Found the problem. Google it and found that it had one too many spool spacers. Problem solved.

Do any of you use 13 Fishing spinning reels? I just bought one...a size 30...and love the reel except I can't get it to spool the line evenly. Never had this problem before on any of my reels. Thanks in advance.

Same here. At least once a trip I'm gonna use it. I guess like anything else I'd get used to not having it and adjust but I like them and will buy them if I can.

This is probably a stupid question but why do all spinning reels not have an anti-reverse switch or am I missing something? Seems to me it's handy to have in the event you wind the lure up too close to the rod tip. I'm a budget fisherman and most of the spinning reels I can afford...less than $75... don't have them....or at least that I can find. Thanks.

After breaking a two piece Ugly Stik spinning rod some years ago right at the joint on a hookset I've stayed clear of two pc rods ever since. My question is, are todays 2 pc rods any better that those of 15 years ago? Thanks and tight lines.

I can't remember the weights but they are 4" baits.

Ok, as I said in my first post, I did not get high dollar baits and the ones I got were advertised as "Slow Sinkers". I've now tried them on both straight fluro and straight braid and they sink like rocks and have very little action unless fished like jerk baits. I guess the old saying, "You get what you pay for", is true.

Ok, thanks again guys. Right now half my reels have 17-20 lb. fluro and the other half 40 lb. braid. The lakes and ponds have frozen over now so it'll be a while before I can get back out. I'll give the fluro a try next time. Again, thanks.

I just bought my first jointed swimbaits and having never fished them before am curious as to what line to fish them with...fluro or braid. I know fluro sinks and braid floats. The ones I bought are not high dollar ones and are advertised as 'slow sinkers'. I cast them a few times the other day on braided line just to see the action they have and they don't seem to be 'slow sinkers' to me. Thanks in advance.

My brother and I had this conversation one day on which is preferred IF you could only afford one...a sensitive high quality rod with lesser quality reel.....or.....a high quality reel with a less sensitive lower quality rod. We both agreed on a more sensitive higher quality rod over a pricey reel. Since it's too danged cold to fish I thought I'd get a discussion going.

I echo what others have said that it's personal preference as to line. I started using a spinning outfit last year and used bright yellow Power Pro braid with a fluro leader with success...after learning the FG knot. I did this so I could see the main line. Then I saw a video...can't remember who it was...but they were using the bright yellow braid and no leader and used a sharpie to darken the last 6 feet or so of braid. I did this and so far it seems to work pretty well. Haven't had any issues with wind knots and cast a mile if needed.

Matt Stephan has a video on this and he uses a hair dryer. I've tried it on some of mine and it works too. Never tried the hot water trick but as others have said, I'm sure it works as well.

Never threw a Crankbait, C-Rig, drop shot all year. Mainly relied on Wacky's, top water's, chatterbait's.

My go to bait this year was a Wacky worm in varying colors depending on water clarity worked on a spinning outfit.

I love these hooks. And if I want a slower fall I will file down the heads making them lighter. Also, I dip the wire guards in crazy glue to keep them from unwinding. Like them much more than the VMC fluro guards.

This will maybe help me as well. I'd been thinking 'deep' as well although it didn't make sense to me knowing that bass are cold blooded creatures. Most of my fishing is in a small farm pond, especially in the cold winter months. I'll head for the shallow end my next time out. Thanks guys.

So, here in Virginia the water temps have cooled off quite a bit, not exactly sure to what degree since I haven't had my boat in the water in a couple months. I've been doing a lot of pond fishing and I must say the bite has all but come to a screeching halt...which I know happens this time of year. I land a stray bass every now and then but for the most part I'm getting skunked everytime out. Just wondering what you guys are throwing this time of year. Oh...fairly clear water by the way. I've often wondered about this. I'm right handed, cast right, switch rod to left hand and retrieve with my right hand....with a baitcaster that is. Now, with a spinning outfit... I cast with my right and retrieve with my left. And even that is something I just learned how to do this year. I asked Timmy Horton about it when I met him earlier this year and he says "It's a feel thing", and "a muscle memory thing". We fishermen are a crazy bunch LOL!!!

I see some of the pros are even fishing barefoot in their boats, Ott Defoe being one. As for me, in summer time its Crocs. I don't use the boat that much in colder months but if I do I wear sneakers and when trailering the boat I put on a pair of hip waders. As someone else said, I don't relish the idea of digging a hook out of my foot.

We are fishing straight 40 lb. Power Pro moss green braid on most everything except Texas rigged worms, flukes, etc...(straight FC on those). Someone on here told me to try taking a black sharpie and blackening the last 6 ft. or so of the line before the lure. I did and it seems to work beautifully.

I've got 6 or 7 baitcasters and one spinning outfit and like someone else said, I used to carry all my rods and a big full tackle bag in the boat. If I was bank fishing I'd still carry that big heavy tackle bag and just a couple rods. Now I've gotten to where I carry one Plano utility box and only a couple rods regardless of if I'm on the bank or in a boat.
