  1. I couldn't imagine bringing in a fish of that size. My pb is 7lb and it was a fight for like 20 mins. I guess I do use 8 lb mono and a med/heavy 6'5" rod.
  2. Funny thing is, when I went back later that day and early evening threw a jitterbug and on the second cast, WHAM! another 4 lber. It was about 6pm, not even night yet. I'm planning on hitting it up tonight for night fishing. Everywhere else gets totally fished out from the banks and I'm keeping this place a secret!
  3. yep we have a tourney coming upthis month. I've got my spot marked.
  4. I fished a black jig with rattle, and senkos
  5. Just stopped by a slough I have never fished before and boy I was glad I did! 4 fish in two hours. Smallest fish was 4lb6oz. Biggest fish 5lb8oz. WHAT A GREAT DAY!!! Im heading back later tonight.
  6. I like fishing drop-offs (Large) and ripwrap (Smallies). I have found that my most productive spots are culverts though. I can usually pull 1-2, 2-5# fish from every culvert I throw into.
  7. This would be a great idea. You need to check with your fish and game and if you have a army core of engineer (Lake Government regulated). You can get a permit, I know the fine in Idaho if you get caught dumping anything without a permit into the lake is $5,000. Check with law enforcements first.
  8. Fishing a particular spot can definately slow things down. I have a couple spots that the public have decided is now their bank spot. I still occassionally fish them but its slow. I only fish about 5 different lures on a regular basis in each of these spots. The fish might become a little aware of what is coming in front of them, but you have to remember that bass are predator fish. Sometimes they will not hit something because of the presentation or something feels out of place. I do alot of sight fishing and if I see a fish or some kind of structure I know there is fish there I will hammer that spot untill something bites. This seems to work most of the time for me. It might take upwards of 15 casts to that exact spot but most of the time something will grab it because it is invading its space.
  9. It's all good, Already member of fishing buddy map . I might be having to set up my tri-pod with camera and have to use the auto capture button with a 15 second delay for pics.
  10. What is a good way to find some other people that fish in the area you live in. Should I post something in the newspaper that I'm looking for a fishing buddy...LOL. I have friends but they never want to go and I haven't found anyone from this site that lives in Sandpoint. This is the type of fish I catch regularily. He was a fighter too! Had to pull him through a culvert he ducked into, that was fun .
  11. Great looking fish. Thats a pig in my lake
  12. I fish tubes, fat ika, senkos and sweet beavers. Gratz on the catch
  13. I like the hits when you lite a cigarette. I've gotten pretty good at the one handed set now .
  14. Everyone has their favorite spots that they like to go to and they know that they will catch fish because of previous outings. I have been fishing a lot unknow spots that have been great fishing. There is a slough right downtown that flows through the middle. I never see anyone fishing there. The problem is that I was always afraid of fishing it because if there are bass and I land a pig it will be known around and people will start fishing it more. So yesterday I tried it and landed a good size fish. Had a bystander take my picture and that was that. I went back today at lunch and there were 4 guys standing around the area that I caught the one yesterday. News travels fast I guess. It is right next to a shopping center. Anyways I went down and peered to see what they were throwing and a spinnerbait here and there, maybe a crankbait, but I have been realizing that a lot of people in my area only fish spinnerbaits and cranks. Good for me because I don't throw many, and plastics seem to be working better for me. I asked if they had gotten anything and only one landed about 1lb. They asked if I was the guy fishing yesterday and I told then ya, and they asked what I was using. I told them a plastic and went on my way. They kinda gave me an evil eye because I didn't tell them any more, but I was like why am I gonna give you my secrets? I spend my time and energy learning how to fish and what works and what doesn't. I couldn't help feeling kind of bad because the colors and what they were using I knew weren't gonna work in the situation they were fishing. But went on my way and landed another 3lber right down the bank. Does anyone ever get into this kind of situation and either your newly acquired spots gets known by the public or people hold a grudge because you don' tell your secrets?
  15. Airbone has a great idea. When I am fishing plastics I also do not watch line very much. I used to watch about 80-90% of the time but after fishing off the bank for smallies in rip wrap, wind, waves, etc... I had to get used to feeling for the bite instead of watching line. Watching the line can be productive but I have found I have become a better fisherman feeling for the bite.
  16. I have noticed that the bite is a bit slower after a big storm. I usually go out fishing the next day and the bite tends to be slower the next day. After one day everything seems to back to normal. I know when Rainbow and Mackinaw fishing the bite is a lot slower after a big storm. It takes about 2 days for the bite to me back on. Always remember that presentation is everything and try to imitate what the fish are feeding on.
  17. 4lbs 6oz was the weight. It was really long but not a huge girth or body. Plus Spawn is getting over and probably have lost some weight. Great fight though. Lasted about 10 mins. d**n thing kept running into a downed tree where I flippin and caught it. My buddy cught this one about 30 mins leter down the bank flipping some grass.
  18. Took my lunch break today. Stopped at one of our creeks and hooked into a nice fish. Hooked her on a drop-shot *** 5" ***. I also had a question about texas rigged plastics. Does anyone have a problem with missing the hit? I have been tex-posing lately and I seem to be catching more fish. Everytime I go back to texas-rigged I seem to miss them and tex-posing I almost never miss the strike. Am I just not setting the hook hard enough or a little slow on the set? Or could it just be the luck of fishing.
