  1. didn't try to eat it, but i did see a bass attack a beaver once. pretty strange
  2. these are great aren't they. I have on that i leave at my parents river. I can always just stop by and go fishing, no problem. It's like a floating suitcase, but super stable
  3. Gas hasn't really effected me much. With a 25hp on the back of my 15ft grizzly, I really don't use that much gas at all anyway. Mostly just run to a part of the lake and troll all day.

x2 The best deal in bags in my opinion
  5. This happened to me recently. I took a buddy out fishing, and he's only been fishing once or twice before. I told him that the best way to catch bass was to "chum" the water, like fishing for Jaws. So i have him rub crawfish scent all over his hands and start splashing and running his hands through the lake as we troll out to our fishing spot. Everytime he started to slow down, i reminded him that the only way to catch big bass is to keep "chumming". I think he would have done this forever if i hadn't finally broke down and started laughing. Apparently "chumming" doesn't work. We barely caught anything that day
  6. I do everything left handed and always thought it was a pain, most things are made for righty's. But when i started baitcasting i was so happy. All of your so called right handed reels work for me just fine, no need to switch hands at all
  7. Went out to turtle today in concord and had no luck, 7 pickeral and no bass. The water was super dark, and i was looking for nest but didn't see any yet. Not a bass in sight either breaking water or cruising around. I did manage to get a nice sunburn and work on my casting accuracy. but other then that nothing. ahh well, there's always next time
  8. comparing the stx to the zillion, i prefer the zillion. I love them both but something about the zillion just feels a little better in my hand
  9. someone hook me up with the bracelet if you get the chance. We definitely need to get some NH mojo on that bracelet at some point. The mojo bracelet is a great idea
  10. that stuff you have sounds like it will work just fine up here. i'd say if you only had 1 rod and were fishing from the bank a M would be your best bet, but that's all based on preferance and techniques you prefer. The only thing i would add is some kind of frog. most of the lakes up here are natural, and many of them are ringed by lilly pads in the summer. A frog is going to let you fish those pads, something like a horny toad will give options on above the pads or sinking it below them. I don't see any real need to downsize for up here. It never hurts to have some smaller stuff in case the bite gets tough, but that goes for anywhere in the country. hope this helps
  11. i stand all the time, just make sure you have good balance

I have plenty of ink myself, but i always tell people to make sure that it's something that you will be proud to show your children, that has personal meaning to you, and that you can hide if you need to. you never know where you are going to end up in life and you never want a tattoo limiting your career options. also make sure you do some research on the artist. It's not like if he makes a mistake he can just erase it.
  14. This is the best forum that I have ever been a part of. I have learned so much from this site, met new friends through this forum, and grown in a fisherman in ways that I would not have without the wisdom and the help from countless members. I truly appreciate this forum and the people who do the work to keep it running smoothly. As I said in another post. Even though we have thousands of members. I consider this forum to be my fishing family.
  15. I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I also got my first Jig fish today, actually 4 jig fish. I've never really worked at jigs prefering to fish t-rigged worms and lizards, but now am hooked on the jig. Again I have to thank this forum for all it's info and especially one member !pain! who took me out today and showed me the ropes. I love learning new techniques. Here's a pic of my first Jig fish
  16. I had on mostly a pumpkin green boyah flippin jig w/ a green craw trailer. and I Pain's jig was a black and blue craw w/ pork trailer, lunker city i believe. We also caught some fish on craw worms and senko's
  17. Went out today with !pain! on corbett's pond. Even with the cold rain had a great day. 18 bass over all, 16 were LM, and 2 Smallies. All of the fish were between 1 & 3 1/2 pounds, with most in the 2-3 pound range. The best part was that I had my first jig fish today, actually 4 jig fish, and I can tell you for sure that I am now officially addicted to jigs. Feeling that tap right before the hook set is almost as exciting as topwater. Here's a couple of pics of Pain's smallie, and my first Jig fish ever
  18. Thanks guys Cory N, I was fishing very slow, cranking the bait quickly to get it down, and then one long rod sweep letting it sit for a full 5 count and then one another rod sweep. I was using x-raps exclusively in the smaller size
  19. I have been a member of various forums for various activities. Everything from airsoft, to basketball, to model building. In my opinion forums are the greatest invention of the internet. I can learn more information about a specific topic in a few hours by asking questions or reading old post then I would be able to do in a year on my own. With that said, this has been by far the best forum that I have ever participated in. Even though we are all at our own desks in our own homes, in many ways I consider people here to be my fishing family. I have asked numerous questions from the simple to complex and have always recieved great answers and been always been treated with respect. My wife actually is amazed by how civil this forum is compared to a couple that she visits. I think that most of that comes from the realization by most members that we are all fisherman and were all beginners at one point. And also through the dedication of the mods to make this a place that everyone can enjoy and I sincerely thank you Glen and the other mods for their effort
  20. I tube up here in NH and it's great. I can hike out to ponds and lakes that no one else ever fishes or even knows about. However kicking a tree limb underwater sometimes feels like a skeletal hand reaching up to grab you. Other then that it's as super relaxing
  21. Just wanted to thank bass resource and everyone on it for all the great information that is on this forum. I've never been any good at early season fishing and with the weather being so crazy this year up in NH, i was sure that my spring fishing would be worse then usual. But because of this forum, it's discussions, and articles I was able to learn about jerk baits and the right way to fish them. It gave me the confidence to stick with them and eventually they have started working for me. I went out just yesterday and caught 7 bass in an 1 1/2 hours on jerkbaits during a 50 degree rainy cold front after the last week was in the 70's. If it hadn't been for all of the discussion and information on these baits here, i probably would have just tried a few cast and given up. But other peoples success gave me the confidence to branch out and try these baits instead of sticking to old patterns and techniques. Just wanted to say thanks
  22. I've been out in the rain a couple of times lately, and the only thing i'm catching on is jerkbaits right near weed edges. Just trying to keep them from hanging up the weeds, and trying to find some part of the lake that's a little warmer then the rest. Yesterday it was the differance of a degree. I caught all my fish in 51 degrees instead of in the 50 degree water.
  23. bps rod sleeves and reel covers work great for me
  24. To go with the topo's for small lakes, also better ramps at smaller lakes. Up here in NH there are so many great lakes that are impossible to get a trailered boat into, even a small one I'd also like a lure that searches out, tracks down and hooks the largest bass in the lake all on it's own. All i have to do is reel it in.
  25. not big at all, just 14ft jon basically on a trailer. I think i should be able to get it into drew. But the stumpfield launch was extremely shallow, just humps of mud, hardly any water.
