  1. That’s kind of what I want to avoid doing. I’d rather test it with my 7’4 and then but a nicer setup if I like it.
  2. Thanks everyone. I will hopefully end up buying a nice rod if I like fishing them, I just want to test it out a bit first.
  3. 7'4 heavy fast Tatula, my current frog rod. Rated up to 2oz. Do you think I could throw something like a Chad Shad on that?
  4. Do I need a designated swimbait rod to throw treble and jig hook baits in the 1-2oz, 6-7in range? Or will a 7’4 work in a pinch. I’m trying to see if I like fishing them before I go all in.
  5. What brand free rig weights do you use?
  6. Thanks very good points that I didn't really think about. In the video he shows different amounts of pressure so I'm sure that would be a better example, but still nothing like using the rod in person.
  7. I know it wouldn’t show you all the action but I think something could be learned from a wall test like this.
  8. I’ve never looked at the Loomis JWRs much but I saw an Omnia video about this model. I was surprised to see how slow this rod looked when bending it on the wall. Definitely not what I’d picture a traditional JWR action to look like. Does anyone that owns this rod have that experience? Also I’d love to hear if the IMX pro and NRX+ models both feel a bit slower than you’d picture for a JWR. Seems like a good braid to leader rod to me. I’ll add a picture of this rod from the video
  9. How do you feel about ripping bladed jigs through thicker grass with that rod? Is that a scenario that you’d use a rod with faster tip?
  10. Thank you! A video would be awesome if it’s not too much trouble. I like the rod bending videos Omnia does but I don’t think they’ve done one on this rod.
  11. So you’re saying the zillion has a softer feeling tip section, but once you get into the blank it’s a bit stiffer? So all in all it feels slightly more moderate than the Orochi Brallist. Like somewhere in between the Levant and Orochi Brallist? Or am I oversimplifying the difference between them? I’d use the zillion as a pitch and casting jig rod for 1/2 to 3/4, with braid to leader, basically in place of a Orochi Brallist even though I’ve never owned one personally.
  12. Anyone here have this rod? How fast is it? How would it compare to a little more “moderate feeling” fast, like the Orochi XX brallist?
  13. Do you think this will raise prices on sites like Digitaka?
  14. I love that grid iron hook. That hook on your arky jig put lots of nice ones in my boat this fall. I’m also excited to try this style jig head with a 7/0 hook and a magnum rage bug. Thanks! Not just you, I’d love something like this also!
  15. While scrolling through Siebert Outdoors the brush jig caught my eye. It looks quite similar to the Dirty Jigs grass wizard jig. I’m curious how this jig will work in grass, and how wide the jighead is compared to the grass wizard jig. My final question is if all the Siebert brush jigs, like the megalodon jig use the same jighead.
  16. I've never fished these before, but I'm curious what happens when you pause them. If they sink like a rock on a slack line could you put a bit of tension on the line and have them "helicopter" down, or glide off in one direction? Why couldn't you do this during your retrieve? Thanks
  17. I’ve got a reel that I can adjust lure retrieve speed on too. I just turn the handle faster when i want it to go faster, and slower when I want it to go slower
  18. Thanks! I’ve used that mn dnr website before but I will definitely look into more. I’m with you in considering 5lbs a giant largie up here, but I’m really trying to break the 6.5lb mark so that’s my goal for now.
  19. I’ll start by saying that this is ment for the guys up north, I’m sure it’s much different for guys down south. When you are specifically looking for lakes to target trophy size largies what size of lake do you find most productive? I know that this probably varies so much depending on many factors, but if you are in a new area looking at a map what size lakes are you looking for? Up here any small lake that is less than ~15ft deep, without moving water will probably winter kill occasionally so that narrows down some of the small lakes. Once you’re done looking on the map and get on the water, what are you looking for then? Amount of bait? Water clarity? Weed growth? Amount of small bass you are catching? What else are you looking for? Again I’m taking about true trophy size fish not just bigger than average bass.
  20. I was looking at the IMX pro 883bjr but I’m curious to see what people say here.
  21. Thanks. I should have said that I also do a good amount of casting jigs in deeper water and thinner grass. You think an extra heavy and braid will be too much for this, or would I be better of with a different rod for that.
  22. I’ve been shopping for a jig rod that fits my style of jig fishing, using braid to leader, and fishing jigs in decently think grass. Since I’ll be using braid, I’d like a rod that is on the slow side of fast, maybe all the way down to mod-fast, but either way enough power to flip jigs up to 3/4oz. I know the g. loomis magbass actions are know for their versatility but because it would be a designated jig rod, I wouldn’t need it to be used for anything else. The loomis I was looking at was the IMX pro 904mbr. I feel like the extra length would be nice to help pull them out of the grass. How to you feel about that rod being used for my purpose? Im open to other suggestions also, ideally under $400
  23. I suppose I have seen less guys Muskie fishing. Trout is definitely less common farther north, there’s only a couple stocked streams up here.
  24. I agree 100% I’m glad our largies are probably the 5 most fished for species up here after walleye, musky, crappie, and maybe smallmouth. Definitely spread out the fishing pressure on them.
