Last i heard our lakes have over a foot of solid ice still, its going to be a while for me.

I know this was a while ago but how'd you end up liking those Burikins? How do they compare to the good ol' magdraft?

I just checked here, 7 1/2in of snow and it’s still coming down.

I was looking at the Owner twist Lock flipping hooks and it got me wondering about flipping/punching with twist lock hooks. I could only think of positives about these saving a bunch of money on soft plastics, but what are the negatives? Not being able to tie a snell knot? lower hookup ratio? Has anyone here tried this style of flipping hooks? What did you think?

What trailer size do you think will look the best on them?

People maybe heard his name last year around the opens but I’d say lots of guys had never heard of him until he won.

Tournament was on Ray Roberts in Texas. It’s Fothergills first year on the elites this year, he qualified through the opens last year.

How heavy would you feel comfortable flipping/punching with on the 7'7H? Up to 1oz or maybe 1.25 in some think stuff? I can't decide between the 7'7 H and 7'6 XH exprides.

There is a whole new factor to consider on the hookset when in a canoe or kayak. You get pulled towards the fish! I am a braid to leader fan also.

I’ve heard of pike and Muskie snapping the line with their gill plates when they turn. Could this have been what happened or did you actually see the fish inhale the bait that far?

I fished bladed jigs on a standard 7’3 fast action rod with braid to leader and had pretty good success hooking and landing fish last year, but I enjoy fished them a lot so I decided to get myself a designated set up for them. I fish bladed jigs by ripping them through grass 90% of the time so I liked the faster action and braid and I was 100% set on picking up a IMX pro 883 BJR. That is until I heard about Alpha Angler Chatterbound from @AlabamaSpothunter and others. I’ve heard pretty much all good reviews on this rod and people say that the landing percentage is second to none. I’ve heard that it also makes a great crankbait rod but that almost worries me. My worry that this rod would be too slow for my style of fishing them through the grass. If you own this rod how would you feel about using it with braid and ripping bladed jigs through the grass? Should I just go with the Loomis?

I just heard that a local lake has 11 inches of ice so it’s melting pretty fast. I’m not a panfish fisherman but I’ve been itching to get on the water so bad that I might give it a shot this spring, as well as graphing a couple lakes before the weeds grow up. Turkey season is first so I’ll focus on that in the mean time. The bait monkey has got to me bad I’ll admit so it’s going to be fun to fish with my new gear. I think a catch and release only period from ice out until end of June would be great. It would benefit the fish and the fishermen bette then the regulations do now. I mean bass don’t even spawn in the closed season right now and I’m sure lots of guys eat fish that are full of eggs and spawning.

I was looking on tackle warehouse and I came across the Nichols catalyst. I was interested because it looks like some of the colors have a different skirt style and a smaller front blade. Here’s one color: And here’s another: See they look completely different? Almost like they should be two different models. Is one style the 3/8oz and the other the 1/2oz? Does anyone here own these? Right now I have a tatula 7'4 heavy that's rated up to 2oz. A freestyle with a 3/8oz owner beast hook would be about 1.5oz like you said but a 3/4oz beast and freestyle would be right about 2oz, not ideal for that rod definitely. I wouldn't mind overloading a rods rating slightly with treble hooks and just lob cast but I'll probably pick up a rod with a higher rating for weedless and jig hook applications.

You throw the fatty on a 8/0 beast as well?
