  1. I asked this same question last year. I listened to RW and fell in love with Yo-Zuri line. I fish 8# though. Its practically perfect in my opinion. I went from worrying about the line breaking to no worry at all. The the abrasion resistance is great practically no memory. HANDS DOWN TO YO-ZURI!
  2. I will keep you updated I need to do some more research on where mounting stuff can go The Balance is no issue. Those two parts that swing open make the boat impossible to flip or tip over. Ive tried. Ive been standing up with 2 foot swells it was tough but do-able..
  3. I have two they are great bags! Here is my first one before I bought the secpond one and got rid of that other plastic piecer!
  4. Are there specific rules that you have to take in order to record a state record caught fish? Measurements, picture, etc or does the F&G have to do it? I know I am with many others here and would want to release it. Now that comes to the stand still of possibly killing it just to get the record and officially weighing it or is having the pictures enough with the measurements and weight etc. I can't find anything on our State F&G.
  5. My biggest issue is there isn't much room to mount the finder. I have two scupper holes one up front and one in middle right before my seat I have drawn a pretty crappy rendition of what I was thinking possibly. There is no dry storage up front so A dry box would need to be built
  6. Just looking at those two I just posted I am really looking for the GPS also so I might just have to fork the dough
  7. GARMIN FISHFINDER 300C or Humminbird Fishfinder 565, would something like this be adequate. I have found some good deals on ebay and this is about the price range im willing to spend at most $200. The good thing about my kayak is it is open bow and I have tons or places to mount the electronics but I don't know about the transponder is there a specific way to do it on kayaks thats better than another? Also I wanted to know that is it easier to target fish from the kayak approach because you are moving much slower than boat and you have a more target area because the hull is only a couple feet wide.
  8. Wish I could but the near 2000 miles is a bit outta my league for a road trip I'm sure it will be a blast and good luck! How about making next year somewhere where us north westerners can partake *Hint Idaho or Washington
  9. I am looking to install a fish finder on my Kayak. It is a freedom hawk 14 I am not looking for anything really expensive but I am looking to spend around $100-$200. Any suggestions and the best way in doing so battery storage etc? http://www.freedomhawkkayaks.com/
  10. Sweetness!! I have a section in my garage that is going to be just like that... Just haven't had the inspiration! Im on it this weekend
  11. Idaho Largemouth Bass 10 lb. 15 oz. Anderson Lake Mrs. M.W. Taylor No Date So have no idea... Kinda makes ya wonder... Anderson Lake is only about an hour away and it is a chain lake of the CDA so it is possible another one could be lurking around on my lake Pend Oreille at a surface area of 148 square miles.
  12. If I had a boat i'd be out fishing right now even though its 35 degress out. ;D
  13. thanks for the post. Its good to hear what conditions are like down south. My info in log was regarding spring/summer/fall fishing. I kinda asked two questions in one The times I have caught during winter up here are anywhere from 25-50 ft. of water. Anyone else running this deep in winter. Not very much luck though only been out less than 20 times. But when you do hook into one there nice sized fish.
  14. I believe next will be Cali. The southern states do not have any off time for the fishes metabolism to slow down. In my opinion but let me know if I am wrong... Fish have to have some time to relax. If a fish is going full throttle all year round, yes it does get big faster, but I woud think it would not live as long either and a 20lb fish has got to be 15+years old.
  15. I just reorganized my tackle and cleaned all my reels. It sure does make ya anxious when you get to smell the ol' plastics again. Im getting sick of shoveling just got another foot over night. I think that puts us at 6 feet in the last month. Ugh! Getting ready to place a tackle order to ease my pain lol
  16. Agreed... I have the same boat and works great. I also fish a I fish backwater and areas where jon boat and bigger boats is not accessable. I also have a 14' Freedom Hawk Kayak and would reccomend anyone thinking about kayak fishing to look at this remarkable design. It allows you to stand in the kayak and it is very sturdy.
  17. All very good questions and only true answers can come from a study. I am not one to say anything about what to do but I think a more bonified answer might come from your Fish and Game and maybe they will do a study on the water.
  18. Ive been wanting to do this for years and this year I am going to do it! Need to fish more 20+ feet also. Cheers!
  19. I think it all has to do with presentation, I think a good fisherman can pick up any bait and catch fish with it, if it is a presentable bait for the area. I don't think most people can pick up a 12" swimbait and know exactly how to throw it. It comes with becoming comfortable with that bait. It isn't going to feel good untill your used to it but any bait can become your new money bait. I know theres been times where I try fishing a new bait and don't get anything and then it goes back into the box. But I know the more I start throwing it I get more comfortable with how to use it. I do also believe in having your money baits because you get comfortable throwing that bait and you know exactly how to present that bait to be the most natural for the fish. Cheers from North Idaho... too nasty to be out fishing right now so home you southerners are enjoying the waters!
  20. Northern Idaho doesn't have very much in regards to bass fishing clubs. I am the only one, that I know of in our area, to consistently pull 5+ lb fish and a 8 this year. Everytime I wander into the local outfitter I get dropped jaws from pictures and I give them heads up where fishing has been hot lately. I know down south near Boise and Pocatello fishing is pretty sweet, but most people I talk with are smallie fisherman. Most people around my area are Rainbow, Kokanee and Mackinaw fisherman. The bass fishing culture really hasn't exploded around here yet. I rarely see anyone out fishing for bass when I go out. We also have a relatively short season being only 6 months because it's still snowing sometimes in May. The Spawn this year didn't even really start till June/July.
  21. I don't need a promise or anything lol. I really just want to get out, have a great week of fishing with the chance of catching a 10+ fish (Note: a 15+ hog would be perfect ;D)
  22. I absolutely agree. I know from fact that people having the same bait as you and not knowing how to fish it, you will out fish them any day of the week, I do it to my friends all the time. I fish with lots of friends and acquaintances and they are always borrowing my tackle during the outing. I have turned about a handful of my friends from once a month anglers into weekly ritualists. I think that if you're knowledge can help someone land bigger fish and get them hooked into bass fishing if they aren't already... spread the word and your knowledge! With this i always mention bass fishing courtesies.
  23. Hi everyone. This next spring I am looking to possibly do some fishing out of state. Living in Northern Idaho and catching 6-8lbers is a great achievement but I really want to get into some 10+ hogs. I know this will probably not happen living in Idaho unless i catch the state record. I can take about a week or so off and I am looking for a local, not a guide just because I can't afford $350+ a day. If anyone might be interested in hosting me I can pay for gas and traveling expenses. Best Regards
  24. Mine has been very good this year. I have been doing much more fishing this year so my technique has strengthened. I think fishing gets better with expanding your knowledge and different techniques. At the beginning of the year I was on the usual cranks and wacky rigged senkos. Now I spend most of my time drop shotting and finesse floaters.
