  1. WOW I was way off on that first fish. Sorry it just looked like you were holding him out. I guess i didnt take into account the distance from the camera...
  2. I think those fish are at least 30% larger than that. The fish in my avatar went over 6lbs and it doesn't look that much bigger than his. Unless of course Brokejaw is only 5'1" ;D Yeah there is a good chance the fish are bigger thanwhat I guessed. It just looks to me like all those fish are held out to the camera. I also dont like to look like an idiot by guessing fish are way bigger than they actually are. You are right about the fish in your avatar though. No disrespect man but i woul have guessed he was in the 4-5 LB range...
  3. NEVER MIX SOFT PLASTIC LURES!!! If you mix plastics you will run into so many problems with the colors of baits bleeding into other baits. I tried mixing plastics as a kid and ruined half my soft plastics. I learned my lesson then. Keep different colors of plastics in different bags at all times.
  4. I cannot comment on storm baits. Have only thrown a storm swimbait once in my life. I caught a 2 LB largemouth on it and thats it. I own a couple of these swimbaits and only thrown them that one time. The only other storm lure I own is the Kickin Minnow which was reccomended by someone on this forum. I have not thrown this bait yet since I doubt it will work in the dead of winter but I plan to throw it in the spring, summer, and early fall. I have tested the kickin minnow in my pool and it seems like a good bait. Very nice action and it does not sink too fast. I think I will catch some bass on this lure...
  5. Hey BrokeJew im going to try to guess the weight of your fish. First fish = 2 Lbs 8 Oz. He looks bigger at first but your holding him out. 2nd Fish = 3 LBS 3 Oz. He looks pretty fat. 3rd Fish = 2 LBS 5 Oz. Cant realy tell from the angle. I bet I am way off...
  6. Hey man for winter time that is a very good day. Those are some nice size fish. Yeah they are not "hawgs" but fish that size are always fun to catch and put up a nice fight. Also sometimes you have to go with "Avid" pics if your fishing by yourself. Nothing wrong with that...
  7. Also... has anyone ever caught a bass smaller than this?
  8. Well not exacly a "HAWG" lol. This bass is however the smallest bass I have caught in my life. The water in the lake I was fishing was pretty murky but i could still see a lot of tiny inch long fish fry swimming close to the shore in a small cove of the lake. I decided to tie on the smallest lure I had that was about the same size of the fish fry. I think these fry were bluegills since I noticed that for some reason in this lake the bluegill spawned again at the end of summer. Anyone ever seen this before? I think these tiny fish were young bluegills. I was hopeing there would be bass in the area feeding on these small fry. There were bass all right. I caught three in about 10 minutes. However the biggest one was only about 11 inches long. This was the smallest one. I ended up abandoning fishing this area with the tiny rapalla and tied on a rattletrap and started walking around the lake throwing it. I was able to catch a couple decent fish with the rattletrap.
  9. Avids skills at makeing videos are up there with his photography skills. Move over Low_Budget_Hookers!!!!
  10. Those are some nice bass. Good numbers as well as size
  11. How big exactly is that "dink"? about 2 lbs?
  12. Those are some very nice looking fish
  13. Im guessing steve P was the one to take the pics...
  14. I once had a carp eat a plastic worm
  15. Is that a shimano Sahara spinning reel? I have two of those myself
  16. Another question Hawg_Bass_Assassin... What is your pb largemouth anyway?
  17. I have not been able to make many posts recently because I cannot get onto this site from my home computer because I do not have latest version of internet explorer. Anyway il get that upgrade next week so I will be posting often again soon. Anyway what do you guys think are the most important factors for choseing a bait for largemouth bass. I think one of most important thing to consider is what types of bait fish there are in that particular lake and what size they are. You usually would want a bait that looks closest to the baitfish that are in that lake. There are exceptions to this though since a largemouth bass will almost always hit a worm type bait when worms are not part of the bass's regular diet. Another thing I do not realy understand is that I catch bass with baits such as black and silver rapala original floaters and white flukes in lakes that do not have bait fish in black or white colors in them. However I have also noticed I RARELY catch big bass of over 4+ LBS on these baits in the lakes that do not have bait fish that color in them. So i guess bigger bass are usually smart enough not to hit something that does not look like a regular food source in that lake. Also I other important factors include things such as how clear and warm the water is. In cold water in the winter I have always heard that you should always downsize your bait and fish slower. However I have noticed many people on this forum disagree with the downsizing your bait in the winter time part. They fish larger baits in the cold of winter and have decent luck with them. I also know in murky water you might want a bait that makes lots of vibration and or noise. I know that in spawning season it is completely different and the key to catching bass is to annoy them on their beds. In summer time I do not understand what time a topwater bait such as a popper will outfish another bait though. I usually tie on a topwater bait in the evening before it gets dark and have good luck with them but I do not know when a topwater will actually outfish other baits. I just tie my topwater baits on for fun. Anyone know some good information I might not know about choosing a bait?
  18. OMG i forgot what was probably one of the strangest ones of them all. I caught a big carp that was over 10 pounds on a 4 inch finess worm. LOL. Not as funny as haveing one attack a jerk bait though
  19. You should realy put a rod next to that bass on the ground. I believe it is a 9 LB bass but theres no way to tell from that photo.
  20. Fishing a dink factory is not bad at all. If you catch lots of them its fun. Also if your fishing with kids or people who are not that experianced in bass fishing a lake with a huge amount of small fish will guarentee they will catch some fish.
  21. Is the bass that Cole has a spotted bass. Im still trying to figure out the differene but that bass looks like a spot to me
  22. I used to use these rods all the time growing up. They are a good rod for $30 and are very durable. I once caught a 18LB carp, and a 6 LB bass with ugly stick rods. For someone who doesent have much money or is just getting into fishing they are good rods. However if you are serious about fishing I would not buy one. They are not sensitive. I still have one of my ugly sticks and I like it for carp and catfish fishing. The main problem with this rod is that it has the sensitivity of a broom stick so it is a horrible choice for fishing plastics. They do work ok for hard baits such as cranks and jerk baits. If you do not want to spend a lot on a rod I would reccomend the Berkly lightnin rod. It is also a rod that is around $35 and it is a lot more sensitive than the ugly stick rod. I realy like the lightnin rod since it is cheap and is a decent all round rod. Also you dont have to worry about the insides of the eyes comeing off which happened to a couple of my ugly stick rods I had as a kid.
