  1. i'd just go and buy another volvo
  2. as other have said depends on what you are doing. Shore fishing usually 2. Bank fishing at night from the ramp i usually bring 4, so i don't have to change lures and re-tie at night and on my boat anywhere from 4-10 depending on what i think i may need and if i have anyone else on the boat. Each rod will be rigged differently I may bring 10 but my goal is to narrow down my rods too 1 or 2 once i figure out what the fish want. If i'm going out to learn a new technique i only bring 2 rods though rigged with the same bait in case i get a real bad backlash or something. So the answer is, anywhere from 1-24 rods is the right answer. It depends on what you are trying to do, and what kind of angler you are.

lol, i started reading halfway down and actually thought this was real for a second
  4. I have the same tube. It's the only one i've owened but i think it works great, never had any trouble with it. Yes you can deck your jon boat, look around you should see some pics of decked jon boats on this forum. As far as how safe? depends on your balance. I have a tracker grizzly, and it has a small front deck buit into it. I've never had any problems and am probably going to extend the deck this winter
  5. well the celtics just took the first game, so far so good WOOT!!!
  6. also make sure your fishing and trying different ponds. I notice ponds around nh tend to come in 2 types. Lots of bites and little fish, or fewer bites but larger fish, even when i'm using the same lures and techniques. The first key to bigger fish is finding quality water. So if you only catch little fish you may need a new place to fish. With that said, i will also tell you that my largest bass 7lbs 1oz, which i just caught recently was on a lake where i've had a hard time catching larger fish.....so basically i'm no help at all good luck -chuck
  7. good solid fish. never been good at guessing weight so i'll leave that to someone else. I'm one of the only people I know who tends to under-estimate weight so you probably don't want me to guess.
  8. "What if's" are why my tackle bag weighs 75 lbs. I have the same problem. I carry this huge bag, and hardly ever use something different then I have rigged on my 8 rods already. Of course there are those few times that I have had to really dig and try some interesting stuff. "what if's" are what make fishing fun
  9. How do you become a certified crankbaiter or spinnerbaiter? It's simple i'll send you a genuine certification for being the ultimate crankbait and spinnerbait pro in the mail which will guaruntee you success and fame. all you need to do is send me 3 easy payments of $19.95 -honestly, just keep throwing it. Spinnerbaits baffled me until one windy day i decided to just throw spinnerbaits. After catchin a few fish i started to figure it out, and now they are one of my favorite baits
  10. Thanks for the help guys. Everyone has basically answered my question. I think what i really want is just a longer rod. I like some of the flipping sticks because they are telescopic and around 7'6". but i think they will be to stiff for an ideal pitchin rod. I don't really have a need to flip where I am at, but pitchin is something i do often already and am looking to do more sam- I keep hearing about this jig fishing video, but can't find it anywhere. I can find the book, but i'd prefer to have it on video. I learn better visually. thanks everyone
  11. make sure to get the clarks at northen bass and not somewhere else because it's cheaper their then wal-mart or another store. Since one of the guys at northern bass actually wrote it
  12. a philosophy or fine arts degree.....or anything you really want to do if being a pro doesn't work out Your college degree won't make you a bass pro, only being the best fisherman around and winning tourneys will. You should probably choose a degree in what you are interested in other then fishing to have a backup plan
  13. Hey there, I'm trying to focus and improve on my pitching technique and looking for a rod specifically for that. My question is should I be looking at flipping sticks if i reall just want to pitch, or is there another action and power that I should be looking at. I like the flippin sticks because of their lenght, but would they be to stiff for soley a pitching approach? I pitch mostly jigs, tubes and creature baits, as light a weight as i can get away with.
