  1. awesome fish man!!! pretty sure they are spotted bass though :-?
  2. just call it 7 and a half and after you're done calling it 7 and a half, GO BUY A SCALE! ;D ;D
  3. haha if i catch something (specially a big one) you WON'T STOP hearing about it ;D
  4. i epoxied the head. it went well. no problems at all with the head! tomorrow i will put the second coats of epoxy on everything and then after 24hrs it will be ready to fish!
  5. awesome! whats that floating PVC doohicky in the water? is that what you use to temporarily hold fish you catch? cuz i notice sometimes you are holding multiple fish in your photos.
  6. im diggin the smiley! ;D cut out gills are very easy. i didnt use an x-acto because the wood is basswood and that would be d**n hard to carve with an x-acto. what i used was a dremel with this bit: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=94703-353-194 that bit makes it super easy! i put the first coat of epoxy on the midsection. unfortunatley it didnt go as well as the tail section. i started running out of time and epoxy so i got kinda sloppy inside the joints. i also accidentally touched my knuckle to it once or twice when it was drying but that leveled out. but it is still totally covered, just a few small pits in it which will get filled in with the second coat.
  7. depends on what "kicking your fanny" means to you. he catches a lot of little fish, i catch a few bigger fish. the way i see it, he ain't got nothin' on me
  8. who ever goes better bring me back a BBZ shad ;D
  9. first coat of epoxy is on the tailsection...no fatalities....yet . in a few hours i will put the first coat on the midsection. this [epoxy drying] is going to be a long, drawn out time period; i think im gonna go ahead and get started on my next bait!
  10. TOAD! way to go man!!! i LOVE how there are no hidden baits or blurred backgrounds in this pic the pics look amazing and that fish looks absolutley huge. congrats on your catch man.
  11. haha that game is awesome but you can really burn yourself out playing that. i used to play it a lot every day but it eventually gets REALLY old REALLY fast when you are playing the same sonts over and over. CANT WAIT TILL GUITAR HERO: METALLICA COMES OUT!!!!!
  12. how was the fight? ;D
  13. paul that is awesome. im gonna have to get me one of those baits cant wait till i finish the swimbait im working on and smack some hawgs with it!
  14. WHAT A DINK! : ;D
  15. i loved the movie! this show is so funny. i crack up each time i watch it. i think i laugh more when watching this than south park!
  16. i purposly didnt put fins on it for fear of the fins stabilizing the lure and taking all of the swimming action away. i might put fins on my next one. i started this on sunday, but i havent been working nonstop.
  17. hookem, i didnt have any problems painting. the reason i paited after i put them together was because i used the vise to press the pieces together after i glued them, and i didnt wanna scratch my paint with the vise. well i got all the paint done. i wanted 3-D eyes but didnt have any so it was time to improvise! i painted a black dot on a piece of aluminum foil and then put a blob of hot glue over it. when the hot glue cooled, it hazed over, which was neat because now it is reflective and hazy, just like a real fish eye. i am pleased with the results tomorrow morning it gets epoxy!
  18. surely somebody here saw the Reno 911 Season Finale last night. IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!! but that cliffhanger at the end really me off.
  19. have the second half painted now, all i have left to do is paint the joints, head, and epoxy the whole thing!
  20. too late for that now! it has more tail wiggle without the lip anyway that and im TERRIBLE at installing lips :-/ i always put em in crooked.
  21. well here is the paint. i still have to paint the head, the inside of the joints, and the entire back side :-/. turned out a little bit darker than i would have liked :-[ but i am pleased that i didnt make it look totally rediculous. i call it: midnight shad
  22. i too use a hand brush and acrylic craft paints on my photofinishes. it can be very tough to match the paint to the photo some times. takes a lot of mixing to get the colors you need. one thing that really helped me was going to the store and buying a bunch of natural shades of paints...olive greens, tans, greys, etc. another good way to match colors is to lay down a base coat that is very close to the photo and then take a stiff brush and speckle a slightly darker color over the base coat.
  23. spray on acrylic is not tough enough. you need to use devcon 2 ton epoxy.
  24. i really like the jerkbait. as for the bluegill, the photo finish is done pretty well, smooth edges and all, but the bait itself would be better if you tapered the corners a little bit more so its not as "blocky". also, you should try a different color paint to blend with the belly of the photofinish. that green really doesnt match :-/ hope you dont mind my constructive criticism! they are good though. a VERY good start. that jerkbait looks very nice, and so does the rattle trap, im just not fond of the color you did it in. i like silvers, but not so much greens. ;D keep at it bro!
