  1. Good to hear, and i was checking those Black Label rods as well.
  2. How is the tip heaviness? Would need it to do well with jerkbaits.
  3. Anyone has one of their 5pc models? Was thinking of grabbing their M or the MH to try out.
  4. Its been a while since Megabass hasn't tuned a Daiwa reel, and released it under their name. The last one being based off of a Tatula was bleh. Now that Megabass is much bigger than what they were, isn't it time for them to come back in the reel market? They used to work on Daiwa reels, and they were great, but wouldn't it be cool to see them back in the reel market, but this time around, maybe, as the manufacturers? There is no shot a freshly redesigned Monoblock that is comfier to palm than a conquest 100 wouldn't sell out. We need new cool looking reels cuz those generic silver, or black reels from Daiwa and Shimano got old years ago.
  5. I too am a big fan of the Steez CT frame, but don't have any reels with it because they've never released a reel that uses this frame and supports 34mm spools. If they did this, i'd grab it day one. The new Pixy for the USDM market that just came out, and is essentially just an alphas tw, should have been based on the steez ct frame. Imagine a pixy on this frame, using 31mm spools so you could swap them around, and they made some limited edition ones with actual color that isn't the boring silver or black.
  6. Was using my pixy with px68 finnese special spool for american shad all day today. cought 59 shad, and was literally outcasting anyone from the bank by meters, and there was at least 30 people. This spool with 8-10lb braid and small aerodynamic lures is insane. I don't know why its not very popular, even back in the day when they were still in production.
  7. How old are we talking? Reels from the early 2000's like the alphas, pixy, tdz, etc, they're as good as what's on sale from daiwa and shimano, and if you tune them with additional bearings, carbontex, handles, spools and so on, i would take them over almost everything that's still in production. I don't have anything from the 90's and earlier, tho, and their looks are a bit ancient to me.
  8. The PX68 Finesse Special is awesome.
  9. I love them, but at the same time i feel like none of the ones that are currently sold are good enough. I want something tiny like the Conquest DC 50 and the Cardiff DC. All the current ones are too big. The palming side plate might be small on the new Conquest reels, but the reel as a whole isn't. Looking at that Loongze chinese dc reel, i don't get how is china made a smaller dc reel than japan, and when you look at daiwa offerings, they look like dinosaurs in comparison.
  10. Saw this on youtube, and They do seem to put a lot of effort. Now, companies that design their stuff in Japan, but make em in Vietnam like Megabass does, i don't think they should be charging as much money as they do for that reason alone, but the likes of DUO, still making their stuff in Japan, their price is worth it.
  11. I use white braid most of the time, with about a 1m long fluoro leader. For veggies where you i am going straight braid, then standard green stuff does fine.
  12. I want them to make a 4 piece model so bad. Would love one for travel.
  13. I keep seeing this on here and youtube comments, and it makes me wonder why people are still repeating this nowadays? DC being better for windy condition was real back in 2003, for sure, but ever since SV spools were made by Daiwa, just like for skipping and flipping, it has long surpassed anything a DC system can do in windy conditions. Today i had 20-25km/h head wind all day fishing for smallies from shore, using a steez 100SH with an SV spool, and it performed so d**n well, i was kinda impressed myself because i am not the biggest fan of SV spools in general. What's your opinion/experience with both braking systems for windy conditions?
  14. The OG steez looks like a recent racing car
  15. yahoo lol not even close.
  16. still using a pixy with a px68 finnese special spool, and see no reason to ever think of changing unless i want to cast under 1/16oz which i simply don't go this low.
  17. I don't use mono for anything else but leaders when fishing topwater. For fluoro, i like it for squarebills and that's it. Give me braid to a fluoro leader all day every day.
  18. That palming side plate can't be comfy to fish all day, can it?
  19. I don't agree with this at all. Loads of people bought the TDZ, OG Steez, Metanium2013, Met MGL, 2015 Met DC, and when the newer model comes out, people get rid of their previous version, that's why there's so many on the used market, and it has nothing to do with these quality reels not sticking with their original owners. Since the conquest has had a lot of different varients, its perfectly normal for folks to sell theirs to buy a new one that Shimano tries their hardest to assure you that its superior to a conquest that was released just 2 years ago.
  20. If that's the case, then how is the Conquest still this popular? And you can very easily tell that it is a very popular platform from simply seeing how many of them are being sold on the used market. What people want is for a round reel to have a comfy "palmability", and Daiwa is simply not on the level of Shimano when it comes to comfort on their round reels.
  21. Anyone else feels like daiwa is getting run over by Shimano and their Conquest line when it comes to round reels? They used to have a bunch of awesome Millionaires like the Ringa SSS, Ringa HLC, I'ze Light, the silver Ryoga1016 and many more, but now there's just nothing worth talking about. I don't know if the 2018 Ryoga is still in production, but that thing didn't hit the way the original Ryoga and the Pluton did. Same with the Millionaire CT, it just wasn't it. Have they abandoned bass round reels?
  22. Wanted to order one of those kits for my zillion, one with the gold engraving look. But kinda expensive considering that they're just stickers.
  23. SV spools from Daiwa are much better for a beginner than anything DC. DC is very cool when you get your first reel. Use it for a year, and you'll see that its nothing but a fad. Even the noise isn't "cool" anymore when you've heard it for some time.
  24. Zillion over everything on the market. Replace all bushing by quality bearings, and you get such a banger of a reel that nothing else matters.