  14. awesome, just awesome
  15. Thanks baboosic. funnily enough i went out to that same spot last night and fished the same buzzbait, and caught the smallest bass of my life, lol Brian-I'd say overall still in spawn right now in most places i'm fishing
  16. Went out again late last night and caught 4 bass on swimbaits. Nothing huge but my confidence is growing. I think it may be time to graduate to using some larger swimbaits for larger bass
  17. If you want to build confidence, keep fishing them at night. I usually nail fish on a black and blue colorodo almost anytime i go night fishing as long as there is at least a little wind
  18. Thanks guys And Redtail, i always set em free. that way I can catch em again. So i went back out to the spot where I caught the 7 pounder today, and decided to throw the same buzzbait to see if i could get similiar results. I caught a bass, but it was just a little bit smaller them my BB Did okay on some small swimbaits though. caught 3 keepers in under an hour
  19. x2 Killing fish sucks, but it happens, and if someone is going to eat it then it's really just the same as buying haddock at the grocery store.
  20. +1
  21. Wow, sorry to hear about your tough times. You'll be in my prayers. And if you are ever up in NH, your welcome on my boat anytime. That of course goes for anyone on this great forum as well. Good luck, and keep on trying, you'll catch a hawg soon.
  22. Largest LM is 7 pounds 1 oz, caught on a buzzbait just this past week. No pic, cause I'm an idiot and didn't bring one cause I was only going fish for an hour. Turns out that in that 1 hour I caught the best fish of my life so far.
  23. Thanks! Yup I always use a trailer hook on any buzz or spinnerbait. I would hate to miss a fish because i was to lazy to add trailerhooks
  24. NEW PB 7pounds 1 oz!!! Went out night fishing today, and caught my new pb on a buzzbait. First fish of a year on a buzzbait and man was it huge. I only went out for an hour and didn't even bring my whole tacklebox so I had no camera. Tried to take a camera phone pick but i just wouldn't come out, to dark. Oh well. I put a whole report in the fishing outings section, but just wanted to share here as well. I'm so excited I don't think I'll be able to sleep
  25. So i went out to a small pound down the road from me today to fish from shore for an hour or so before i went to bed. I grabbed three rods that I already rigged up and took off. I got there at 11:00pm. I've been having pretty good luck with large spinnerbaits at night so i started with that. No luck Next I tried a chatterbait because of the heavy vibration and it was a pretty windy night blowing straight towards my shore. I figured the extra thump might help. Again, not a nibble Finally I threw out a Cavitron buzzbait, which I haven't caught any fish on this year at all. I actually almost left it at home thinking it was to early up here for topwater. On the 4th cast i was just letting it thump along when I hear this giant crash right next to my bait, but no tug or hook up or anything. So I reel in as fast as I can and cast right past where the splash was. It was so dark tonight with no moon visible that I could barely see the lake, and as I'm cranking in, another Huge splash, but this time there is resistance on my rod. I slam home my hook set, and can feel the fish fighting and thrashing. Unable to see anything I had no idea what or how big the fish was on my line. Often while night fishing I think a fish is bigger then it is, just from not having any visual and all the adrenaline that goes with fishing in the dark. Man this fish is fighting hard. pulling and tugging. Finally I get it up to shore onto the sand, and turn my headlamp on. This fish is BIG, is my only thought, I didn't even drag it out of the sand at the shore, I lept right in about a foot deep and lipped her right there. I get my bait out, and my arm is dragging. This is definitely the largest bass I have ever caught. In NH a good bass is 4 pounds, and I'm sure that this one is at least 6. So i grab my scale and hook her up. The final weigh in is 7 pounds 1 oz. I nearly flipped out. I know down south that may not seem so big, but up here the state record is only 10pds 8 oz. I'm still shaking as I type this. The only bad part is i didn't have my camera. I forgot to put it back in my bag after my last trip out. All I got was a horrible camera phone shot in which you can't even tell if it is a fish or some sort of log I am holding. Oh well, this memory is going to stick with me forever. And thanks for letting me rant, This is a long post, but i'm so excited I just wanted to share it with everyone
