In your experience does the whole “stained/muddy water is bad if water is too cold” concept hold true in most cases?
I had probably 8” of visibility on the susky and they were crushing cranks being burned today. Water temps were 50

Do you consider "live" bait cheating?
I grew up doing it . I don’t prefer it. Doesn’t matter to me if others do it. The excitement for me is knowing I cracked the code that day. An the great feeling of that fishing taking it when you least expect it.

Boat anchors
I think it’s minimal. I never use one though. I have it on board for emergencies. I run spot all the time even in super shallow water.

Best way to dispose of old gas?
Gas makes great weed killer….. I’m just kidding don’t do that. As others have said I am sure there is a place to dispose of it safety. Maybe even talk to your local garage they might know I could do it for you. that’s also a long time for a motor to sit. You may have some dry rotting issues from it not being used. I would take it somewhere local, close and have. A buddy on speed dail that could come get you on the water if needed.

@GaryH thank you buddy. It’s kind of taken a little blow of the fun for me. Especially since we didn’t get to fish much last year since I was between boats. @ol'crickety my dad is just turning 65 this year. This is his first health incident like this other than then general “wearing out” procedure of getting older each year. @gimruis as far as expenses go a guy who I go with once twice a year we trade trips. He mainly catfishes and I bass or musky fish so one time we catfish in his the next time we go in mine. This is how we repay each other. He lives about two hours away now. I think for me covering the expenses is just showing you appreciate it. I have fished with some great dudes who can barely afford a Walmart set up just love fishing. Show up with some doughnuts. I’m ok with that because it’s the appreciation of it. Now if you’re someone who’s going to expect to go a lot that ups the ante of you need to contribute more. I’ll never ask I just make a mental note of who does what and if they get an invite back or not.

Taking apps.
@ol'cricketythank you. It wears on me more than I let on. I mean it would be nice for someone to pay it all but, I’d be happy with splitting. Youre theory is correct though. I actually cut a guy off going with me. He was feeling like it was his right to go on my boat or choose where we go. I told him if you make a payment on my boat you can go again and choose the location we go. Till then it’s up to me. I honestly prefer to take new people to fishing they may never experience fishing out of a boat. Most times it’s a once and done thing. They do tend to be very very grateful. it’s just a bummer my dad has been my fishing partner my whole life. Now hopefully temporary he won’t be able to go.

Looking for new fishing partner. requirements: Dog friendly Punctual chips in with fuel has good atittude Doesn’t leave trash in the boat. I am not really looking for a fishing partner but, my dad who I mainly fish with had his kidney removed (cancer). From what we know he is on the mend but won’t be able to fish till probably mid to late summer. it got me thinking if there was an E harmony like app to find your new fishing buddy what makes him compatible with you?

Your career paths
@Woody B I know I was trying to be as non political as possible with my post. It’s a deep rooted issue far beyond any one industry. I will leave it at that.

Your career paths
@TnRiver46 covid ruined the trades. Closed the gap between skilled and unskilled workers. Drive a forklift for 22- $27 hour or weld for 22-27. Not really A hard choice if you’re making mid to low 30s here you are doing code welding. This caused a lot of very skilled welders to give it up leaving people who can just weld.
-
Your career paths
@Woody B we have great skills. It all just becomes the same. The science behind welding is interesting. Getting into different transfer modes how they work etc. actual welding for me is like waiting in line at the DMV.

Your career paths
For the record. I actually hate welding.

Bass Hunting
Melton hill is stocked? Musky have very poor reproduction rates and just as bad survival rates the first year. So if they did not stock there wouldn’t be a fishable population there. I would also assume that if man cannot ruin a population of fish by angling that other species of fish shouldn’t either? Blue cats, flat heads, snake heads, etc.

Bass Hunting
@TnRiver46 look at all the times people said in history something would never happen. Internet, cell phones, most people owning cars, flying, 4 stroke dirt bikes wouldn’t replace 2 stroke ones the list goes on. this tech isn’t even 10 years old yet. It’s really only been widely used the last 3-4 years. Let’s have this conversation in a decade when even more people have it, use it and are good at it. @gimruis I guess they just changed the limits because the musky are eating all the panfish 😂😂

Bass Hunting
@TnRiver46 If rod and reel can’t decimate fish populations why have states put in smaller bag limits of panfish since FFS came around? also just because fish are released does not mean some do not die later even if they swim away. This was proven in musky studies with delayed mortality after caught angling. Why would they not apply to other species?

When can I start fishing?
Just go fishing! It’s good for the heart, soul and mind.

Your career paths
I worked for a small family owned machine/ weld shop for 10 years. I was foreman of the shop eventually. During that time I also taught adult evening classes in welding at a career and technology center. for the last 5.5 years I have worked I have worked at let’s say a major company in the trucking field. I am welding technician. I test employees determine wage. I also implement new welding process, safe work instructions, as well as destructively test welds. When something does fail I have to explain why and how. So basically I am a welding geek.

Lake Fork
@PhishLI I don’t care about the daddies money thing. I raced motocross I know all about that. Does it put you behind the 8 ball? yes. You shut up and work harder. For me the FFS issue is the whole sporting aspect of it. These guys are flipping docks and fishing shallow with it too. It’s not simply a fishing in the abyss tool. It is taking away from the sport. In different aspects then we know right now. I don’t fault the anglers either. They are doing what they need to do to cash checks legally. Do it! I fault the organizations government and tournament ones.

Bass Hunting
I hate the use of FFS. I could have easily yet up my new boat with a few units but chose not to. I do not believe it is sporting. It will make bass harder to catch as it already has done to musky in the areas around here. Sorry bass guys were way behind the FFS crazy it’s been in the musky world heavily since it came out. They didn’t call it scoping though the term was sniping or sharp shooting. The only way for this to go away is the DNR, fish and boat commission etc to put a ban on it. I highly doubt any of the major tournament trails will ban it. If you ain’t scopin your hopin. I refuse to put this technology on my boat. I’ll hang onto my hopes.
