I'll admit, I'm lazy when it comes to tying knots, plus, I always (in my feeble mind) felt like I'm wasting line when I retie every time. And I hate having a bunch of rods underfoot on the boat deck. I use clips for everything but Texas rigs. Yep...I'm lazy. JMHO.
  2. Nothing big in '25, 4.5 lbs may have been my biggest on a chart/white willow leaf spinnerbait. PB...8.5 lbs was caught in '24 on a KVD 1.5 sexy shad square bill.
  3. Oh man this sounds so much like me!!! I feel for you brother!!!
  4. Oh Boy!!! I forgot my tackle box once, lucky for me I was with my son that day and could use his stuff. Another day I got half way across the lake and realized I'd left my rods in the back of my truck so back to the ramp we go. Not long ago my brother and I launched his boat and we get a hundred yards out and I realized I'd left same rods in his truck, back to ramp we go.
  5. Same here. Great hooks.
  6. A little more than $50 but Abu Garcia Vengence rods have become my favorites. I have them for both casting and spinning. JMHO.

What size split rings do you guys use to replace stock split rings on 1.5 squarebill and lipless crankbaits?
  9. So, is there a secret to getting bass out of laydowns once they're hooked up? I've lost more bass in laydowns than I've ever landed. They'll get me wrapped up more often than not, hence the reason I'm shy when it comes to throwing anymore baits in there. Thanks.
  10. Ok another question on braid color. I saw a couple videos on YouTube about braided line color and seems dark green braid...which is what I think I'm using...shows up the most. I'm currently using Power Pro moss green. Is there another braided line that is lighter in color that PP? Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks guys. Just realized in my original post I said I ordered "new lures from Bass Pro, one being a Green Pumpkin color" but neglected to say it was a bladed jig. Thanks again.
  12. Several years ago I ordered some new lures from Bass Pro, one being a Green Pumpkin color. I didn't realize when I ordered it that it has a black blade. My question is, when would I throw this color/blade combination...conditions, water color, etc? Thanks in advance.
  13. I recently did this. I was surprised at how many plastics I had in my under seat storage compartments. Stuff that I had forgotten all about much less used. So...I figured lets lighten the load and now that stuff is on shelves in my barn where the boat is stored. When I go fishing instead of taking my big tackle bag I take a small bag that is actually a bag for a laptop computer with one large Plano box with my confidence lures and a few bags of plastics. I figure if I don't catch fish with what I have then I need to be at home doing chores LOL!!!
  14. I cannot for the life of me get the hang of using a roll cast when skipping. I'm not that good regardless but if I try to roll cast my release point is always off and my bait slaps the water and dies in front of me. I can do a simple side cast low to the water and do pretty decent...with a spinning rod of course and a weightless Senko. The roll cast gets me everytime!!!
  15. That's what I was kinda thinking myself but thought I'd asked. Thank you guys.
  16. Ok....lets say you wire two 12 volt, 100 ah batteries in parallel giving you 12 volts, 200 ah's. My question is, can you wire one 12 volt, 100 ah battery to another 12 volt battery with lets say 80 ah?
  17. For years I avoided spinning reels because of line twist, using baitcasters only. Then one day I decided to try braid on a spinning reel and BINGO...pay dirt. At first I was getting a few wind knots but quickly realized I had too much line on the spool. As someone mentioned above, just a flick of the wrist is all that's needed to get a long cast with more accuracy. I'm more accurate with a sidearm or 2 o'clock cast than I am straight overhand. Also, with a baitcaster one day, I was having terrible issues with backlashes only to realize I had overfilled it as well.
  18. @12poundbass How much line do you leave between lure and rod tip when skipping?
  19. I backed off on the amount of force used when making a skip and also remind myself to raise the rod tip and yesterday I was getting some pretty decent 30 ft. skips. I can't say much for the accuracy part of it though. I guess that will come.
  20. Man these were the deal when I was growing up. Don't know why I ever got away from them!!
  21. I'm an old right hander. Have always cast right...switch to left...retrieve right. A couple years ago I got to the point I can pitch left and retrieve right. I'm working on casting left but I see like anything else it's gonna take some work.
  22. I have a couple bags of both 6 and 12 inch Mann's jelly worms. I didn't know Mann's had gone out of business. Maybe I'll just hold on to these few bags for old time sake. Used to be my go to's.

I use them in the spring spawning season, pre and post spawn.
  24. It's been years since I last used them although I still have a few somewhere.
