Pitching mono diameter
The reason I suggested Ande is it’s a premium line available in 50 yard leader spools. Stiffness shouldn’t be an issue with a leader, it’s not going into the reel spool. ande doesn’t offer 25#, 20# or 30# are the choices. Sunline Armilo doesn’t offer 30#. I thought you were looking for leader mono. If you plan on straight mono then Armilo 25# is a good choice. Tom

Pitching mono diameter
Ande has very good abrasion resistance and knot strength. If $$ isn’t an issue use 25# Sunline Armilo @ .016D. Tom

Alabama bass?
2 separate species of Spotted Bass, the Northern or Kentucky and the Southern or Alabama. Like the Northern LMB and the Florida LMB they don’t remain pure species for long when occupying the same ecosystem, they intergrade fast. Southern Spots, like FLMB, grow nearly 2X in size as pure strains. When they hybridize with other bass species like a Spotted bass and Smallmouth you get a Mean Mouth Bass. Where are pure strains found anymore, certainly not in California. Tom

Pitching mono diameter
Super Natural is too soft, low abrasion resistance then most other Mono lines imo. I suggest looking at leader size spools. Ande 20#, 50 yds for $5 Tom

Cast iron pans.
The issue with dish soap and cast iron pans is soaking in hot spooky water. I was thought to put water in the hot pan, boil the water and rinse. Any residue a drop of soap and hot water rinse is all that is needed. Pre heating your iron pan is like ore heating your oven or BBQ grill you want even heat. Cast iron heats evenly given time to heat, something that will ruin most other pans. Peach to his/her own cooking methods. My wife is a far better over cook/chef then me, my skill is on the grill....and apple pies? Tom

Large swimbait and/or glide bait preferences
You can skip a treble hook lure but the hooks will snag line a % of the time. Soft top hook lures skip better but not designed to be slammed against the water surface and will tear. I my opinion skipping a big swimbait is a poor choice too load and will spook any bass nearby. Better off imo to cast beyond the tree if possible and swim the lure as close as possible to trigger a feeding response. I am out of the swim bait game today and haven’t kept up with the lures availed and BR doesn’t have a lot of dedicated big swimbait member anglers, a few. Tom

Backlashing mid cast/ Can't get distance
You do the same with any line type, sometimes it works. A deep backlash rarely occurs with mono, more common with dry FC and braid. I learned to cast using braid back in the 50’s it was the only line available for casting reels. When mono came out and reels designed for it like the Ambassadors in the 60’s no more braid for me. When “super” braids came out in the 80’s the reels were not designed for the abrasive line and grooves were cut into guides and level winds until titanium nitrite or ceramics solved that problem. Today the braid I will use is coated FINS braid in 65# for heavy cover frog fishing and 10# for finesse spinning with a leader and only as a last resort. Tom

Why I say most people can't/shouldn't rebuild a carburetor.
Did mention I grew up working on a boat landing now called a marina, well rebuilding carburetors on the rental boat fleet was part of the job. Tom

Backlashing mid cast/ Can't get distance
I have over my time in this site suggested anglers new to bait casting reels learn to cast their reels using 12 lb Big Game mono. The reason is mono is easier to learn to cast with and Big Game is good inexpensive line. I have recommended pulling off 50 yards of braid and tape over the spooled line using Teflon plumbers tape with a few wraps, then winding the 50 yards of braid back onto the reel spool. The reason to reduce the amount of braid when backlashed going deep into the spool. A deep backlash using braid is nearly impossible to pick out without cutting the expensive braid. Tom

NOAA - the best feature for me as a bass fisherman.
Today we have Doppler radar at our finger tips for accurate weather currently and within a window of being on the water. Forecasting weather today is a combination of aircraft flights, satellite overhead feedback, high and low pressure in real time plus Doppler radar. It’s fairly accurate along the west coast where I live. The issue is we have 2 major ocean currents coming together 75 miles north of me that impacts the weather and compounds predicting weather patterns several day in advance. 24 hours in advance the weather reports have been accurate. Cast iron pans.
Nothing cooks more evenly the cast iron and a well seasoned pan creates wonderful flavors that coated cast iron can’t duplicate. You should’t clean cast iron with dish soap or put it in a dishwasher, ruins the seasoning. We have a set hand me downs from both parents who received them from their parents. I have a large gas cooking island and use it nearly year around u less it’s raining. Cook nearly everything from vegetables, fish, meats and fresh peaches for desert. My wife has her AlClad for the kitchen and I have the cast iron for my island. Tom

How would you rate yourself ????
Fishing skills are not as good as they once were. Still confident with whatever presentation is needed to catch bass consistently from light weight finesse to big swimbaits. now if I could only into and out if a boat without stumbling, old and stiff. Tom PS 2005 I just bought a new bass boat and on top of my game. 2020 I sold the boat because my wife didn’t didn’t trust me to fish alone...time changes everything.

Copolymer for drop shot
Rod & reel you use? I have drop shot and slip shot using 5# Maxima Ultra Green copolymer line for over 40 years using Spinning tackle. 1 knot is 100% better then 2 knots using a leader. Down side is you need to manage your line and untwist it after each outing. My method was cutting everything off the line and dragging the line behind my boat a few hundred yours before putting the boat on the trailer, never had any line twist issue. Tom PS, 5# UG has stronger knot strength then 8# FC.
