Diving Rat-L-Trap?
I have a couple of these babies, they any good? These are the 1/2 ounce size I do have some of the smaller ones. I’m not sure if they’re 1/4 ounce? How do the little ones do?

Loose Rat-L-Trap eyelet?
I’ve got a few traps, and the hook hangers or line tie has a little space around it. Some of them have a slight wiggle and some of them are still good and solid. Is this a problem?

Anyone else struggle to flip once on the water?
One of the things that made me a better caster was that I cast every single day for over a year. So instead of just casting in the yard occasionally I cast in the yard every single day plus fishing at least three times a week. Casting in the yard isn’t exactly the same as on the water, and there’s no substitute for time on the water, there is likewise no substitute for time with a real in your hand.

Thanks. That’s it! It’s just unfinished.

Patience, or…….
About 30 minutes, from shore. I usually will try at least two different lures covering two factors. Usually those two factors are fast and slow, and may or may not include different places in the water column. So it might be a fluke and a trap, a fluke and Texas rig, a top water and a Texas rig, or a top water and crank bait. It all depends on what I think there after that day. Then I might sit down and rest five or 10 minutes and contemplate what changes need to be made while the spot rest. After I make new lure selections and retire, I will hit the same spot again with a different two lures. Close your eyes and turn around three times, cast your stone and that is the direction thou should just fish.

Anyone else struggle to flip once on the water?
I don’t fish from a boat most of the time, but I’ve noticed the same thing in shore fishing. I practice a lot in the yard, all kinds of casting, and then on the water I’m not accurate. But I realized it’s because I was relaxed at home in the yard and I get a little bit anxious on the water. When I’m by myself on the water and I’ve been there a while, I calm down and I have pinpoint accuracy just like in the yard. I’m starting to get better. The other day I went fishing with a friend, and I didn’t think anything about it. I was skipping under this tree from shore. I’m not the best skipper yet, I forgot all about him though, and I was in the zone. He said “how are you doing that without backlashing?” That made me feel good. The other thing I’ve noticed is I most often use the same wore out spinner bait for casting practice in the yard. I use a whole bunch of different kinds of rods, reels, and line. So I use a half ounce spinner bait for practice and then switch to a weightless fluke on the water, and then of course it doesn’t transfer over seamlessly. So I’ve started using a smaller spinner bait.

Any help on the walking bait would be appreciated, I can’t find anything about it. I don’t know its name.

Tribute to Tom (WRB)
That is pretty nice! I learned a lot about jig fishing from Tom a lot about fishing in general from him.

Do you land your chatter baits on the bottom?
I’m just now starting to figure chatterbaits out, I fish him pretty much the same way I fish a rattletrap.

Big’un that got away… for now
I did get a look at it, so I’m sure it was a bass and it was a big one. The reason I think it was so big is how strong it was. The four pounders I’ve caught didn’t pull nearly this hard, or for this long. I actually wasn’t bummed at all at losing the fish. Now I have some excitement to go back and see what I can do. Probably my best chance will be at dark. I was fishing over a bluegill bed, and will return!

Big’un that got away… for now
Today was an interesting day. Across several places, I couldn’t hardly get a bite on anything other than top water. I did get one on a Texas rigged tube. However, all the others came on the Spit’n image. This evening I went to Bible study, and then I finished the private pond. That’s right up the road. Caught a few and when it got dark, I ended up fishing slow. I sat down and started fishing, really slow and methodical with my Spit’n image, mostly because I was tired. All of a sudden, I had a hit! I said the hook and started reeling towards me. I said out loud it’s a big’un! And then the fish turned and ran away from me and stripped off 30 feet line probably. It jumped and shook, and spit out my lure! I’ve caught several fish in the 4 pound range, with 4–11 being my PB I’ve caught four fish over 4 pounds that I can remember and none of them was as strong as this, or fought this hard. I will guess it was 6+ pounds. What do y’all think?

Living Rubber Skirts?
I found this video that I thought was pretty helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4f8FfnobRtw Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences.

Thanks. That’s helpful. I’ll probably start bringing my tackle bag in for the sake of all my soft plastics.

Living Rubber Skirts?
I appreciate the insight everyone. I am thinking, it might give me an edge for pressured fish. Might be worth the trouble. How does living rubber do in heat, but not direct sunlight? Like in my bag, in the car?

What are the names of these poppers and walking bait? Are they desirable?

Living Rubber Skirts?
How do living rubber skirt lures do in comparison to the more modern silicon skirts, with regard to pressured fish? So, lets say all the fish at my lake have seen a bunch of jigs, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits. Would it be worth trying living rubber skirts?

A few yardsale finds.
It says Red Zone, so I believe it's a suspending model. I thought that too, that it'd caught some.

Strike King Diamond Shad
I appreciate all the info. I haven't re-hooked them and fished them yet, but I'll definitely give them a try.

Fluoro Thoughts
Could you elaborate on the upsides of fluoro? Do you think it's the fluoro itself or the various upsides that produce more fish? For example, the increased sensitivity will contribute to more fish caught, but do the fish bite more because it's fluoro. Side note, I've experienced braid getting in the hooks on topwater many times. I might be the only one, but I work my Spit'n Image slow, in a cadence of about 1 twitch per second, and with intermittent pauses. I don't work a zara spook the same way, but a Sammy type, which the Spit'n Image is, I do.

Fluoro Thoughts
Some interesting insight, thanks all. I will have to give a better brand of fluoro a try. So far I've only tried Big Game.

Hollow Body Spook?
I ran across this while looking at instagram. Anyone ever try this? I bet it'd be a nice alternative where they have seen frogs a lot. https://americanbaitworks.com/products/zoo-dog?variant=45070625046815
