Braided line color
I fish Hi-Viz yellow braid on my spinning rods with a fluro leader. Hi-Viz for ease of watching the line, fluro for the opposite for the fish. JMO.

Help me slow down
I learned to slow down by taking nothing but a spinning rod and wacky worm with me one day. I had no choice but to either fish slow or go home. JMHO.

8In Manns Jelly Worm
You can't go wrong with a Mann's Jelly Worm. I've been fishing them since the 70's and love them. They are one of my two favorite plastic worms, the other being a stick bait style worm for wacky rigging. Back in the day purple and black grape were the colors to beat.

What was or is your favorite baitcating reel?
Abu man myself. JMHO.

Spinnerbait breakage, normal range of wear and tear?

Inline spinners for bass
When I was growing up fishing with my Dad that's about all we used, along with the Creme worms with double hooks and blades on the front. Somehow over time I got caught in the tackle buying trap and haven't used an inline spinner in years. Come to think on it, I think I still have some of those Mepps inline spinners. Gonna pull them out and tie 'em on for old times sake. They were bass catchers for sure!!!

Help Me Kill The Skunk
I feel your pain. I am primarily a bank fisherman and this year I have gotten skunked more days than I've caught fish. Throwing the same thing as last year...which may be my downfall. Water is a bit more dirty than last year and it could be I haven't adapted. JMHO.

DIY Plug Knocker/Retriever.....
I made one using an old spark plug and a large swivel. Been using it for 10+ years and just recently had it fail me for the first time. Put the line tie ring through the gap in the spark plug, hammered the gap shut. When lure is snagged put the snap end of the swivel on the line and let it fall to the lure. May have to jiggle it a few times to unsnag. Like I said, I've just recently had it fail me for the first time in over 10+ years of using one.

Advice on a rod
I have two spinning outfits. Both using 6'6" Abu Vengence medium action rods, one with an older Blackmax reel, the other with a 13 Fishing reel I just bought last week. Braided line on both. Caught a ton of fish on the the Black Max last year fishing mostly wacky rigs with it.

13 Fishing spinning reels
Found the problem. Google it and found that it had one too many spool spacers. Problem solved.

13 Fishing spinning reels
Do any of you use 13 Fishing spinning reels? I just bought one...a size 30...and love the reel except I can't get it to spool the line evenly. Never had this problem before on any of my reels. Thanks in advance.

Anti-Reverse switch?
Same here. At least once a trip I'm gonna use it. I guess like anything else I'd get used to not having it and adjust but I like them and will buy them if I can.

Anti-Reverse switch?
This is probably a stupid question but why do all spinning reels not have an anti-reverse switch or am I missing something? Seems to me it's handy to have in the event you wind the lure up too close to the rod tip. I'm a budget fisherman and most of the spinning reels I can afford...less than $75... don't have them....or at least that I can find. Thanks.

Two piece rods?
Yes I did. On a big spring spawning female. Nice spring female on the bed.

Two piece rods?
After breaking a two piece Ugly Stik spinning rod some years ago right at the joint on a hookset I've stayed clear of two pc rods ever since. My question is, are todays 2 pc rods any better that those of 15 years ago? Thanks and tight lines.

Line choice for jointed swimbaits?
I can't remember the weights but they are 4" baits.

Line choice for jointed swimbaits?
Ok, as I said in my first post, I did not get high dollar baits and the ones I got were advertised as "Slow Sinkers". I've now tried them on both straight fluro and straight braid and they sink like rocks and have very little action unless fished like jerk baits. I guess the old saying, "You get what you pay for", is true.

Line choice for jointed swimbaits?
Ok, thanks again guys. Right now half my reels have 17-20 lb. fluro and the other half 40 lb. braid. The lakes and ponds have frozen over now so it'll be a while before I can get back out. I'll give the fluro a try next time. Again, thanks.

Line choice for jointed swimbaits?
I just bought my first jointed swimbaits and having never fished them before am curious as to what line to fish them with...fluro or braid. I know fluro sinks and braid floats. The ones I bought are not high dollar ones and are advertised as 'slow sinkers'. I cast them a few times the other day on braided line just to see the action they have and they don't seem to be 'slow sinkers' to me. Thanks in advance.

Quality Rod or Quality Reel?
My brother and I had this conversation one day on which is preferred IF you could only afford one...a sensitive high quality rod with lesser quality reel.....or.....a high quality reel with a less sensitive lower quality rod. We both agreed on a more sensitive higher quality rod over a pricey reel. Since it's too danged cold to fish I thought I'd get a discussion going.

Beginning Spinning Setup and Line
I echo what others have said that it's personal preference as to line. I started using a spinning outfit last year and used bright yellow Power Pro braid with a fluro leader with success...after learning the FG knot. I did this so I could see the main line. Then I saw a video...can't remember who it was...but they were using the bright yellow braid and no leader and used a sharpie to darken the last 6 feet or so of braid. I did this and so far it seems to work pretty well. Haven't had any issues with wind knots and cast a mile if needed.

De-kinking plastics
Matt Stephan has a video on this and he uses a hair dryer. I've tried it on some of mine and it works too. Never tried the hot water trick but as others have said, I'm sure it works as well.

Lures You Used Less this Year
Never threw a Crankbait, C-Rig, drop shot all year. Mainly relied on Wacky's, top water's, chatterbait's.
-
Lures You Used More this Year
My go to bait this year was a Wacky worm in varying colors depending on water clarity worked on a spinning outfit.

Wacky rig Hooks
I love these hooks. And if I want a slower fall I will file down the heads making them lighter. Also, I dip the wire guards in crazy glue to keep them from unwinding. Like them much more than the VMC fluro guards.
