Shimano Spirex???
I had one a few years ago. I didn't care for the handle, but that's just a matter of personal preference. What really turned me off was that it didn't have instant anti reverse. I ended up giving it to my brother.

Would it be worthwhile to purchase this broken G Loomis broken rod?
I had to.

Lets see what's in your fridge.
I did my monthly grocery shopping today. I spent almost $40.

Odd hypothetical question but I'm bored so here goes:
I'd do it as long as I could wear these as a PFD.

You should definately buy this rod. Then, you should contact Ern for a broken, $24 Quantum reel to put on it.

Reel American Heroes Foundation First Annual Fishing Tournament
Could I compete in this tournament, and take another Soldier out as a nonboater? Or would that be unfair because we would be competing against each other?

Wow. New low in customer service.
I have no problem with Quantum. I don't currently own any, but I had a couple of Accurists that served me well for several years.

Most innovative concept to come out in the last 5 years
There are plenty of people out there who look like they know what they're doing, but probably don't.

Patents
Does anyone have any experience obtaining patents? How difficult was it, and how long did it take? I have an idea that could possibly save fishermen a lot of money and headaches. I am talking to a mechanical engineer at the university where I work, and I believe he may be able to bring my idea to life. I understand that I must have a working prototype in order to obtain a patent, but my idea is not so much for a new product, but a modification to an existing product. I wonder if I could use the existing product with my modifications, or would I have to build the whole thing from the ground up? Here is an example of what I'm talking about: If I invented a new trigger mechanism for a gun, could I replace the old trigger with my own, or would I have to build a whole gun? I know I could do some research and find the answer to my question (and I will), but I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with patents.

Quick before it's to late great Spinning Rod deal!
Oh well. I don't really need another rod right now anyway. Do they have more than one Facebook page? The one I saw was pretty much blank.

I already looked there. I'm not seeing it. Is this one of those deals that you have to call in for?

Do You Drink Energy Drinks?
The only time I regularly drank energy drinks was when I was in Iraq. There was a seemingly endless supply of Rip It energy drinks, and I always kept a few in my truck for late night missions. Stateside, I generally stick with coffee.
