What the hell guys? Avid quit bassresource.com? He was by far the most funny guy on our forum. Everything he said made me laugh. Why would he just quit? Is he ok? Did something happen to him? Anyone know?
  3. Insane catch man. Only catching one fish in an entire trip is well worth it if it is that big. I caught 6 bass today that were all 1-2.5 LB spawning males. I would trade all 6 of those bass for one bass like this one even if it was an 5 hour+ outing. Great catch.
  4. Crazy balls you guys must have even trying to net a fish like that so quickly with such light line. You would think as soon as that big bass saw the net it would go nuts. Especially that early in the fight when the fish still has a lot of energy left...
  5. Man that is creative. Seriously Hawg Caller you should fish tourneys. I bet you would win so many if you did. You know so much.
  6. That's how a 3 turns into "about 6". I always hold my fish out just because it makes for a GREAT photo. However I am always honest with the REAL weight of the fish.. Example... This bass was only 3LBS 10 OZ. When I showed this fish to a few of my fishing buddies on the digital camera they guessed it was a 5 LBER.
  7. I switch up my baits a lot. If I am ouf for a long outing il bring with me 2-3 rods rigged with different baits and throw one bait then another at same spot. Then move to another spot and try same thing. Most of the time I will just take one rod with a bait tied on and try it and if I do not get hit on that bait in 30 minutes il try another bait. maybe il go back to the origional bait later if conditions change to favor that type of bait. Also if I am doing something like fishing a bed and the bass are being realy stubborn I might try like 3 different colors/styles of soft plastics until one triggers the bedding bass. I may change the style of plastic ever 5 minutes. Bottom line is dont keep chucking a bait for hours at a time if it is not produceing. If you have been tryin a bait a long time(30 mins+)...and nothing has hit that bait. Then tie a different type of bait on
  8. Just chill guys. Yeah they fed a gator a bass. I can see a lot of bas fishermen would be angry about that. I also see how feeding gators can get them to come near humans. However he fed the gator twice in 30 years of fishing. Who cares realy?
  9. Oh yeah.... i forgot im fishing for Largemouth Bass. Also I find it odd avid is not posting in this thread. I would expect he would have some very funny things to say about our avid style pictures......
  10. Guys most of you do not seem to get that the photo must be taken avid style. Post the worst self taken photo you have.... anyway count me in guys.... HERES HOW AN AVID PIC IS DONE!!!!
  11. Hey nice fish... how big was it?
  12. Thats cool man. I used to have two of those red tip sharks a long time ago.
  13. I didnt mean to sound offensive with my "LOL @ feeding the gator" comment. I actually found your brother feeding the gator funny. Theres nothing wrong with feeding a gator a bass ever year or so lol...
  14. I was actually fishing for big 5LB+ carp. I was using corn for bait. My intent was to catch a nice carp. Those things put up a great fight on spinning gear. I guess I caught the goldfish on accident. Carp grow to very large sizes often. The koi in my avatar was 12 LBS 11oz and I have caught them bigger than that.
  15. One of best threads I have seen in a while. Great fish man
  16. LOL @ feeding the gator.
  17. Hey guys just to let you know I honestly do not know weather this goes in "fishing tackle" or here. Anyway today I only got out for about an hour however I just took with me one lure that I have not fished at all. The lure I took with me was the "Chatterbait Mini". I have kind of stayed away from trying this bait for a long time because I remember starting a thread once on what is the most overrated bait of all time and the chatterbait go a lot of votes. However I was talking to a local fishing buddy of mine who said he caught three bass in one outing with the chatterbait mini. I decided to buy a white one and give it a shot. I fished it with many different retrieves such as a fast retrieve with pauses, a slow retrieve with long pauses, a slow retrieve with jerks. I did not get any hits at all on it for the first 45 minutes. Then I came across a couple bass that were on a bed and decided I would try bed fishing with my chatter bait. I fished the chatterbait very slowly on the nest moving it then pausing it....The first two casts the bass was very interested in the bait. The third cast he picked it up and I nailed him... Funny thing is I tried for this same bass for a half hour other day with various plastics and could not get him to bite. Ok now I was able to catch my first bass on the chatterbait. Also the chatterbait is a bait that will now forever be in my arsenal for bed fishing. It seems bedding bass seem to love this bait. Anyway my question is how do you fish the chatterbait for normal non-bedding bass and what are the best conditions to throw this bait? Any advice guys?
  18. Those are some nice looking fish. Believe it or not there are some bass FATTER than that one though. T-Rig once caught one that was 17 inches and was 4LBS exactly or something like that. Its kind of hard to believe but I have seen it. Hopefully he can post the pic here when he sees this thread...
  19. I believe that's the most mature post I've ever read on here. Way to go 5lb! A lot of guys (even old guys) would have argued back about where this thread should have went, or what kind of fish it was, but your responce was very mature. You're wise beyond your years. Well you see i didnt want to get involved in the arguement about where it went. Didnt want to make it worse. Also it seem it must be a goldfish. When I look at all the pictures of koi carp I have caught none of them have the long fins that this fish has. Fish Chris did a good job explaining the long fins to me and everyone else...
  20. Cool looks like i caught my first goldfish!
  21. Thats right. California State record for smallest carp ever caught on rod and reel.....
  22. Yo this the "Lower Otay" in San Diego? I fish that lake too. I prefer upper Otay though. Also my friend Paul caught a 76 LB cat out of lower Otay once. He was fishing from a float tube for bass at the time too. I think it was the lake record catfish at the time...
  23. Nice Hawg man. That is also a very pretty looking bass with cool patterns.
  24. Finally got to go fishing yesterday for the first time since I got that 17 LB carp. I have been buisy with school and have not had any time to fish or come on bassresource.com and post. I also have not been responding to personal messages or aim messages from people on here just because I have been so buisy. Anyway I have gotten most of the important work out of the way and have time to fish and post again. Anyway got out yesterday for the first time in about two weeks. I was only out for about an hour and a half and caught four largemouth bass. First fish of the day came pretty quickly. He was a little under two lbs and came on a 4 inch finess worm. This was the biggest fish of the day. He was 3 LBS exactly. Strange thing about this fish was that he was on a bed. I think he was on his bed yet was not quite settled on it yet. It seems very early for the bass to spawn. This was not the fish I was trying to catch when fishing the bed. There was another bass that was probably 6LBS+ (probably the female) that was there as well. I was trying to catch that one but this one picked up my finess worm instead and I was quite happy to catch him. Here is a funny picture. First bass of the year on a jerk-bait. He just inhaled this bait and ended up being gill hooked. He was bleeding a lot but I was able to get the jerk bait out and he swam away fine. He was pretty small... around a pound and a half.
