Project Vintage Bass Tracker
Alex ordered the wrong starter motor ;D D'oh!! We'll get that exchanged and take care of the tilt tube and steering cable and should be ready to rumble soon.

Project Vintage Bass Tracker
Get it man! If the price is right and the hull is nice you don't have much to lose. I went into this project knowing that even if the motor was totally toasted, and all the decking was demolished, and all the wiring was toast: I was still getting a good hull in good working condition that we could fix ourselves (the way we see fit!). It's the best way to do it on a budget boat in my opinion... Long mike! I'm jealous Alex got to go fish with ya. I'll try and make a trip down there this Summer so I can outfish you! ;D I'm going to buy a tilt tube and steering cable as soon as I can get this cash into my bank account. That should put us pretty close to havin this puppy on the water!! 8-)

Project Vintage Bass Tracker
We are hoping for the same. I imagine at best we will have to clean em, at worst: get them rebuilt. I've sourced a tilt tube. The steering cable is seized in there pretty well and also we've torn up the tube trying to get the cable out so we need to replace that and the cable. Soon we also need to check out the throttle control, it refuses to go in reverse. It's coming together though 8-)

Baitcaster, Right or left?
I've always used RH reels until I started pitching, now I have a LH reel for pitching and still use RH for most other stuff. I don't have many problems going back and forth. Just try both and see what's comfortable for you! 8-)

new baitcasters - yay for me

Gander Mountain?
No kiddin? I was just in the Wichita Gander mtn. today buying reels. I like gander because of their customer service but SW pretty much always has em beat price wise. It just depends what part of town I'm on and what I'm buying

new baitcasters - yay for me
Went out and bought a couple new rods and reels today. Got an Accurist CX (left handed! Finally!) on a Falcon Lowrider 6'7". Gonna use that one for flippin plastics. Then I bought a Abu Silver max RH and put it on a berkley 7' tactix for flippin around jigs. 8-) I'm a happy camper so far. Anything I should look out for with any of these?

baitcasters
I feel like 200% better of a fisherman with a baitcaster than any spinning setup I've ever used. That goes for just about any rig I throw. Everyone is different though, so try one and gauge it for yourself! 8-)

your fishing superstitions
I don't know if it's bad luck but depending on the water you're fishing it's a good thing to have...

Asking Permission in upscale areas
We live in a nicer neighborhood (not quite upscale like you're describing but same idea) and we have a pond out behind our house. Quite a few folks pull up and fish without permission, not a *huge* deal to us as long as we only see them C&R. Asking permission would get em a definite yes as far as I'm concerned, as long as they clean up after themselves. Especially if they pick up any trash they happen to come across. Reminds me of a funny story. My mom's friend was stocking some fish in there that she was catching from other impoundments last year. She put in a couple big ol' pregnant catfish. A few weeks later my mom saw this fella pull one of the pregnant mamas out and put it on a stringer. She went down there and said a few choice words. He'll think twice before bringin the stringer again ;D I'd say just go up and ask em, worst they can do is say no... 8-)

Another what would you do thread.........
Common predicament, I'd think. Especially for co-anglers. These guys are suggesting the right thing... unless he tells you to have at it, you should find another spot. 8-)

makeshift anchor
+1. Alot of guys have 'em sitting around collecting dust and would be glad to get a few bucks out of em.

SOFT LANDING
95% of statistics are made up on the spot. ;D If the spot isn't within flippin/pitchin range, I figure stealth aint necessary. Maybe I'm missing fish though :-?

He's got his priorities straight
Awesome 8-) I was like that when I was little. Fair warning though: I had a habit of throwing fishing poles over the side of the boat. ;D
