  1. May 31st Amazon has Strike King KVD Jerkbait 200 for $6-13 depending on color. Berkley has most Stunnas on sale. $11.49
  2. I use reusable silicone sandwich bags (although not gallon size). Super cheap depending on where one obtains them.
  3. Allow me to quote #the reel ess" on another post thread (here) that I think is relevant to this post. Quote, "One thing I've come to realize is it's not so much the bait as it is simply locating the big fish and that fish being in a feeding mood." That is the challenge and I've said this myself. The fish are there I just have to figure what they want. Sometimes the fish don't want to cooperate Skunk days do come but time on the water is still good.
  4. In the YouTube search, type in "The Swearing Angler".
  5. May 27th A.M. Clear blue skies and calm winds. By noon partly cloudy with calm winds to slightly breezy. Water temps in low 60s which was about 5 degrees colder since the last time I fished that pond. Morning bite was moderate, then picked up around noon. Most productive lures: Top water zara spook and worms, texas rigged and wacky. Seen a few bass jump right through the lily pads and that's when I threw the zara spook. Chain pickerel and Largemouth Bass were the fish caught. One brown trout on a jerk bait. Sidenote: Seen two bald eagles and a fox. Seen your video when you caught these fish.

  7. Holy snapping turtle! Never seen that before.
  8. I use Ande mono Back Country Blue. Tried braid a few times, never cared for the stuff.
  9. @AverageAngler I go as often as I can but I keep an eye out for the winds since I fish from a canoe. i.e., I do not go when there is a small craft advisory This week's forecast does not look promising. "maybe Friday", we'll see.
  10. That is a great statement!
  11. I do the same. Cheap and effective.
  12. Fishing Report May 16th Went to the same lake since the last report. Fished until 1pm. Very calm winds all morning. Air and water temp averaged in the high 60s. Bass were hitting the top water as well as jerkbaits. I'm trying different kinds of jerkbaits ever since I lost two Megabass lures in one day, before I settle in on which ones I prefer. Besides the Megabass, i.e., the Vision Oneten SR, Vision Oneten Jr and the X-80 Trick Darter, so far I have tried: Berkley Stuna 112 Realis 85SP Livingston Jerkmaster Jr Strike King KVD jerkbait 100 They have all caught fish with the Jerkmaster Jr catching the largest bass so far. Has one outperformed the other? At this point, I can't say for sure. Cheers.
  13. Cormorant chasing fish.
  14. Take a look at these. https://daiwa.us/collections/freshwater-rods/products/aird-x-rods I bought two of them for the grandkids. They are a little top heavy but not bad for what it is.
  15. Last year while fishing, while being stationary, we noticed a sculler about 200 yards away. We didn't think much of it, since the sculler had passed us a few times already. As chance would have it, my friend and I were retying and putting on different lures then - KA-POW! The sculler rammed us like a Ben-Hur movie. The sculler boat hit us port side and rode up the side of our little boat, then slid down toward the bow our little jon boat before finally resting in the water. After the initial shock of everyone involved, the sculler was profusely apologetic. I informed him that no one got hurt, both boats remained floating, no gear fell overboard, and most important, again, no one got hurt. He apologized again and continued on. He continued on his way and we did as well. Later during the day, we were on the west side of the lake and the sculler was on the east side of the lake. We seen each other, I waved, he waved and I shouted, "Hey, we are over here"! To which he replied, "I appreciate your humor". This is one adventure on the water I won't forget!
  16. No. However, I watched a small snake swim across a small river and waited for the big blowup. It never happened and the snake made it to the other side. This told me not to use a topwater lure at that moment
  17. Herring Run
  18. The last few times I have fished have been shallow body lakes and FYI the deeper lakes such as South Watuppa Pond the water temp was in the low 60s as of May 3rd.
  19. May 8th, Thursday: Fished about 6 hours this morning. Caught an assortment of fish. Largemouth but nothing of any size, crappie, sunfish, trout, perch, and chain pickerel. A few chain pickerel were fat too. The chain pickerel were on a feeding frenzy. One bass hit a top water but that did not last long before I switched to other lures. Jerk baits and paddletails were the best producers. Caught a few on crankbaits as well. All in all, half of those caught were bass, a few chain pickerels, and a smattering of panfish. Weather: Clear skies eventually partly cloudy. Temperature: 55 - 63°F Wind: Calm Wind Direction: N then S Water temps in the high 60s and by mid day 70 degrees. Lost one lure, and friend hooked himself! Cheers.
  20. Contrast Sport fishing and fishing for a living.
