  1. X3 Dont forget to wipe it down and check for loose items that may blow out during the trip home. (i.e. life jackets, wallet, phone, towels, etc.) Yep, lost em all at one point or another
  2. They make a mooring stake out of PVC pipe that you basically screw into the ground in the lakes of northern Mi. Especially for the party coves. However, Rhino is correct, why not trailer it up? It only takes 5 minutes and your boat is absolutely secure. If its a matter of not having a ramp or you are in a remote location then I have also seen (and done) beach the boat and tie it off to a tree
  3. I am actually excited to work it. If nothing else it will be an enjoyable day on the water. it may be tough not to get a line wet though. IMO it is imperitive that we continue to bring young people into our sport. This seems like a good organization and I also have an 11 year old who would love to participate but they are full. I will keep you posted when the event happens
  4. What health issues did he have? Cancer?
  5. Whats funny is that you can't really tell when he is being serious and when its schtick. I love Zona....
  6. already did. You need the same coverage as fishing tournaments. The lake I volunteered for is TM only also
  7. Curious: Have any of you volunteered to donate your boat for youth bass tourneys? I signed up for the Cincinnati youth bass club and am actually very excited to help get kids into the sport. Just curious what kind of experience you all have had doing this type of thing. Thanks for the feedback
  8. Tough conditions lately with all the weather changes. Don't get discouraged. Fish are very lethargic in these temps and chances are you are fishing too fast. When you think you are fishing too slow, slow down.
  9. Went out for the second time this season yesterday. Air temps in the mid 50s, water temps in the upper end of the lake 48.5 degrees. Hit lake points and shallower coves in every section of the water column trying to find fish. We tossed cranks, blade baits, jerkbaits, shaky heads, jigs. Nothing. Had one hit on a Gulp shaky head spot remover. We mainly fished the upper end of the lake as the temps were a bit higher. Marked fish suspended but could not get a bite. This lake is less than a mile from my house so I will fish it often this year. Looking for some more feedback on the lake
  10. BTS The only thing I use on my boat. Ocassionally, you can recieve discounts for being a member here on BR (hint hint BTS advertisers)
  11. Stay away from the Chili Dog at 3am............... :-/ to each his own I guess
  12. Sfritr replied to Sam's topic in Everything Else
Uh whoa..... Sam thanks for the info. I cant wait till the CWS. Last year had some fantastic games. It will be interesting to see what happens next year when most college divisions outlaw composite bats and go back to sticks.....
  13. I have two stickers on my boat 1. An Eagle Claw lazer sticker for my local circuit. Eagle claw gives an extra $50 if you take a picture of your trophy with their logo in the pic 2. The local outdoor store that put my on their prostaff and gives me 20% discounts on tackle. Also a family friends shop.
  14. scenerio 1. I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they posess inside........... Scenerio 2. Grab board from kid, run over board with truck. (much more gratifying ) Scenerio 3. go into store, buy big gulp 64oz or better, drive by kid again in lot and chuck it on his head. A Drive By Gulping..... (also gratifying ) ;D
  15. 10 ft bassraider with trailer. boat had more silicone holding it together than an L.A. housewife. paid $0.00 Still wish I had it........ its been 6 years
  16. By the way, Thanks Glenn. that was really informative and cool to see him take time out to do that.
  17. spare trolling motor???? He almost had more tools than gear. But, I bet he has been in countless situations where everything in his boat he has needed at one time. Nice Rage box. Bait monkey got knocked out when he took a swing......
  18. I should add that the cattail root is best harvested in the spring of the year when they are the sweetest and freshest. As the warmer temps come they become quite bitter
  19. If there are crayfish and crappie you can bet there is a healthy population of bass in the pond. However, the pond could be out of balance. Meaning, there could be an overpopulation of smaller bass that are choking the growth potential of the overall school. My advice would be to start keeping many of the smaller bass or donating them to the local coon and possums. Also, although it may be cold the root of the cattail is quite good to eat and is a delicacy in may finer restaurants. It is very crisp and has a nice sweet flavor that is great with salads, soups, etc. Yet another way to utilize your abundance of them and thin them out. good luck
  20. The house we just bought in Cincy is 2 miles from a lake which happens to be trolling motor only. Not the best lake in the area but the cheapest. Went out for the first time last week and from the time I turned on my truck till the boat got wet was 7 minutes.. Not bad
  21. IMO the 201 is one of the best hull designs ever. Smooth, dry ride and good in rough water. You should be very happy with that boat... (as long as the motor is in good shape)
  22. The question is: Tell me how you view women fishing with you? Answer: with little to no clothing on but that is how I view most women in my head...... : : My wife is a great fisherman! She is lights out with a Senko. I love to see women in the boats on the lake. We need more female anglers. I thought it was fantastic to have the two ladies in the mens' Elite tourneys...
  23. Rhino Nice setup. However, I am a bit disturbed by the large number of white flammable containers in the background???? Maybe I should alert the mods to contact the FBI???? Not planning on flying any time soon are you?? : :-?
  24. They had those on clearance at my local Sams club for $250 with the 30lb TM. I am still kicking myself for not buying it. I owned a 10ft bass raider and although it was cracked and took on a bit of water we caught more fish out of that boat than you could imagine. It was great for getting in smaller bodies of water. Fit perfectly in the back of my pickup. You can get a foot controlled TM for those as well. Get it wet and start catching fish. You should be all set with no extra gadgets
  25. Great Question.. All marine products give off a semi toxic residue that can hinder your fish catching abilities. EXCEPT for BTS Just kidding...... however, get yourself a bottle and you wont even have to clean your boat as often.
