Hollow Body Spook?

I have em! I like them! I should probably toss them more but I think what you’re saying is probably true - it’s definitely something a little different from what they’re used to (in areas they see a lot of frogs).

I was throwing one yesterday. I love a spook but have tons of grass. And I haven’t had a good frog bite in ages. The idea was for this to be a top water I could bomb back into the mess, hop out like a frog or spoon and then walk aggressively in the open patches. I had a couple blow up on it but not get it yesterday. Then again, they did the same for the spoon and frog I had on. They just weren’t that into eating yesterday.

FWIW- it walks like a dream. Better than a 2 hook spook. I don’t know how much I like how skinny the hooks are and I bent mine out/up some.

Here’s another one to consider, Frog Factory Mongrel. Walking soft plastic with frog hook designed for walking in grass.

I like the Idea and have seen them here and there, but the hookup ratio is what I would be concerned about. Especially since bass might try to eat it headfirst since it's longer than a frog.

Comments I've read about them is they do get bites, but few hookups. Of course, you should probably bend up the hooks a little as you would with a frog.

I like the hook placement better on this one.

I've got something similar, bought years ago, but has a boot tail. Never got a single hook-up.

Just an FYI, I was told by GSM management that there was some previous problems with the Mongrel and they have been addressed. Full disclosure, I have not thrown one yet.

I have the Snag Proof version. Good concept, but the hook ratio is terrible. It walks great, I've had some vicious strikes, I've never actually caught a fish with it.

I had/have the original hollow body Spook from the 90's somewhere in my garage. I tried it for awhile, but it's darn near impossible to walk the dog over weedy areas. I never got a bite on one, so I "retired" it.
