  1. I just picked up an AC66MHF. I really wanted the 610MHF or 70MHF, but for $102 I decided to settle. So much for the Crucial that I was planning of getting.

    #1 and 1/0 Gamakatsu splitshot/dropshot
  3. Fenwick, not Falcon. I have the FTO boxes on the brain lately. I am leaning toward the crucial. That is what I originally was looking for until the tackle shops guys started talking up the Fenwick. Andy
  4. I am looking for a new senko/jig baitcasting rod. It is pretty much narrowed down to a Fenwick HMG 6'6" MH or a Crucial 6'6" MH as those are what I can get locally. The Fenwick is $119, the Crucial is $129. What would you get? I am upgrading from a 6'6" M BPS extreme. Andy
  5. What do you use?
  6. I would think that the ATV would have no problem pushing the boat on a flat surface. I might get a little concerned about braking on an incline. It would really suck to find out that your new ATV does not have the balls to stop your boat on the 25' downhill roll or even the gradual downhill slope to the neighbors yard. Just something to think about. I might be totally wrong.
  7. Here are the floors in my boat. I did not add a livewell but with 2 trolling motors, 2 batteries, ice chest and two people the boat still floats great. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1183418037/20
  8. I know where my next batteries are coming from. Do they fit in a standard battery box. My group 29 barely fits
  9. Did you check out with the sears guy at gunpoint for that kind of deal
  10. I have a new 40lb powerdrive and I am happy with it. The foot control is fairly easy to use, but it is my first bow mount so I have not used one that rocks front back instead of left and right. I have had times when it was on momentary and it can be hard to hold the button down and rock your foot to move and steer at the same time I had to have the longer cord for the foot control with my boat set up, or else I would have probably bought a normal mechanical bow mount. I have heard several people say they are not as precise and easy to use as a normal bow mount. All an all it is a good motor. Andy
  11. My 125 ah battery wasn't but $70something at Walmart. Everstart marine max group 29.
  12. I don't use the tubing, but instead just put a little chunk cut off a trick worm on the hook after the trailer. I have not lost a trailer hook yet. Andy
  13. I already have 10x the confidence that I had in the #2 hooks from all the positive replies. I am going to try them first this weekend and move to the 1/0 if I miss fish(if I can catch one to begin with) Andy
  14. I have 2 packs of #2 and picked up 2 packs of 1/0 today. I will try both and go from there.
  15. Does anyone use a #2 Gammy drop shot hook for LM Bass. # 2 was the only size that I could find today so I picked them up. I tried to nose hook a finesse worm but am afraid that the thickness of the plastic takes up too much room on the small hook. Will the worm move out of the way or interfere with hooking the bass? Andy
  16. I have had my 14' aluminum v-hull out 6 times now. When I am heading across the lake it looks like the boat is not tracking straight. The front seems to be more to the left than the rear, that is just what it seems like in the boat. I have not been able to watch it from shore while someone else drives it. I currently have a 40lb bow mount and a 28lb stern mount trolling motors on it running simultaneously. It also did it when I had just the stern drive on there. does it have to do with the fact that I am electric only and just not going fast enough to get on plane? Could it be weight distribution? My battery is in the aft right corner if that matters. Thanks for any suggestions. Andy
  17. I just had this conversation with a guy who fishes with us.. he is an engineer and seems to overthink everything. he says...the two trolling motor thing is silly. The 55lbs thrust motor is already pushing the boat faster that the 30 lbs so you are negating most of the thrust of the 30 lbs motor. adding the 55lbs motor to the 30 lbs motor does not make it 85lbs of thrust...more like 60 or 65 lbs of thrust at the most because the 55 lbs motor is already pushing the boat faster than the 30 lbs motor can catch new water to push the boat. I do not know about that... I think though that your speed would be about the same. I just tried out my 40lb bow mount with a 28lb stern mount and there is a very noticable difference from when either one is turned off. It feels like the difference between walking and power walking. It took me less than 10 minutes to get to a spot I fish, when it normally takes 15 minutes with the stern drive.
  18. I picked up my new powerdrive 40 today and have a few questions about mounting it to my boat. I wanted to put the shaft directly in front of the boat, but I lose to much area to bolt the TM down to. Does this look like an ok position?
  19. What is the proper way to cast out a jig? I am fishing in about 15' of water. Using a baitcaster how do you let it fall? Should I lock the spool and let it sink where it may? I have been stopping the spool with my thumb when it hits the water and then letting the bait take line off the spool until it stops so it will fall vertically. I have been told you always want to let a jig fall on a tight line to feel the botton and strikes on the fall.
  20. I also have a vector charger that is a 2/6/10 amp model. It seems to work well. I think I paid under $30 at Lowes for it a year ago.
  21. I lucked out because one of the avionics techs at work had 50 feet of aviation grade 4 gauge wire laying around his house, very high strand count and tinned conductors. I also got a 50 amp button resettable breaker to go along with it. Andy
  22. How bad does it kill the battery to run two motors simultaneously? I have not seen a 75 lb 12volt TM, which is what mine would equate to. I am thinking that having that much motor on just 1 12volt battery might be bad for the battery with the very quick discharge rate, or that it drastically reduces the runtime that I will get with my 40 lb bow mount. I don't like to paddle and I don't feel like experimenting with a brand new $75 battery so I am asking the question. Andy
  23. Does anyone here run or have ran 2 trolling motors off of one battery? I am talking about a 40 lb bow mount and a 28-35 lb stern mount off a group 29 walmart battery The stern mount would only be used for the 15-30 min ride in and back running both motors for a little extra pickup. Andy
