm leaving, or one more after a certain time. The last time I didn't catch a bass on my last cast was back in the winter when the water was in the 40's, and I got skunked. Can't catch one on the last cast if you don't catch any. Added: I'm not in a contest with anyone. I don't have to look very far to find someone who catches more and or bigger Bass. I also don't have to look very far to find someone who catches less.
  22. I've had several people ask about my sonar, and took a few of them out from the dock for a look around. I suppose I'm more approachable than someone with a nice $80 to $100K fiberglass boat. I'm not an expert, but if anyone near me wants a ride along and look at the screens is welcome to.
  23. 100 bass in a day? I'm thrilled to catch 100 in a month. My automatic inflatable life jacket inflated last night. I wondered if the rain would ever get to it. It was soaking wet, along with a bunch of other stuff. I brought it in yesterday. I had it sitting in a bathtub along with some clothes, shoes ect. This morning it was inflated. I went by Cabela's after fishing today and got 2 recharge kits. I didn't succumb to the bait monkey. I went in, got the recharge kits and left. I caught 12 bass today. Two 3+ pound Largemouth and 10 spots ranging from dink to 16 inches. I also caught one 9 inch Crappie. Going back to my earlier post about the direction of Spots eyes. 9 of the spots were looking down. I caught the one that was looking up on a Devils Horse. The rest were on various bottom hugging lures. Both Largemouth were on a t-rigged 6 inch Zoom trick worm.

I suspect some big powerful company holds the patent on the good stuff. I also suspect that patent expired. They'll develop a new formula that doesn't work as good, then patent it. This isn't a joke. R134A was great automotive refrigerant until the patent expired. Now it's being replace by R1234YF.
  25. I usually fish alone. My Grandsons (17 and 19) go every now and then but they're usually busy with baseball or teenage girls. A co worker goes with me a couple times a year. He's got 2 young daughters. He's a really good Dad....does a lot of stuff with them so he doesn't get to fish often. Mrs B occasionally goes with me. I try to put her on some decent bass when she does go.
