How much do you think this fish weighed? No scale
the one in your right hand is probably around 3.5 LBS. It looks smaller than that though because the pic is not the greatest in the world...

I have returned to this site.. (Deformed bass pic, some nice bass, a koi, friends first fish)
Well for some very odd reason I have decided to start posting on this forum yet again. Probably because I am now inspired to start fishing regularly again. I am sure this historic event will bring some people joy and will strike fear into the hearts of other members... Anyway I have not been doing much fishing recently. I have been out fishing about 5 times in the last 4 months. I went out yesterday with my friend Mike and fished for the first time in a month but had a great day. So I am now inspired to start going more often. I caught this fish within the first 10 minutes of yesterdays outing... I am guessing around 2-2.5 LBS on a 6 inch purple robo casting into a deep hole surrounded by reeds. 30 minutes later I caught this nice bass that I am guessing was around 3.5 LBS out of the EXACT SAME hole. My friend Mike said this fish could have been a 4 LBer but I dont know for sure. This fish was also caught on a 6 inch purple robo.... Here is a real cool looking orange koi I caught a few months ago with corn. He wasnt that big but he put up a good fight. This is my friend Jessica with her very first fish EVER. I told her I would teach her how to fish so I took her carp fishing one morning. We each ended up with two fish. Her fish were actually decent size while my two carp were in the 2-3 LB dink range. I almost had a heart attack watching her horse her fish in and start cranking the real when the fish was trying to take drag... This is a deformed bass I caught. Have any of you ever seen a LMB like this before? His mouth was tiny. There you go that is all the fishing photos I have taken in the last few months... Hope you guys enjoy

Biggest Koi I Ever Caught 15+ LBS 2/21/09
No. I posted it in the "My Fishing Trip" not the "General Bass Fishing" section because I was doing a fishing report on a fishing trip I had. I dont have a problem with you and dont recall ever doing anything to bother you so I dont get why you seem to dislike me. Realy though if your not interested in my posts you dont have to read them though:) I dont read every thread on here just because I am not on here much, theres nothing wrong with that...

Biggest Koi I Ever Caught 15+ LBS 2/21/09
.... I dont get why my thread got moved or what anyone could have against me here. I dont remember being a jerk to anyone and sorry if I have, I didnt mean to. I just wanted to do a report on this because I was prowd of my catch and wanted to show off. I also thought other people would be interested in seeing this as well.... Whatever, if I am no longer wanted on this site I will leave. Yes I like to show off a lot but I fish for fun too not just to brag. Again sorry if I actually did upset anyone...

Biggest Koi I Ever Caught 15+ LBS 2/21/09
Well I dont know the exact weight of this fish to be honest since I did not have a scale at the time but I know it was over 15 LBS. It also gave me the best fight I had with a fish so far this year! The first run this fish made took the drag all the way out to the middle of the lake. I got him to turn and then he ran straight into some boat docks. He came out and made another run to the middle of the lake. I got him to turn again and got him in close. This guy offerd to net the fish for me and I said he could. I got the fish in close to me and he made another run to the opposite shore of the cove. I then had to work the fish back to me again. By this time he was pretty tired and the guy with the net was able to net the big koi pretty easily . What a fight this fish made on 10 LB test. The fight must have been about 10 minutes! You may be asking now "How can you say its a 15 LB+ without weighing it on a scale". Well I met up with my friend Chase later and caught a common carp which was smaller than the koi. Chase had a didgital scale to weigh this common on and he was just under 14 LBS. This fish did not fight very hard. I didnt think I had a big fish almost the whole fight since he was not makeing any big long runs. I could feel weight at the end of the rod though as this fish swam back and forth. We landed this one in less than 5 mins. Here are the pics of the common that was just under 14 LBS.

2 Koi carp in 1 weekend.
They were not origionally stocked into the lake. The normal common carp were never placed in there either. There was supposably 1 guy who released 8 koi in there origionally. As for the common carp there must have been someone else who put those in there. Its perfectly ok to catch koi or any species out of there as long as you release them.

2 Koi carp in 1 weekend.
Give me 1 month or so. Then I will be bass fishing again. Bass fishing in the winter is very slow and you are very limited with what you can do. So I usually target catfish and carp in the winter time since its easyer to catch big cats and carp in the winter than bass. I cant wait til the bass start spawning again... always one of my favorite times of the year

2 Koi carp in 1 weekend.
Yeah exactly my point. This lake does not have game wardens. As I said it is a community lake that has its own set of rules which I already posted. This lake also hires its own security to enforce the rules. I do not do anything that they say I am not allowed to do. They have never told me I am not allowed to throw out corn to attract carp and they have seen me do it several times. I wouldent do this in a state owned lake and if they tell me not to do it I would stop. The rules of this place dont say anything about tossing out corn and security have never said anything to me about it. Dont worry I wont get in trouble for doing it I know for a fact and I wouldent do it if they said I was not allowed to. I also didnt mean to start a debate on this just wanted to post my catches.

