  1. Stumps or logs... I would definetly be fishing a jig or soft plastic weedless. Bounce everything and anything through the thick stuff. Unless the pond gets fished regularily usually private pond fish will take anything you put infront of them. If nothing seems to work with the colors your using always remember try to imitate the bait that is in the pond. Rainy days I usually stick with dark colors. Hope that helps.
  2. I would have to agree. I always start out on 7-10" finesse worm on a football jig. I always seem to end up on my jitterbug though.
  3. I have really gotten into fishing during storms and sudden squalls this year since that is all we have had for the past month for weather. I have been keeping track of my catches and what the weather pattern was when they were caught. I have had very good luck fishing lillies and cover when there is a downpour. Usually caught right off the first throw. When it is drizzling most catches were happening off jigs, texas rigged senkos and ikas. Right after a storm I hit any murky water I see especially target the mouth of creeks. Hope all helps. When ever I don't seem to be catching anything or getting any bites I usually end up throwing a finesse worm. Hope all helps
  4. I wish I could be out in my regular gear but it has been 40-50 degrees for about a month and raining cats and dogs. We have only had about 1 week of 60+ degree weather here all year. I am surprised I am even catching fish. Most our water is still 55-60 degrees. Keep those reels tight!

  8. Went fishing last night at a local slough. I haven't seen many people fishing it much because of the heat. Went out last night about 7pm and fished till dark. I was flipping in some weed beds and a culvert. First fish bit at the culvert and almost had him in untill he threw the hook on a jump, I guestimated about 7-8lbs. Next I started flipping into the weed beds and first throw hooked another pig. It ran about 30-40 yards toward some logs and cover. I got him into about 10 feet and he must have saw me and totally did a 180 and snapped the line. Guessed 8-10 lbs. He probably would have broke my record. I was fishing with the wife and she had the camera ready for the pull out of the water because she knew it was my probably my PB. Just rotten luck
  9. What about lakes that don't have shad like up here in Northern Idaho? Great information for those who wanted the info though
  10. Great Video, A wide angle lens will help with your video sight, it will allow you capture more area.
  11. Have you been reading my mind RW? This is exactly how I feel. You better be ready to set the hook asap when jig fishing, I usually give a second or two more when fishing plastics, I seem to lose less hook sets this way.
  12. When I'm fishing smaller lakes like 50-100 acre this is what I usually end up with: 6am: Shallow coves and Beaver trails - Poppers, jitterbugs, and weightless Senko 8-11am: Switch to plastics ( T-rigged, wacky, weighted and weightless) 11am-2pm: Still throwing plastics but along with jigs and cranks, in deeper water - usually rigged with bullet wight or on jig head if throwing plastics, I fish dark colored jigs exploring cover and structure, and if I don't get anything after about 45 mins I switch to cranks. I usually start again at six if I want to go back out 6pm-7pm - Jigs and plastics toward structure and cover 7pm on - Start with weightless senkos then switch to jitterbug or poppers
  13. Yes it is... I had my PB day on the shore about 3 weeks ago with 21lbs3oz with 4 fish. It was the best day ever
  14. The easiest way to deal with it call your sheriff. I have helped issue a couple tickets for vicarious boaters boating reckless and one BUI. Most people don't know the laws and regulations on the water, and how much it ticks people off, that's what the problem is. When your hopped up with 600+cc's between your legs, you make stupid decisions and most people are on one for their first time. The sheriff is really easy to deal with in most cases and they will check out the area that people are driving reckless. I also jet ski, but don't do it around anyone within 2-3 hundred feet
  15. Five Pound... You should know by know how to make your bass look bigger. Hold it toward the camera with your arms extended... You can make a 2 lber look like a 5 .
  16. Nice!!! My wife usually does the same...
  17. I've just started fishing at 7-11pm After it gets dusk, I don't see anyone The occasional ski boat cruises through the sloughs at about 15 mph and stirs up all kinds of crap, but I've found it hard to get mad at people on public waters. It might not be right waht they have done but, Oh well. I catch better fish at night anyways ;D
  18. Good Night last night... One 3lb caught at dusk and one 3-4lb an hour later. I wanted to stay later but the wife wanted to go home... Going back out tonight by myself . I know there are some pigs waiting for my jitterbug
  19. It is probably not the fishing sucks in your area. As time progresses and you learn new techniques you will land bigger fish. Catching big fish consistently comes with experience and time on the water. Back in high school when I first started to get into fishing, I fished about two lures, a spinnerbait and a jig. I was lucky to catch 1-2 fish a day and maybe one 5lb+ fish a year. Now, after about 8 years, time on the water, five full tackleboxes, 7 poles, lots of research and learning an incredible amount of information from everyone on BassResource, I have already this year, landed more and bigger fish from the total fish caught for the first 5 years I started fishing. 2007 - I usually catch between 3-15 fish a day, and one 3-5lb fish every outing. Time on the water and research has made me into a much better fisherman. My biggest advice is keep your lines wet as much as possible
  20. I posted a thread a while back about hook setting and Roadwarrior gave me a brand of hooks that do not dull but can't remember the name. I bought 50 of them and haven't had a dull hook yet. Don't have the packaging anymore. Can you help with the name RW? This might help
  21. I don't know if many people keep track of the Lunar periods but tomorrow scores a 95 with the new moon, best day this month. Best Time fishing is High Noon between 11:48am-3:22pm and Midnight-2:53am. I would like to member challenge everyone who would like to compete. I will be fishing the into the late night tomorrow. I am challenging people to use a jitterbug or weedless frog. Note: I would of posted it in member challenge, but the cut-off was tuesday
  22. Brokejaw, I use the Rapala ProGuide-15lb digital scale, only because there isn't anything bigger than 10-15lbs around here. it runs about 30bucks. URL: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=967920
  23. I keep hearing the need for better picture taking equipment and suggestions. Being a photographer and graphic design guy, I thought I would let everyone know the easiest and cheap way for getting your pics. It is much easier than you think, just make sure your camera has a timer and your set. The Sun Pak Compact is very light being only 1.6 lbs and has quick release levers and locking levers. Set up the tri-pod before you start throwing your bait and its as easy as pushing the timer. It costs $19.95 and has not let me down yet! URL: http://www.adorama.com/SUCXLD.html Hope this helps everyone!
  24. Same here in Northern Idaho. You hook into anything bigger than 4-5lbs consistenly you are considered a knowledgeable bass fisherman and they are pigs.
  25. I never really do much spot fishing because I fish mostly from the banks and do not have the priveledge to roam around alot. I was fishing a slough right underneath a bridge and there is a lot of milfoil in the water. Euroasian milfoil is bad in some parts of our lake. I was watching a big milfoil patch where the current is a bit stronger. So i saw a lunker, 5lb3oz swim out and back under I was like, OMG you are in my hands. So i threw my bait right next to the milfoil and holy crap about 4-5 fish swam after the bait, 4lb+ all about the same size and one 6lb. I didn't know large mouth tended to group like this. Was this just an unusal occasion because I have never seen this size fish grouping in current. Were they waiting for bait fish to swim under for cover? I know there is usually a pig sitting underneath cover on a hot day but 5+ fish, I caught 4 ranging from 4lb to 6+lb in the exact same spot.
