  1. Yeah man. This weather is out of control. We had a BFL at Grand this weekend and didn't leave town early enough, now the roads are too slick to go. > > >
  2. I can't say I'm quite as bad as you but I refuse to hunt in the warmer months and I won't walk into the deep backwoods to fish. I avoid em at all costs. Doesn't matter if they're poisonous or aggressive or not, they creep me the heck out.
  3. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/18/proposed-lead-ban-causes-stir/ I'm really surprised this hasn't been posted here yet. This is only the start, eventually it'll be state parks, etc. and lead tackle will be extinct. Keep in mind this isn't just lead weights but jigs, spinnerbaits, and any fishing tackle produced with lead. I love tungsten weights when I'm t-rigging but I can't afford to fill all my tackle boxes up with tungsten products. On a side note why don't we see spinnerbaits or jigs made of brass?
  4. I had a customer come in a few weeks ago and asked "Do you guys have any sexy shad?" Jokes ensued.
  5. No one mentioned the Berkley Bionix rods at $20 8-)
  6. Man, and I always figured the controversial bait of the day would be the laser lure, guess I was wrong. I think they probably work fine, the coffee scent helps overcome any human scents or plastic scents. I've used em and haven't caught much, but that goes for most tubes for me. ;D
  7. I know Dick's is carrying the small Okeechobee fats bag. Bought my bigger one (not the 1200) at wal-mart last year and it hasn't failed me yet. The baggies in the lid are kind of junk but the bag itself seems to be holding up well.
  8. I'm in the market to buy a boat pretty quick. Looking around the $6k-$8k range. Wanting something 18'+ with at least a 150hp motor. While I've found some decent deals on some 94+ boats that are EFI, I have found some GREAT deals on some slightly older boats ('90-'93) with carbureted motors. Should I spend the extra and get something that's EFI? Is it really that much more of a pain to own a boat thats carbureted? I've never owned a boat of this caliber before but am pretty mechanically inclined. Discuss. 8-)
  9. My boater this past weekend in a BFL had the SI and wowwwww. It was pretty sweet 8-) Helped us find some cuts and stuff that you otherwise would have never known about. If you can afford I say go for it! Definitely get one of the bigger screens though, he only had the 5" and it did fine until you tried to split screen it, not nearly enough screen there to see everything.
  10. Thank god I live in Kansas. We don't have to title boats or motors. Just have to have a bill of sale (not even notarized!) to get it registered. 8-)
  11. yup I'm here from Wichita state university 8-)
  12. Yeah, I see where you're coming from here. It's kind of unfair to the men if they don't have the option of qualifying via the WBT.
  13. Wichita State is starting a club and if we can, we plan on making it. 14 hours to Detroit? No sweat! 8-)
  14. Haven't been there since March but here's a good place to look for a video report: http://blackangeljigs.com/ (towards the bottom). I'd suspect it'll be muddy since we've had so much rain in Southern KS/Northern OK lately. Good luck!
  15. yea I've had the eye/blade come detached. Crummy quality. I'd use the sk pure poisons
  16. No good tips but good luck at the 6-man, that sounded like a fun one! 8-)
  17. I've never got even a bite on a jig before until yesterday. The patterns been tough in the pond behind my house and I got a wild hair and decided to throw a 3/8 oz. watermelon jig with a baby paca craw trailer and woooooo-eeeeee. Caught me a 21 incher 8-) Now I'm hooked on the jig fishin. ;D
  18. Different retrieves and different depths are key with spinnerbaits. Also learn the best uses for the different blade combinations. I have luck at all depths
  19. The Bi-you buzz? There's a review on tackletour about it. Haven't got to try one myself yet though.
  20. +1. Sweet little hideaway. 8-)
  21. The creek channel that runs out of the northwest still has alot of timber in it but I haven't even gotten a bite out of it. Like Alex said, most of the fish seem to hangout near that fishing area west of the bridge. Tough lake to fish now that it's so hot out, we've blanked twice this Summer out there. :-X
  22. Bringing this thread from the dead because I went to see Kevin Fowler live in concert last night (which I wouldve never done if y'all hadn't recommended him) and man. Best 12 bucks I ever spent!!! 8-) If you get the chance to see him live, DO IT!
  23. $3.54-$3.61 Heard on the radio the other day we have the cheapest gas anywhere here in Wichita right now.
  24. How do I fish spinner baits? Any darn way possible. Burn em, slow roll em, try a stop 'n' go, keep em just under the surface, or let em sink n bang em against structure. I personally have the most luck when I do a stop 'n' go or let em smack against structure. Makes em look like a disoriented baitfish and drives the fish crazy.