2 Koi carp in 1 weekend.
I have tossed extra corn out to attract carp in this place often, Security have seen me do it many times and never once told me I was not allowed to do this. One gard who actually wants to learn how to fish had me explain the process of carp fishing to him. I explained "chumming" to attract the fish and he said nothing was wrong with doing that. Also that lake is a private cummunity lake with private security. The rules are posted on signs all around the lake saying what you can and cant do. The rules regarding fishing say. 1 You can only fish Saturday, Sunday, Wensday, and Hollidays. 2 All Fish Must be released 3 You must have an ID with you. 4 No Swimming or Wadeing in the lake. Thats it... keep in mind it is a private lake and those are the rules that the security of the lake enforces. Private Security patrol the lake every day and they never in the 10 years I fished there said anything about not "chumming" corn. I also already know you cant do it in State owned lakes but thats not an issue since I mostly do bass fishing in those places anyway

Valentine- a little round but man can she suck !
He didnt kill it actually. Believe it or not he caught that fish and went running home with it to weigh it. I think running with that big slippery fish would be a pain in the ***. After he weighed it he ran back to the lake revived the fish and released it in a small section of the lake that is separated from the main lake.

Nice one. I would rather go on a valentines date with one of my Kois though. Hey heres a tip. When you upload pics to bassresource.com useing photobucket copy and paste the very last link it offers labled "image code" It will directly pose the picture on bassresource.com instead of the link. Check out my post from this weekend. I use photobucket for image shareing too.

2 Koi carp in 1 weekend.
Decided to go out on Friday the 13th to do some carp fishing with corn. Friday the 13th is supposed to be a day for bad luck but it turned out to be the exact opposite for me. Got this one that was around 11 LBS on corn. I did not weigh the fish but my friend caught and released this same fish and when he caught it he weighed the fish at just over 11 LBS. This fish put up a pretty nice fight. The pictures also turned out very well. I also caught a few more small carp on the same day! Yesterday I went out again to try for some carp. I got two dinks in the first 15 minutes fishing where some kids were feeding ducks. Then went an hour without a bite. After about an hour Bladeslinger showed up and we moved to a different spot that often produces. We chummed the area and he caught two dinks of his own includeing the smartest carp that ever caught that he named "Einstein" I then got a very strong run on the one rod I had no action on all day. I set the hook and hooked into the fish of the day. This fish was also the 2nd koi I had caught in 3 days. This is the 2nd time I have caught this exact same fish. Pound for pound this fish put up one of the best fights I have ever had with a carp. He was only around 6-7 LBS but I thought I had a 10+ pounder on the way it was takeing out drag. Still a very nice catch. After this I proceded to miss 3 carp in a row includeing one which I should have had for sure since the fish hooked up for a few seconds. Bladelsinger ccaught another small carp that was around 5 LBS. Bladeslinger then gave me a tip on how to rig my corn. I decided to use his method and hooked into my next bite. The result was not a carp but was infact Bladeslingers prefered species to target. He seems to catch more of these than he does fish. About 20 minutes later Bladeslinger went home. I was carping by myself with 3 rods out and got a nice run. As I was fighting the small but strong fish in one of my other rods started going off. It was a double hook up. I got the first carp landed freed him from my net and then set the hook into the other carp which was by now half way accross the lake. This carp was also small and was much easyer to land. I landed the 2nd fish and removed the hooks from both of them. Then I got a picture with my two fish. This was the first time this has happened to me fishing by myself where I have been able to land BOTH fish.

Strange fishing tactics you have seen people do.
This sounds like "plunking" for trout. Basically a tight line rig with bead, swivel, adn spinner. The spinner is called a "spin-n-glow." Look up Bill Herzog, and you'll see the rig in detail. One of the weirdest things I've seen is walleye anglers dragging chains. Presumably, the tactic kicks up all kinds of critters, which draws the baitfish to the area, which in turn draws the 'eyes. Kind of like chumming, but without chum. The weirdest thing I do is prefish for tournaments without hooks. Crankbaits are the most fun, since you can "play" them all the way to the boat, if you're real careful. Nope it was in a lake with NO trout at all. She just had the spinner bait casted out with a weight and sat the rod in one of those catfish rod holders.

