  1. What speed/gear ratio reel is best paired with them?
  2. USPS hasn’t been to bad for me. Had poop bait was supposed to get delivered on a Friday and got delivered on a Tuesday. “3 days early” But as mentioned I pick my rods up locally. I’m in Pennsylvania. I have had Amazon show a package was out for delivery a few times , and it never showed up till a day or to later.
  3. River fishing Usually 3 spinning rods and 3 bait casting rods Choppo Senko/Whacky Jig 3/16 or 1/8 oz finesse Frog Square Bill Usually experiment with a bait.
  4. My PB largemouth 7.2 lb caught on 6lb test on a purple slider worm 1/8 jig head. My PB smallmouth 23.5” weight unknown. Caught on 4lb test on 3” motor oil grub. 1/8 jig head. I have thrown some big baits and 22.5” smallmouth has been the big fish.
  5. I believe in fishing natural colors. But sometimes find myself fishing red or chartreuse jig heads. 🤔 On the fishing shows they say how great a product is,but they are getting paid to say that probably. Hosts on some shows say how good this cheap reel is. But on their shows they are using a $500 reel.
  6. I used a homemade hand tied hair jig, black & blue most of the time. I have been experimenting this season with 1/8 oz Keitech jig with a rage baby craw for a trailer.
  7. You’re getting it done! This spring, things are not wanting to line up. Dealing with high water again.
  8. Looked like a nice birthday! Thumbs up to the wife taking you there for your birthday.
  9. I have been using 10 lb Tatsu for leader and I haven’t had problems with knots. This year I been fishing more braid Seaguar PEX8 18lb and Power Pro slick 2 10 lb. I haven’t caught a lot of fish this year, but no breaks so far with leader knots. “Weather related” high water , high winds or cold. I fish the river for small mouths only. I have fished fluorocarbon 8 lb and feel my hook up rate suffered a little bit. Edit: Will have to experiment with a longer leader.
  10. I read some threads where some people fish only braid. Here’s where I get confused?? They fish braid with a 20 foot Fluorocarbon leader. Isn’t that much leader defeating the propose of the braid? Myself I only fish about 5 foot of leader, and if I am fishing 10-15 lb braid I have had ok results with no leader at all. Mostly because I am fishing a reaction bait. Thanks
  11. Have a heavy enough setup that you can get a good hookup. Next best thing is make sure your hook is sharp! A- Jay is spot on.
  12. Glenn one more thing? 😄 It was 96 degrees Tuesday and this morning it’s 42 degrees. The fish is confused 😀 Thanks again!
  13. I might still have a few of them Jelly worms, if I dig out my old worm bag. I was fishing them in the early 80’s. I believe I was fishing 6” and 9” jellyfish worms.
  14. Probably a lot of the Pro Fishermen use fluoro because that’s what their sponsors want them to use. And they most likely get it for free. I use mostly fluoro and I like it on the river that I fish.

I fish a river and in the spring I like to fish with 1/16. It has some drift to it. Most other times fish 1/8 oz
  16. I’m 70 years old and past my prime but in relatively good shape. Being retired I go fishing when I want, if I wanna go for four hours, I go for four hours, if I feel like going for more hours I go! I no longer plan on fishing in the rain. Even though I now own better rain gear than I have ever owned….HUK Even though I’m 70 I think I am enjoying my fishing more these days.
  17. I fish a River majority of the time I throw smaller baits and the catch good size small mouths. Going to big baits it’s a whole different ball game. Throwing big baits can wear you out. When I’m throwing big bait I don’t expect very many bites. The fish in the picture is a small mouth and was caught on a tube. It measured 22.5”
  18. We had rain all day yesterday which compounded the problem! There really wasn’t a whole lot to do. Thank You!
  19. Front facing sonar I would guess would be the biggest change. Seems like a lot of people are pretty proficient at it. The finesse baits have changed a little. Ned’s was big 5 years ago. Now a lot of people are drop shoting .
  20. My finesse fishing is close to ultra lite fishing. Sometimes 4lb test 3” twister tail. Most of time 6lb test. I fish rivers and creeks mostly, not really many lakes. Back when I was growing up. I would go dig some worms and fish them most of the time. 😃
  21. On my river most of the time I use 1/8 oz, 2 -10 feet of water. Fish 3.5” tube most of the time.
  22. I would rebuild or at least clean the carburetors. If the engine isn’t getting fuel the cylinder isn’t getting lubricants.
  23. Jim’s creek side river flies. Does a lot of buck tails and fishes what he ties.
  24. Water temperature here is around 60 degrees. Tube green pumpkin, hair jig black & blue, crank bait or chatter bait to cover a lot of water.
