I got a 6.6 ft shimano teramar spinning rod last year for Christmas. I have treated it well, cleaning it and storing inside after every use. I was sorting my tackle today, and rearranging my rod n reels in my rack. I noticed that the clear coat is starting to bubble and peel off the rod. This should not happen in just over a year. Can a rod builder easily fix this, I know they have warranties, but not sure if this is covered. Has anyone had similar problems and if so how did you handle it. Thanks

Yes you can catch fish in the winter, I have recently been fishing with a amueter that lives in the area. If you are not comfortable using jigs and other slow presentations ( I am not I don't have the patience) throw cranks and jerk baits, but fish them as slow as possible. This is the advice I was given from a guy who knows the area well. I will be fishing the river this winter and if you ever want to go just pm me and give me your number I will give you a call.

Yeah we have had an unusually warm Dec. I hope it don't come back to bite us in the rear. It has been warm in the winters here for th past few years, and I have a feeling we will get some of the bad stuff this time. I will enjoy it while I can though.

Yes 9/11 was too long ago. I say this because most of America has forgotten ( out of sight, out of mind). I have spent a total of 21 months in Iraq. The general public says that it has nothing to do with 9/11. I say crap, there has been a major turn around in the life that Iraqi's live. Terrorism runs rampant in that region, so yes we should be there. As much as it pains me to say it as I pray to god that no one (civilian) has to experience. I think that if the attacks would have hit the west coast (hollywood) that the outlook on this would be different. Just a humble opinion from a dumb ole jar head.

Did any of you get outside tonight to see the meteors. I took my lab out for the last head call for the night and saw about 15-20. It was awesome, I was lucky to be able to run inside and get the wife and kids and enjoy it as a family. It was amazing to see them bust into the atmosphere as a bright blue. I really enjoyed it.

When I first joined the Marine Corps I would read John Grisham novels on deployments. Here lately I have been on a Marine Corps history kick. I recently read "Iwo Jima" by Bill D. Ross. Man what a read, it makes it seem like the stuff I and others have done in Iraq is nothing compared to those who went before. I have also read ' No bending Knee, the battle of Guadal Canal" You will never understand where you are if you don't know where you came from.

Frog, They are sort of like soft shells for taco's. Tipp, I commend you for doing this and for the right reasons. Try to eat 6 small meals a day. It will help get your metabolism up. It sucks to start with, but after a week or two you will notice a change in your energy. Remember its not what you eat, but how much. Treat yourself once or twice a month. Drink as much water as you can stand. If you haven't done so I would suggest getting a physical before you try too much strenious activity ( just to make sure everything is in good working order) Find a activity that you enjoy, it will make it easier to stay on the goal. Don't weigh your self every night, or week. Maybe once or twice a month, if you pay attention to it everyday you won't see as much of a gain. When you don't feel like going anymore, just remember why you are doing it. Most of all good luck.

Mike, Sorry to hear that man, I feel for all of you guys out that way. I can't imagine no power in those temps. I have been without power for 7 days but it was after Hurrican Fran and it was still blazing hot. Glad to hear that you are ok. I would have liked to see the pics, but couldn't get the link to work. I wouldn't advise going by holly shelter, shaw highway. I go deer hunting there and the creek is so low you couldn't get a boat in it. But the trent is good to go.

Head towards the Marina from the USO ramp and hang a left out by the little island. Go up about 300 yds and start fishing. There are also some ponds back towards Richlands, and some creeks and ponds up near pollocksville. Good luck

I was at work and then went fishing during my lunch break, god its december and about 75 out today. The past three days were in the 80's. I am a little bit jealous for my kids though, they haven't seen any snow yet.

I generally drink Miller Lite, back when I was stationed on Okinawa I had a taste for Habu Saki. Not sure why now, the thought of looking at that snake makes me want to puke. I don't touch liqour anymore I had one too many fights. Oh yeah I bet the ones putting fruit in beer also put jolly ranchers in their zima's ;D

Mill Creek has fish in it, but I haven't heard a lot about bass. Maybe you should look for some different spots. If your parents are military, then you should get a base fishing license, the ponds are decent. I fished a little hole on base for a long time and caught a few here and there, and wondered why I was having so many problems. Come to find out the pond is way over pressured. There are a few bass in there, but I seemed to have better luck finding the ones way back in the woods. Since I have done this I am catching fish and gaining confidence.

The ponds on Lejeune and the Air Station. Sometimes take my boat out in new river, and I want to make a trip to sutton lake sometime soon.

The way Petrino left was not a class act, I am not going to argue that. I will say that I do not think he knew what he was getting himself into. In the college ranks he had a dictatorship style of leadership/coaching. I really don't think he realized how much pull a NFL player had on the team and staff and when he tried the same style the players didn't respond. Plain and simple he is a college coach. He wanted to tell the players in the NFL how and when to do it and they didn't. I also think he crapped his pants with the whole Vick issue. I do wish him the best of luck in Arkansas. I think Singeltary wil be the new coach in Hotlanta next year.

NCThompson, I have been fishing as hard as I can the past 3 days. I have caught about 5 this week on a shad rap rs in shad color. I have caught 2 on a spook jr. one in the morning and my new pb a 5lb this evening. I have also caught 2 today on a 10 or 12 in red shad culprit. With the past 3 days being in the upper 70's lower 80's the fish have started moving back into the shallows. Enjoy it while you can, I am loving it and laughing when people are saying they are fed up because this isn't winter weather. Other than the 5lb they have all been dinks, but to me a fish is a fish and I am learning. Hope this helps some, considering we are fishing the same town.

I usually tip the pizza boy well, the mail man gets a gift card. To be honest with you I never even thought of tipping the UPS/Fedex guys. I hve one guy delivering lots of stuff this year, and he usually stops to shoot the S$%t for a while. Guess I will give him 20 spot next time to make up for it all.

My platoon commander bought the kit and all the accesories needed to install for his jeeps. I think he paid 200 for all. It looked wierd in a jeep at first, but for the amount he offroads I can see it.