Rofl dude. I forgot to say I used to see a guy a few years ago who fished like that. Funny thing was he would actually catch fish.

Strange fishing tactics you have seen people do.
Just wonderd what are some of the most odd strategies you have seen people do while fishing? These are some of the odd things I have seen done. Most of these things were done by people that were completely clueless. Yes I laughed at a lot of these people but after 10 minutes of watching I would show them the propper way of doing it or give them some tips. I mean I am sure we all did some silly things while learning to fish ourselves. Here are some of the unsuccessful odd things I have seen people do while fishing. A guy with a spinnerbait tied on under a big red and white bobber. A woman fishing with some kind of inline spinner with a weight and sitting it on the bottom like it was a dough ball. She also had a bell on here line. Someone with one of those huge saltwater white rods you buy from wall mart rigged with 2-4 LB test and fishing for bluegills. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are some of the successful things I have seen done. An elderly woman fighting a big 7-8 LB catfish. She would consistantly crank the fish in even when it was takeing drag. She actually managed to land the fish though but only because she had a huge heavy action rod with probably 30 LB test.... Come to think of it maybe she was actually a decent angler and knew she could do that with the gear she had. There was this guy who used to live in a house right on my neighborhood lake. He would set the rod up in his yard then somehow put his line going over the footpath that went to the lake into the water without it being tripped over. He would set his rig up at night time and would just leave it there. He supposably caught some nice catfish. I was fishing at a small pond and saw two kids. Probably 10-12 years old come down to look around the pond. They obviously had no clue how to fish since they did not have rods. They were exploreing the lake and found a tangle of line. A while later they found a hook. They then rooted through the garbage and found some bread. They then proceded to catch a good amount of bluegills. Yeah they obviously had never fished before but they got the right idea pretty quick.

Winter 09 Fishing from last few weeks :)
Thanks. I will be doing a lot more bass fishing though in a month or so. The bass will start spawning soon. I love bed fishing for bass to see them interact with the bait. I rarely target bass in the winter though. Even in the spring and summer its often fun to go after another species.

Well all of those cats were caught on balls of dough and bread. They were all also caught about 10-15 feet out. Yeah you know how I fish with dough balls since we fish together a lot. I like throwing the bread more than the corn most of the time because its very rare to catch a catfish on the sweetcorn. I did catch one this yeah on corn though. There are some days though that the carp just wont hit bread. I seem to catch more carp in numbers on the corn. I saw got your msgs today. Seems like you been haveing a great couple of weeks 20+ carp. I guess we decided to fish on different days though.

Winter 09 Fishing from last few weeks :)
Oh if my last post was unclead I dont mean he made a run like a carp once he was hooked. I mean when he picked up the bait he took line out the open bail of the spinning real like a carp or cat would.

Those are actually two different bluegills. Dont know which one was bigger. I do know that one of them took off and ran like a carp though.

just wanted to share
Nice fish. Always wanted to catch one of those. That one that you have though is a dink though. They grow to be one of the biggest freshwater species(Over 200 LBS). Very nice and rare catch even though hes small. How did he fight? Was it tough to bring in? Nice catch.

Winter 09 Fishing from last few weeks :)
Well bass fishing is realy tough in the winter. Almos impossible especially since most of the good bass lakes are closed at this time. However there is not ice on the lakes or anything in California so you can still fish for other species that are just as fun to catch... I have just been going down to my local lake and been tossing out dough balls, bread, corn and seeing what I can catch for the most part... Some nice catfish from the last few weeks. I seem to have been getting 1-2 decent size cats every outing. Yeah I know that last catfish is bleeding. I did not gut hook him and he realy was not bleeding that much. I probably hit a vein in his mouth with the hook he swam off fine. Big bluegill I caught by accident while carp and cat fishing. He needs 4 more pounds to be considered a HAWG Another nice bluegill. Please keep in mind that is a medium size Quantum Incite spinning real and a medium action rod. Not an ultralight setup. I have also been averageing about 2-3 carp every outing as well. No big carp or kois at all though. They were all around the same size as this one but still fun. I already posted this pic last time I did a report but I am posting again incase anyone missed it. Biggest catfish I have caught in almost a year. Probably around 8 pounds.

First Fish of 2009!(Multiple species)
San Diego. all those fish caught out of a small lake in my neighborhood.... I need to renew my licence to start fishing state lakes like upper otay, sweetwater again.
