Crank Baits not working
bump them off stuff, wood, rocks, the ground. Also make sure your trying different retrieves. If your in clear water or slightly stained, watch to see if any bass are following the bait. That might tell you that you just need to change up your color or retrieve a little bit

JDC skip-n-pop
JDC skip-n-pop Anyone have any experience with these baits? They look like a great option for a popper around weeds and for skipping under docks. They look great, but the real question is, do they work? I'd load a picture, but i can't with my system at work. http://www.jdcbaits.com/catalog/riggingsnp.php

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Thanks Pain. It feels good when your struggling and find a way to turn it around. Baboosic, lately i've been finding fish very shallow, sometimes in just a foot or two of water. I've just been looking for the warmest shallow water that i can find in the lake, and that's been working pretty well for me. Went out today to Haunted lake with Jaystraw. Had a decent day. I think we got 9 fish overall, only 3 that would be considered keepers. Everything we caught was on plastics. I couldn't really find a great pattern, mostly we just covered as much water as we could. here's the biggest i caught today

program for fishing reports?
I like to keep track of how my fishing day went by typing out a fishing report for myself. Hoping that this will help me develop better seasonal patterns and to help me remember/locate hot spots on lakes i haven't fished in awhile. Right now i'm just doing it in Microsoft word. But it's hard to put any kind of pattern together since i basically have to read through every report that i've typed for each lake. Does anyone know of any kind of fishing report program that might help me with this? I've tried anglers e-log, but it kind of sucks and seemes to delete some of my reports or get them messed up. Any help would be great. Thanks

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Got out today also for a few hours at the piscatequog river. Had one of the best days that i've had all year. It took me an hour and a half to get a bite but as soon as i found them i really slayed them. I could only get a bite on a senko, and 4 of my 9 bass were in the same small lillypad patch The patch was about the size of a car. My biggest bass, over 4 pounds, i caught in an isolated milfoil patch no bigger larger then a trashcan lid. That was a cool fight because i could see him buried up in the milfoil and it took 12 casts before i could get him to bite. All of the fish were on one sand flat no deeper then 2 1/2 feet. Once i figured out the pattern i consitantly caught fish until i had to leave. Exept for that one lilly pad patch i went around looking for isolate milfoil on a sand flat and there was a fish in every one. To bad i wasn't fishing a tounament, today would have been a pretty good limit for me 1over 4 pounds 2 over 3 pounds and all of the other 6 were between 1 1/2 and 3 pounds One of the best days i've had fishing in a long time me trying to hold the 4 pounder just before measuring him all of the fish were caught in this back cove on a shallow sand flat

repairing rod tip
So i just recently bought a shimano crucial and when going to load up my boat I asked my wife to help me carry a couple of rods to the boat. Instead of helping, she decided to close the rod tip in the front door and snap it off. How easy is this to repair? i see rod tip repair kits at tackle shops but have never done any work on a rod before. And if i do repair this on my own, will it have any detrimental effects on the rods peformance. Thanks for the help

storm kickin slab
i actually had gone to dicks to pick up some of the kickin minnows, but they were all out so i decided to try the slab instead

storm kickin slab
What hook on top? i've heard some bad stuff about storm, but this bait looked to be made well. Once i get out this weekend i'll give it a try, and at least give a preliminary review

storm kickin slab
No help on this bait huh? Maybe i'll just have to do work with it for awhile and post a review myself.

Cleaning aluminum bass tracker

storm kickin slab
anyone ever try this bait. There was one at Dick's and i picked it up last night, mostly just because it looks good. Thanks bait-monkey. Decided to finally try something in the swimbait range. Anyone have any experiance with this particular bait? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=90535&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
Anyone been having trouble with the nite bite lately? Up until about a week and 1/2 ago, i could go out late at night at any of the closest lakes near me and be garunteed at least 2 decent bass in an hour or so from shore. However the last 3 times out i haven't been able to get a bite at all. I've tried plastics, colorodo spinners, willow-leaf spinners, buzzbaits, and topwater. Is it just getting to cold at night for the largemouths and they are moving deep until it warms up in the day? I'm waiting to get a hitch on my new car too, so I can't even take my boat out at this time. Ah well Jay your giving me to much credit for the plastics. we didn't even catch anything the time i went out with you. But i'm glad to see that you've been doing so well lately. You've been putting up some nice fish

Biggest Pickeral i've caught
Thanks guys. Honestly I have no idea what the girth was. The state record was only 26" but weighed 8 pounds. I really wish I had had a scale to verify this one. I doubt that this one weighed nearly that much, but i really would like to have known. I'm pretty good at estimating bass weight, but pickeral are so long, that i can't really get my head around what it might weigh

Nickel spinnerbait blades?
i don't use nickel blades during the day, but i often fish them at night on my spinnerbaits. They work well for me at night. I think it lets the bass focus better on the bait, and not the flash of the blades, while still getting that great spinnerbait vibration

Biggest Pickeral i've caught
Now normally i consider Pickeral to be a junk fish, but when you catch one this big in my area it's something pretty cool. This fish was just a hair under 27 inches. I didn't have a scale to measure it unfortunately. I caught it right in my parents back yard, the live right on the river. Here's a pic of me, and my dad's arm holding it up Here is a picture of the fish next to my Son. That's my brother holding him and my dad again

Ever catch a snake or a frog while bass fishing?
never caught a snake or frog. but i have caught plenty of freshwater mussels. If you crank across the bottom of the Merrimack river in NH, the mussels will close on the treble hooks as they go by. I've caught 3 little ones in one retrieve. It's a real pain in the @ss when trying to crank flats.

The Senko has to be the most lethal lure ever made
I think Senko's are great baits, and i catch more fish on them then anything else. However I think that many people fall into the trap of only fishing these, and thinking that if they aren't working then the fish aren't biting. In my experiance I've found that most days that the fish will bite the Senko, mostly watermelon w/ black fleck. However on those days when they aren't i try something totally different, spinnerbaits, rapala floating minnows, Topwater frogs. And in the end I find what the fish want for that day. Senko's are great, just don't live and die by them, otherwise you'll be missing out on some of the best fishing days of your life when all the fish want is a white spinnerbait etc....

suggested size motor 14'jon boat
i have a 14 ft with a 30 hp on the back. It works well for me. Whatever size you get, make sure that it doesn't go over the hp rating for the boat.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
spent some time hanging out at my folks house on the Piscatequog river. Wasn't much of a bite going on, except for this one huge pickeral i caught. It was by far the largest pickeral that i have ever hooked, and the toughest fight that i've had bringing in a fish to date. I didn't weight it, but it was 27 inches long. Caught on a 5 inche senko This is me and my dad holding the fish And here is another picture of the fish with my brother, my son, and my dad

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
haven't done much smallie fishing this year, but in the past i've had good luck on green/brown jigs, and poppers. Also the bite has been pretty good for me for spinnerbaits lately. Don't know if this will carry over to smallies, but it can't hurt to try
