Lure retriever
I do the same thing only with old spark plugs. Only failed me once so far.

Skipping?
What little success I've had with skipping has been with a 6' 6" medium rod with a spinning reel throwing wacky's and frogs. Even then it's hit and miss. Baitcaster is out of the question, made me want to lose my religion LOL!!! Practiced one day on a concrete floor and did fine with both spinning and baitcaster but not so on the water. Guess I just need to practice practice practice.

Skipping?
Just curious how many of you can skip a frog or jig? Also, how long did it take you to get good enough to where you were confident in hitting your target and not ending up in the trees? What's your setup etc...?

Wind knots
Ditto to all the above. I use 30 lb Power Pro braid on both my spinning reels and can't remember the last time I had one of those crazy knots...now having said that I'll get one the next time out. As SC53 said, if you get one lubricate it with chapstick or saliva and pull and it should come out.

Over The Top
Ok, this is coming from a Bass fisherman and just my experience. I only recently started fishing a frog and it is over pads and pond scum mostly but I found that using braided line which has no stretch gives me better hooksets and when I set the hook I slam it home once I feel that first tension on the line. As for how I fish it, once I've made the cast I let the frog sit on the pads until the water has calmed and then slowly work it across the pads letting it stop between the pads for a few seconds. And something Bill Dance once said was, when working a frog across pads to stop the frog when it comes off the pads into open water because sometimes the fish will follow it underneath the pads but won't strike until it is in open water. You said you use light gear, I can't really comment on that as I use baitcast gear with 40 lb. Braided line. I would think light gear would not be enough but that is just my humble opinion. Also, fish like shade and pads provide lots of shade so I would not give up on them.

Posting a photo from my phone or tablet?
I wish I had titled this post 'New PB' but didn't know at the time how to post pictures. Oh well. So..my brother and I were pounding shallow water...2 to 6 ft of water with wacky worms and dropshots. Were catching a few but nothing outstanding. Finally got to a place with a big flat area 4 to 6 ft deep. He stayed with the DS and I said to heck with it and tied on a KVD 1.5 sexy shad crankbait and second cast she nailed it. He netted her and the scales locked in at 8 lbs 8 oz. Measured 23" long. Don't know about other states but here in Virginia that is citation in both weight and length. I ended up boating 10 on the crankbait. Never did that before either. Oh...and she was released to fight another day. On a side note, if a moderator can change the title to, New PB', please do.

Uneven line lay on ultralight reel
I bought a 13 Fishing 2500 spinning reel and spooled it with 30 lb braid with a fluro leader and it loaded heavy to the front...towards the rod tip. It only had one plastic washer and I removed it and it spooled even and I've had no problems with it, including the drag. Just my experience.

weight or no weight wacky rig?
This is a really good video. I watched it just yesterday. I fish the smallest weighted head I can find and most of the time I will file it down even smaller. I can see the difference in the action of the worm. That being said, I have found that different brand stick worms have different action. I guess it's the density of the plastic, don't know.

Drop shotting
That describes me to a 'T'!!! My brother has gotten to where he's catching fish on DS almost every time out. I can be sitting in the same boat, fishing the same DS setup, he's catching and I'm not. When I think about it though, it's almost the same with jig fishing with me, I can't buy a bite on a jig and everyone else slays them. With the DS and working it so slow to me it's almost like cane pole fishing again. It's has to be my lack of patience.

Drop shotting
I'm sure there are numerous threads on here about drop shotting but this post is just me and my....frustration...for lack of a better term with this technique. I am new to drop shot fishing and can truthfully say I have caught a total of 3 bass using this technique. I can fish a Texas rigged worm or wacky rigged worm or jig and have no problem fishing them slow. However, with a drop shot I feel like I'm back to using a cane pole...if that makes sense. Most of my fishing is done from pond banks and when I do take my boat all I have is down imaging, no FFS. Just wondering if any of you have this issue with a DS and what suggestions you might have to help me get in the game. Thanks in advance.

Shrink Tube Instead of O-Rings for Worms
That is what I do 99% of the time.

Shrink Tube Instead of O-Rings for Worms
I have a few worms with the shrink tubing on them. I will admit it does make the worm last longer but the one problem I have with using tubing is that once I place the hook through the tubing and worm it is hard to remove the hook if you want to change worm colors. Other than that, it works great!!!

I’m about to give up on braid —> leader
My brother uses straight braid on his spinning stuff and as I said, I use braid to leader most of the time. It does seem that I get more bites than he does most of the time...but not always and we are fishing the same bait, wacky, color, etc... I guess it depends on the mood of the fish.

I’m about to give up on braid —> leader
I'm currently using 30 lb braid to 20 lb fluro on both my spinning rods. Occasionally I will go to all braid (Hi-Viz yellow) and use a black sharpie to dye the last 8 to 10 ft of line. Maybe the fish don't pay any attention to line color, who knows for sure but I figure it can't hurt. Anyway, only once in a blue moon will I get a wind knot...oh...and I'm using Power Pro braid.

Do you ever get emails like this from retailers?
Yeah, I just ignore them.

Flipping reel with switch
Most of my baitcasters have them but I never use them. I flip/pitch with my left hand and retrieve with my right so it's no big deal. JMHO.

Craziest bait/setup catch
I felt something in my shirt pocket the other day and it was half of two different colored stick worms. One a red shad and the other a baby bass so I thought, 'ok, let's see if the bass like both colors at once'. So I heated the ends where they had broken and melded them together and the bass love it. I may have to make a couple more.

Favorite Hi Viz Braided Line
I've been using regular Power Pro yellow on my spinning gear but it doesn't seem to hold it's color. May have to make a switch.

Lure Retrievers
I have a BPS plug knocker with chain but have only used it a couple times over the years. I started making homemade plug knockers using a large snap swivel and an old spark plug. Place the line tie ring over the electrode on the spark plug, hammer the electrode down tight. When I get a lure snagged I just clip the swivel to my line, let the plug fall to my lure, jiggle it a few times and presto... saved lure. I've been using one for over ten years and it's only failed me once.
