Memorial Day ~ Remembering Our Heroes
- First Time With A Baitcaster
Take that baitcaster and throw the spinnerbait and learn how to get a rhythm with pauses and contact with cover that will elicit strikes that will put a smile on your face. Old school basser...- Memorial Day ~ Remembering Our Heroes
It's the soldier, not the reporter who has given us Freedom of the Press. It's the soldier, not the poet, who has given us Freedom of Speech. It's the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate. It's the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the Right to a Fair Trial. It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who gives the protestor the right to burn the flag. ~Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC- Why Remove The Dinks?

Spinnerbait fishing is #1 for me. Recently tried out some BPS Laser Eye spinnerbaits on sale. Bought the Single Blade 1/4oz. size in various skirt and blade colors. Performed well and caught more than a few LMB. Grade: A. Old school basser...- Sales And Deals Forum?
I seriously considered investing in a Pinnacle baitcaster that was being touted here. Went to BPS and Cabela's and Pinnacle was not well represented. Little things do matter. Old school basser...- Best Monofilament For Baitcaster
Today, stood on top of a flood detention pipe pitching Zoom June Bug worms on 10lb. Cajun Red line and watched 'em hit 'em both in clear water hit 'em. Tough conditions and Cajun Red comes through again. Old school basser...- Local Pond Changing?
In all my years of fishing I have seen ponds come and go. They all have a prime time but diminishing returns begin to set in and the catch rate is not all that great. Happens to big reservoirs, too. Not you. Just nature. Old school basser...- Plastic Colors
Red Shad June Bug Motor Oil Black Good luck to you. Old school basser...- Pond Fishing Setups
When I pond fish, I use a medium/fast 6'6'' medium rod. I want a rod I can easily throw 1/4 oz. spinnerbaits and ultra shallow cranks. I like it for weightless trick worms, too using 10 lb. line on my baitcaster. Sometimes down to 3/16 & 1/8 oz. spinnerbaits. I can throw those kind of lures on the medium rod -- difficult on med/heavy. I use mono. Old school basser...- Deformed

Stocked ponds with 100 percent Florida Strain Bass become as wild and difficult to catch just like their state brethren when the state stocks and manages its usually small lakes less than 300 acres, and in Mississippi they are sometimes less than 100 acres, in an effort to produce trophy size bass. Fishing on a private stocked pond, lake or whatever does not mean it's like fishing in a barrel. Old school basser...- A Different "private Pond" Question
Maybe you jest here. I'd fish it and enjoy every minute. I've fished hard hit public areas and loved every minute of it, but I have also been on private stocked ponds and the thought and work by the owners with intelligent management is a Basser's paradise. Bass Resource: http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/selective_harvest_bass.html- Reel Recommendations Please
A lot of good reels are being made today by lots of different manufacturers at all kinds of price points. Listen and get some good feedback. But don't forget to put the reel in your hands before you buy it. We are all different and the ergonomics of the reels are not all alike. Old school basser...- How To Gain Access To Ponds
Another method is to strike up a conversation with your co-workers and friends. Some of them will know someone in their circle of friends and family who might allow you on the property or go fishing with you. When in the fishing section in a store or at BPS or Cabela's be observant and ready to strike up a conversation about Bass fishing. One of my best contacts was made in a Wal-Mart while purchasing some renegade worms. It goes without saying to be polite and look responsible. It does help. You don't need a big boat and big water to catch big bass. Take a look at the state records and you will find more than couple of the records were caught in small bodies of water. If you are lucky enough to get on a private small body of water that has been stocked and is well managed by the owner, thank your lucky stars. It's highly likely you will catch some big ones. - So I Cant Get Bit With A Spinnerbait/chatterbait
Years ago I felt the same way before I started to catch them with the mighty spinner bait. The best is 1/4 oz. in white or white/chartreuse to get strikes and hookups. Other than early in the morning, it's the first thing in my hand. Wind and windy conditions are ideal. If you don.t have that, practice with your bait caster to enter water with your spinner bait quietly is paramount. The manufacturer of the spinner bait does make a difference. But whatever floats your boat. Good fishing. Old school basser...- Retention Pond Fishing Strategy
It's official name is Horsepen Creek Park in Cypress, Tx. It's a flood retention basin, pond, lake or whatever you want to call it is no big deal to me. It's very big and you can almost walk around the entire lake from the bank. There's a dog park fenced off that keeps you from going all the way around. No boats are allowed. 8lbs. LMB have been caught. Good fishing. Old school basser... - First Time With A Baitcaster
