  1. Looked like a nice birthday! Thumbs up to the wife taking you there for your birthday.
  2. I have been using 10 lb Tatsu for leader and I haven’t had problems with knots. This year I been fishing more braid Seaguar PEX8 18lb and Power Pro slick 2 10 lb. I haven’t caught a lot of fish this year, but no breaks so far with leader knots. “Weather related” high water , high winds or cold. I fish the river for small mouths only. I have fished fluorocarbon 8 lb and feel my hook up rate suffered a little bit. Edit: Will have to experiment with a longer leader.
  3. I read some threads where some people fish only braid. Here’s where I get confused?? They fish braid with a 20 foot Fluorocarbon leader. Isn’t that much leader defeating the propose of the braid? Myself I only fish about 5 foot of leader, and if I am fishing 10-15 lb braid I have had ok results with no leader at all. Mostly because I am fishing a reaction bait. Thanks
  4. Have a heavy enough setup that you can get a good hookup. Next best thing is make sure your hook is sharp! A- Jay is spot on.
  5. Glenn one more thing? 😄 It was 96 degrees Tuesday and this morning it’s 42 degrees. The fish is confused 😀 Thanks again!
  6. I might still have a few of them Jelly worms, if I dig out my old worm bag. I was fishing them in the early 80’s. I believe I was fishing 6” and 9” jellyfish worms.
  7. Probably a lot of the Pro Fishermen use fluoro because that’s what their sponsors want them to use. And they most likely get it for free. I use mostly fluoro and I like it on the river that I fish.

I fish a river and in the spring I like to fish with 1/16. It has some drift to it. Most other times fish 1/8 oz
  9. I’m 70 years old and past my prime but in relatively good shape. Being retired I go fishing when I want, if I wanna go for four hours, I go for four hours, if I feel like going for more hours I go! I no longer plan on fishing in the rain. Even though I now own better rain gear than I have ever owned….HUK Even though I’m 70 I think I am enjoying my fishing more these days.
  10. I fish a River majority of the time I throw smaller baits and the catch good size small mouths. Going to big baits it’s a whole different ball game. Throwing big baits can wear you out. When I’m throwing big bait I don’t expect very many bites. The fish in the picture is a small mouth and was caught on a tube. It measured 22.5”
  11. We had rain all day yesterday which compounded the problem! There really wasn’t a whole lot to do. Thank You!
  12. Front facing sonar I would guess would be the biggest change. Seems like a lot of people are pretty proficient at it. The finesse baits have changed a little. Ned’s was big 5 years ago. Now a lot of people are drop shoting .
  13. My finesse fishing is close to ultra lite fishing. Sometimes 4lb test 3” twister tail. Most of time 6lb test. I fish rivers and creeks mostly, not really many lakes. Back when I was growing up. I would go dig some worms and fish them most of the time. 😃
  14. On my river most of the time I use 1/8 oz, 2 -10 feet of water. Fish 3.5” tube most of the time.
  15. I would rebuild or at least clean the carburetors. If the engine isn’t getting fuel the cylinder isn’t getting lubricants.
  16. Jim’s creek side river flies. Does a lot of buck tails and fishes what he ties.
  17. Water temperature here is around 60 degrees. Tube green pumpkin, hair jig black & blue, crank bait or chatter bait to cover a lot of water.
  18. That setup should make fishing more enjoyable for you! Awesome fishing platform….enjoy!
  19. San Diego, jam knot, for them other times Double Palomar They are my most used knots.
  20. I have had a few boats with carpet. And in the spring when the ramps were all muddy. I would take my shoes off so I wouldn’t track mud all over the carpet. My latest boat no carpet and no longer any mud worries. Gets a little dirty…a quick rinse with a hose is all. Only disadvantage is in the summer heat the metal gets warm. Which I can deal with.
  21. Your fish apparently missed you 🙂 Way to figure it out, and nice first outing!
  22. We haven’t had very good weather in central Pa. 17 degrees Wednesday with a few snow flurries and a lot of wind. Yesterday: wind 14mph from the East and 33mph gusts. Hopefully better today.
  23. Good Luck tomorrow…Hope their chewing!
  24. Your saying max scent is money well spent for whacky?
