  1. I'm an alumni, but I do not go there anymore. Graduated in 1993 (yes, I'm old). You do have some good water around there. There's the river out in College woods, not to mention all the lakes in the Northwood/Barrington area.
  2. Shane, I think all the water in the southern part of the state are hard water free by now. Have fun!!
  3. NICE SPRING BASS nashua fisherman!!! That's a HAWG!!
  4. KIng James, you have Wilson Pond in Swanzey pretty close to you. You also have Spofford Lake in Chesterfield just outside of town. Both are supposed to have Northern Pike and decent bass. Good luck at school and with the fishing! I'm also going to try and get out this weekend. Good luck everyone.
  5. hey wagn, I've also been to Nubanusit. It's attached to Spoonwood. The only problem with Nubanusit is how crowded it gets. It's a really busy lake, maybe the most busy in this part of the state. Highland Lake is in Stoddard, and it's a great lake. You also have granite Lake right near there. You have a lot of fishable water out that way.
  6. If the Mojo makes it back, I'm in. It could use some NH love.
  7. hey guys. It looks like the ice is starting to melt fast now! Wagn, as far as Peterborough goes, theres the McDowell Lake and Cummings Pond. I'm not sure if you can take your bass rig on Cummings, but I think its' fine on McDowell. here's a link: http://www.nae.usace.army.mil/recreati/eml/emlhome.htm But, you're also close to Powder Mill Pond, Dublin Lake, Childs Bog and a ton of other water. I have not fished most of it, but I've heard some good reports.
  8. Thank you so much for that extremely helpful info sneaker! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks again!
  9. Has anyone bought and used one of these new motors from Minn kota? They have a new "digial maximizer" in some models that supposedly increases the life of the battery by 5x. I'm looking for a motor to throw on my canoe. I used a 55lb Endura last year, which draws too much battery power for what I need it for. I'm just curious if this new feature really works, or if I should save the $ and just get the Endura. thanks!
  10. I swear by senkos. I'm not saying that I won't use a BPS sticko (in fact, I use them all the time), but sometimes it seems like senkos are just the thing the fish are looking for. But, sometimes it seems like the fish want a little faster fall rate, and the sticko is a little heavier and has the pointed end (which I usually rip off) My friend hates how expensive senkos are, so he will not buy them . We've fished senkos vs. stickos and yum dingers a couple times, and we are usually close to even. Usually I'll beat him, but he has beaten me with the dinger a couple times. Anyway, at Dicks I pay 6.99, bu at the little discount place/tackle shop, I still pay $5.99.
  11. nope. it's real quiet (most of the time) where I fish and I like to hear what's going on. Tried it once and found it too weird.
  12. good points memo. I cannot wait until this hard water is gone! Looks like the 50's this weekend, so that's a start.
  13. LOL! If it helps, I came back the day we got 10 inches of snow. Back to reality in a hurry. I cannot wait either. It still looks like I'll have a nice boat this year, so it does not always have to be yours. Here's a couple pics my wife took: view from the villa: fishing from the porch outside the villa The first day I caught a lot of fish 4 pounds and over. The second day it seemed like even though the wind was blowing better and more cloud cover, the previous nights temp. dip into the 50's cooled the bite off until around 4:30pm. Then, the Fat Ika was on fire with 5-6 fish around 2-3 pounds caught in about 30 minutes.
  14. Thanks guys! Thank god my wife is pretty cool. Instead of yelling at me to get the fish out of the room, she actually said: "That's GREAT honey" and went back to sleep. I knew I married her for a good reason.
  15. I just got back from a really short trip to FL from NH, and I managed to catch a lot of bass while I was there fishing from the shore at our resort. I stayed at the Grand Cypress Golf Resort in Orlando FL. It borders the Disney property, and has a lake that wraps around the villa's that you stay in. All the villa's have fishable water outside that have some 10 pounders in them. I asked for the best fishing spot, and they gave it to me. I heard they had tackle there, but I decided to not take any chances and brought my own. I also wanted to bring my own rod, so I got 36 inch rod tube from Cabellas. Sadly, this tube did not even really fit the crappy Mitchel rod and reel combo I bought because it was the only 6 ft rod medium rod I could find at really short notice. Next time I'll buy the bigger tube and bring my 6'6 medium heavy rod, but anyway, live and learn. By the way, bringing the rod was a piece of cake. They just put in in the overhead, and our flight was packed full. So we flew in Thursday night and did not arrive until after midnight. I immediately put my rod together and tied on my heddon torpedo. I only made about 10 casts, but I did not get any strikes. This was the view from the room: got up at 7:30am and tied on a 5" green pumpkin senko, and caught a nice 3 pounder on my second cast (which I ran into the room and showed my wife who was still sleeping ) Then the trouble began. I started hooking into lunkers with my rod that I discovered did not have nearly the backbone needed to land some of the bigger fish. I must have had 4-5 fish 6 pounds or more throw my hook because I could not set the hook as solidly as I wanted to and keep as much pressure on the fish that I needed to. It was frustrating, but I was having so much fun I almost (emphasize almost) did not care. Here's the 4.5 pounder (guessing, looked bigger) I did land that afternoon: Caught fish on almost everything I bought. Probably at least 6-7 nice ones landed per day, and another 4-5 the first day that I lost. Here's a quick list: 5" Grn Pumpkin w/blk flk Senko 4" watermelon senko w/ blk flake KVD sexy shad hvy cvr swim jig with GY grn pumpkin crawdad trailer (biggest fish) White double bladed spinnerbait GYCB in green pumpkin black flake Fat Ika in green pumpkin (most fish overall) If anyone wants info, just PM me and I'll let you know what villa to stay in.
  16. Thanks guys. I'm grateful for the help!! and if anyone who lives in Orlando wants to take Friday off or Saturday and go fishing, I'll PM you my cell number.
  17. Wow 48 views and only one reply. :-? Thanks George. I appreciate your help.
  18. Hi everyone. I live up in NH and I'm heading to the Grand Cypress Villas in Orlando for a charity golf tournament and benefit concert this thursday. Instead of golfing, I'd like to do some fishing. Grand Cypress has a private 25 acre lake which has free fishing (Lake Windsong), but I'm a little worried about what they are going to have for tackle, fishing pressure, etc... Does anyone have any good ideas on a guide on Lake Toho or something else close to where I am staying? Any other general advice is welcome as I've never gotten a guide anywhere before. Thank you!
  19. Yeah, I'm originally from North Conway, so I'm used to the sight of the ice house city on Center Harbor during the winter. It does make me wanna get out there.
  20. So, I'm going to be in Orlando on 2/26-3/1 and where in the spawn do people think the fish will be? Thanks!
  21. you know something donmac, you are absolutely correct. I really need to learn how to ice fish. I have 3 traps, a lake almost across the street, and a huge desire to catch some fish. I have some friends that kind of know how to ice fish, but I was not really impressed when we went last year so I did not get turned onto it. Thankfully I'm going to Orlando for a couple days at the end of the month and the resort has free fishing on private property. That will help for a little bit anyway.
  22. Well, at least february is here and we are a little closer to spring. Anyone else watching bass fishing shows and having a hard time not buying every bait they catch big bass on? ;-)
  23. I'm interested. I live in NH and always have wanted to fish Umbagog..
  24. I'm game, and I have a few friends that would be in as well. Also, my better half is an excellent cook. I like the idea of having food ready when we get back. Lets do it!
  25. for the most part, everything is frozen over. In fact, saw my first two ice fisherman yesterday. They may want to wait until that ice is thick enough....
