  2. $50G's for a boat, I think my wife would shouve it down my throat side ways with the outboard running ;D
  3. What part of texas are you in and What is the distance that you are willing to drive. You and send a private PM if you like. I'm in Houston and I could point you to a couple of sources for used or new to you outboards
  4. I found the same add with pictures on craig list for canada. I would have to agree with the others. At that price it either a scam or a type po... Maybe they wanted to read 2005 Ranger Bass Boat Z20 2005 with Evinrude 225 E Tec HO - $29000 and not ... 2005 Ranger Bass Boat Z20 2005 with Evinrude 225 E Tec HO - $2900 Their is a limit to the amout of key strokes that you can have in the label for the craig list adds I think that craig list allows 65 key strokes including spaces. The one where the price is 29000 has 66 strokes and the the one with 2900 has 65 strokes http://montreal.craigslist.org/boa/452911080.html just my 2cents CGH
  5. Some call it Wal-Mart I call it the poor man's rental center ;D Not 100 % Sure about this but it might be worth a thought. The plates in a Marine battery or thicker than the plates in a car battery this is I beleive is to helping them survive all the bouncing and jaring around that they may be subject to onn a boat. Sure they will work but they will not last due to being drained downed and the abuse of being on a water craft
  6. LBH, Sweet ridr but I think you might need to ad one of those wale tales to get it to plane. Or else it just going to just plow through the water and waste gas! 8-)
  7. Check your connections and make sure all are tight. Move your transducer as far away as possibe from your main motor as possible. Check the bat connections on both the Unit and the outboard.
  8. I second that key thing to the third power. I have a spare truck key in the cowling of all my outboards. cause more than one i have lock my self out of the boat hauler :
  9. I seen quiet a few that were epoxy to the trolling motor or installed on a homemade bracket that attached to the trolling motor. Here is a link to Trolling Motor Transducer Mounting Bracket sold by Bass Pro shops http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_1212?cm_mmc=froogle-_-200-1-6-_--1-_-38-567-604-00&hvarAID=froogle&mr:trackingCode=F597F85A-107C-DC11-BE2A-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA
  10. If the forty is a better deal you can always buy it and run it at half speed. I would rather have a 40 that i only use as a 20 rather than have a 20 that i will have to run at WOT to get the same speed and proformance as the 40. And i woud dare say that you will get better gas milage withe the 40 at 1/2 to 3/4 speed than with the 20 at wot Just my 2cents CGH
  11. 24 volt 6 hp !! but that price. But on that 60volt system no way To me it seam like the extra weight of the batteries 10 batteries 600 pounds, 8 batteries 480 pounds. All to get 6 hp out of a electric motor. Man that little 6 horse has to push 480 to 600 pounds and that not even including the BOAT, YOUR GEAR, AND OF COURSE THE FISHERMAN ;D And the cost alone is just way to far out their for 6 little horses. But to each his or her own. If you got a boat that can handle 600 pounds of batteries and what ever the motor weighs and still be a good fishing platform go for it!
  12. Here was the only reference that i found on teh web that listeda prop size for the 20HP Johnson 1969 http://www.dixiemarinesales.com/Propref.aspx 20Hp (1969-1977) 389390 SST Propeller 9 1/4 x 9 763587 Aluminum Prop 9 x 9 763583 Aluminum Prop 9 x 10 389320 SST Propeller 9 1/4 X 12
  13. I don't think it happens to the best of them, or even those mired in mediocrity. You have to be asleep at the wheel or in la-la-land to do this. I guess there is one exception. You could accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. How many of our 11,000 plus members have ever done something like this? Please chime in. I did this before, Baytown Tx 1998, I was on a very short ramp with 15' 6 Boat. The tow vehickle was a 1987 Dodge Ram 50, Same as the Mitsubitche Migthy Max. To launch a boat at that ramp I would have to put my back tires in the drink about Half the way up. I had just drove the boat on the trailer and was tying it only up in the front. and the brakes on the truck started slipping. I jumped from the boat grabed the side of the trailer and grabed a pole at the launch. I was able to hold boat and truck in place while asking one of the halfwits that were watching me struggle and laughing at the same time to hop in and pull the truck foward. Of course no help was given. I release my hold, ran to the truck and by the time I got in, put it in gear the water was up to the floor board. Save the my truck and the boat but learned a value lesson. If people are laughing don't ask for help, cause they will more than likely not give it.
  14. Sure that 5hp B&S will push you around anybody of water just at a slower speed. They are what they are, a lawnmower engine sitting on top of a lower unit. That said, they have their place. Briggs does NOT recommend trolling with them, how ever nothing in the manuals says you can't. My friend in Boisser City, has one that he likes cause no mixing of the gas and oil and he can putt around on Cross Lake aka Crappie Heaven all day. But to me it's just way to noisy. It did push my 1432 really good though
  15. How about; Ba Ba Black Sheep With Pappy Boyington The Rat Patrol "Four Men, too may for the German Army" Me and my brother loved those ld war pictures
  16. Southpark Fishing Bill Dance (Just love to see him catching his pet fish LoL) Family Guy CSI Any One of them Fishing with Roland Martin Because he calls everybody "Son" Hank Parker Outdoors And just about any fishing show on saturdays mornings when I'm not at the office. Would be fishing on Saturdays but some low life air stealer stole my boat puller
  17. I don't think Texas regulates HP on a water craft. I think that if the GW's see that your craft is being operated unsafe they will ask you follow them back to the ramp and that you leave the that body of water but no ticket if you do as you are told. As long as you can operate the boat in a safe mannor put as much HP as you want on it. Just understand no insurance compay will cover you and if their is an accident and your at fault it will cost you plenty. Me.... Alumweld 1448 Jon Boat Deck front and rear rated for a 30hp and I run a 50 on it. Only issue i have is when i come off plane i have to either make a quick turn or give the throtle a quick trottle up to escape the wave that will form behind the boat.
  18. If you have the money and the storage space for either go with the one that will best meet the need of your style of fishing and the type of water that you fish. All three are great boats so i don't think you would go wrong with either choice Me I like the Skeeter ZX 180
  19. My brother and some of his fishing buddies at Barsdale AFB use them all the time while crappie fishng. I think they work better than two ancors alone. The ones i have seen have all been home made nothing from stores, just good old home brew thinkng!
  20. Them marinas are tough some times and when they don't have any space they don't offer to much in the way of help. You don't really need a climate control storage space, but i would stick with in doors if ya can find one Like LBH said, If ya gotta buddy that don't live in one of those #@$% HOA area see if he will rent you a little space at his home to store the boat.
  21. Stumped me too. I can generaly find almost anything on the net but this boat "Sonar Bass Boat" only shows up at that web site. It looks like the 18 foot skeeter my brother has. But more than likely it a a knock off of one of the "NAME" brands water rockets

  25. Now that was one of the best answers that I have read on this board... I would have to lay my bet on teh 2 1/2 years mark For what it's worth it seam it base on who you ask: See Below Sexually mature usually at age II or IV. http://www.bio.txstate.edu/~tbonner/txfishes/pomoxis%20annularis.htm Age at maturation: In Texas, some individuals mature at age 1 (Carlander 1977); In Illinois, maturity was reached by 2 or 3 years (Hansen 1951). http://fishresource.com/fish/fish010.asp Mature crappies (2 to 6 years old) http://elib.cs.berkeley.edu/kopec/tr9/html/sp-black-crappie.html Black crappie become mature in 2-4 years; The maximum life expectancy has been reported as 8-10 years (Scott and Crossman 1973).
