Thanks Team9. After your explanation and looking at it it is all so simple. Even a cave man coulda seen it LOL. Thanks again man. Tight lines.
  2. This may be a dumb question but can someone explain to me what 'Needs' means on MLF Scoretracker? I get it that angler #2 is lets say.. 2 lbs behind the leader and it is shown as such under the 'Behind" column, but in the 'Needs' column it may show he needs 6+ lbs. and I don't understand what that means.
  3. I feel your pain my friend. My last outing was exactly the same except in my case two fish died. I thought I had gotten the hooks out cleanly even though there was some blood but in both cases I ended up seeing them both floating belly up. It is a terrible sinking feeling to see that. And in both cases I never knew I had a fish on and was reeling in for my next cast when all of a sudden there is weight on the other end.
  4. I use braid on my spinning gear and yes, it does twist but does cast fine and doesn't birds nest so I don't worry about it. Just my opinion. Tight lines my friend.
  5. I know it's just me but no matter what brand or size line I use on a spinning reel it's gonna birds nest on me. For years I wouldn't touch a spinning reel until I saw guys use braid with a fluro leader and tried it myself and Bingo...now I use a spinning reel as much as a baitcaster.

The Greatest Generation. A BIG Heartfelt thankyou to them.
  7. Exactly as I have learned my friend. Hence my looking into a different and lighter brand of fluro. Last night I hear somebody say the best fluro for the buck is Seagar Basix. I know absolutely nothing about it other than it's cheap fluro...around $10 for 150 yd spool.
  8. Sorry for the confusion, didn't mean I'm using fluro and braid on the same reels, I only do that on my spinning stuff. As for my casting reels, I use cheap backing line for the bottom half of the spool and then either fluro or braid to top them off.
  9. Thanks all. I haven't had any problems with breakage. When I first put it on it came off the reel and laid straight. Now when it comes off the reel it's in coils lying on the top of the water until it sinks. I will take y'alls advice and find a new brand of fluro. I did take it out this morning and gave it a good stretch. Hope that helps this afternoon. Thanks again.
  10. I've been using 20 lb. Berkley Vanish flurocarbon on half my reels....(using Power Pro braid on the other half)...anyhow, I don't change out line every season since it's stored out of sunlight and because it's so expensive. This is the second season on the fluro and I've noticed a lot of line memory even though I use Reel Magic. Am I doing something wrong or should I just bite the bullet and change out my line?
  11. Whopper Plopper just to name one. I fell for the hype and bought one and found another. I have managed 3 bass on the one I found. Also a 'Clickbait'....similar to a Chatterbait. Zilch. At the right times I can slay them with a Chatterbait, not so with the 'Clickbait'. I'm beginning to believe the old saying....'Fishing lures are made to catch fishermen, not fish' is true.
  12. I actually do both and don't find any substantial difference in the action of the baits. JMHO.
  13. I tried them yesterday for the first time. Small pond, bank fishing. Got hung twice on submerged tree branches that I didn't know were there but was able to unsnag both time. I don't have that issue with Eagle Claw's weedless hooks.
  14. Just curious what you guys think about the VMC weedless Neko/Wacky hooks? My brother uses them and talked me into getting some which I hope to try out today. Just looking at the hooks I like them with the offset but am a bit leary of the fluro weedguard. It just seems a bit flimsy to me to come through brush, limbs, cover, etc... Anxious to hear what you guys think.
  15. So...my brother and I jacked the boat up and leveled it then flooded the bottom with water. To my surprise there wasn't just one hole but at least half a dozen!!! Most were just pin hole size but there were two that were pencil lead size. Ended up getting marine grade JB Weld...which I didn't know they made. Thankfully there were no cracks anywhere. I bought this boat from a buddy who fished it in the river... hence all the dings and holes I guess.
  16. I do have decking. Was wondering if there is something I could paint the entire bottom with to seal the whole thing?
  17. I have a 16 ft aluminum flat bottom boat that has a leak somewhere that I cannot find. Just wondering what you guys think would be the best thing to seal it with? Thanks. P. S. This boat is heavy and on a trailer.
  18. I know the Dudley Wacky's are bigger around than Senko's. I like fishing those but they are so darned soft....hence my asking about the rings.
  19. I see what you are saying but I don't see how that can be any easier than using the top button. Yes I have both the continuous button and the speed dial on the right. I can't turn my dial all that easy with my foot. It has clicks between the numbers.

As figured the wacky bite has slowed... at least for me. I tied on a watermelon/red brushhog with the tails dyed chartreuse and that seems to be the bait of choice for the present time... at least for me.
  21. Mine has that side button and I use it on continuous if trolling from one spot to the next but not if I'm fishing one small area. I just wish MK made an upgraded pedal with the on/off button in a different more user friendly location.
  22. I have a Minn Kota Edge 55 foot control trolling motor that is about 11 years old. I have no problem with the motor itself, it's the foot pedal I don't like. It has the small on/off remote switch on top of the pedal that has to be pressed with my foot to engage the motor and to me it is a pain in the butt sometimes to use. I have to have my foot placed just right in order to press it, sometimes even going barefoot to use my big toe to press it. Does anyone know if Minn Kota makes a different style replacement foot pedal for this older model Minn Kota? Thanks and tight lines!!
  23. Do any of you use the VMC crossover rings for wacky rigging and if so how do you like them? Also, what size rings are best for most Senko style stick worms including the Dudley worms that seem a bit bigger?
  24. I know I'm late on this but I have to say, Briery scares me. I've been hung up on those underwater stumps too many times and several times I didn't think I was going to get off. I fish from a 16 ft flat bottom boat and it doesn't slide off stumps. For peace of mind I'd rather fish Sandy. JMHO. Tight lines everyone!!!
  25. I took early retirement in '09 when I was 53 yrs old and some time later I went to work part time, 3 days a week. I did that for 11 years and by the time age 65 rolled along I honestly was hearing a little voice telling me... 'It's time'. The place I was working at was a local state park with a nice lake. Now I can go back fishing and not be envious of the boaters on the lake or be concerned with work. I do get bored occasionally but the stress level is near '0'.
