  1. I don't get it, it seems like a good deal to me. :
  2. Not that it will help with the trailer, but are you using a transom strap and saver. The trailer would still bounce all around, but that should take some pressure of the motor and boat.
  3. We have togs, you just have to get offshore to a deep ledge to catch them. AHH saltwater fishing, only two more months til bluefin are in, hopefully I can fill my wallet this year.
  4. I would have to agree with LM here, sit down and really think about it. I know I had to. You already have something to get you from point a to b, may not be a ranger, but thats not what catches fish. Finish school get you a job and get exactly what you want. This way you are keeping in the good graces of your parents, and wether you believe it or not doing yourself a favor in the long run. Your parents aren't telling you what they are to be mean to you, I imagine they have been there and done that and have already learned from it. Put that extra cash into savings for whatever you want in the future. I have a lot of young Marines in the college age that go out and make impulse purchases and end up paying for it later. ( No pun intended) You are your own person, but I would seriously think this one out.
  5. Sand Fleas or no see ums call them what you will, but after spending 3 months at Parris Island, I hate those things.
  6. My MgFA 4000 didn't come with a spare spool either.
  7. Is there anyway to post a windows media file on here I have a hilarious clip.
  8. When I was about 16 yo there was a nice pond right through the woods from my parents house. While I didn't know anything other than bobbers and night crawlers, I offered to do some work for the man, I also told him that I was just wanting to fish for fun that I would release anything that I caught. The man gave me permission and we actually became friends. With my parents permission he also took me deer hunting and taught me a lot about life and how to act. Try to be more personable.
  9. roflmao, that was a good one
  10. Nice fish and tell your Uncle that I said "Semper Fi"
  11. I guess they would be considered saltwater rods, but I have a shimano teremar in ml and h action, and I absolutely love them. There are many rods out there to choose from though
  12. By blackfish, do you mean black drum, if so I have caught quite a few this time of year off of fresh shrimp or sand fleas ( we call them sand fiddlers)
  13. Just for the record, I wasn't saying shimano is better, I own shimano, diawa, and abu reels. I was just stating a fact that I have had absolutely no problems with my stradic reel
  14. Which model stradic are you talking about, I have the Mgfa and have no complaints whatsoever. Nice smooth reel I clean it once a year, no more no less. I have had no problems and would recommend this reel to anyone.
  15. I totally agree, and IMHO it was not Torre's fault. The yanks had too many superstars on that squad, and not enough team players.
  16. Gents, Thanks for all of the replies, I will take the advice to heart. I went today just to look around. The water is about twice as clear today as it was yesterday. Man there are some big bass in that pond. I know fish look twice as big in the water as they really are, so I will say the fish would probably go 5-6pds. That may not be big to some, but to me that is huge. My pb is around 2.5-3. Some things I did notice today. The fish seem to be feeding on the rocks and under the dead grass around the edges. ( they are slamming baitfish on the grass, and cornering them in the rocks) I will get some shallow cranks. The only one I have now is a crawfish type crank that is shallow. I try to conceal myself as best I can, but the only places you can cast around the pond are in an open area. Tommorow I will try to stand 20-25 ft back and chunk some stuff out. I really appreciate you all taking the time to respond.
  17. Here in NC we got a 800 number when you shoot one and tag it. It's been a while since I have shot one but I believe the number is 1800 I GOT ONE
  18. Man, I spent 2 of the 500 on Shimano Teremar's. Great trout/red rods.
  19. Frogtog, Now you would be the man if you could get him to load it in the bed of the truck for you. Trout, Nice post.
  20. I doubt you are dead, just don't get mad when she spends $400 on herself. Burley, That must have taken some serious restraint, I went to the BPS in Myrtle Beach a month or so ago and walked out about $500 lighter. I think it went over easier with my wife because I got the kids some shirts n stuff. Good thing the closest one is over 2 hours away.
  21. I basically fish one pond locally, it is on base and generally shaped like a boot. You can see fish all over cruising, but the only place on the pond that I have recently been able to catch fish, I guess I could explain it as the bottom of the boot. I have been using ikas, jigs, and spinners. I cast parallel to the bank and about 5-10 feet out. I always get bites in the same area. There are some rock piles that are along the edge of this one part that go out about 10ft off the bank and this is the only area I can catch them at. I see bass crashing baitfish around the banks all around the pond, I can see them cruising the rest of the pond. I cast they either look or follow, but no strikes. The only thing I think I could be doing wrong is a bad presentation. I have thrown numerous baits with various presentations ( from really slow to fast, steady retrieve, bouncing bottom and jerking.) I would try live bait, but it is illegal on these ponds. Any idea on why in these other areas the fish are eluding me. Today I caught 5 bass in about 3 hours, I am very happy with that and the fishing is picking up. I just take the other areas as a challenge or like a puzzle that I can't solve and its getting frustrating.
  22. I have (2) NC fresh and salt, and SC. I also fish Kerr lake in VA , but they have an agreement with NC for the liscense up to a certain area.
  23. Since I am gaining confidence in bass fishing now, I feel better if I can catch a few fish versus hawgs at the moment. My best day so far has been about 8 bass, but the bite seems to be picking up a bit now.
  24. Sweet ride man, are you going to put a power pole in it.
  25. I am still fairly new to bass fishing, well seriously anyway. I don't have confidence in a lot of baits. I have found that I like a weightless t-rig in water out 10ft deep. Well I have caught fish in this situation anyway. I am still trying to expand my arsenal, but this seems to be a good fallback.
