  1. I second that emotion. From what I've heard, Ossippe can be a really tough lake to fish even during peak hours, so I would not feel too bad about not catching them at night there. Add to that the weird weather and the cold nights up there, and I'd pat yourself on the back for catching anything.
  2. Nice work!!! That's a beauty.
  3. I'd say golden shiners are a good bet. a lot of the places I fish have a decent amount of bluegill and perch as well.
  4. not to butt in, but....It just helps hold the senko on. The EWG's work just as good. I use both, but prefer the EWG.
  5. That's really interesting. I caught a 6 pound 12 oz in NH this year, and I thought she must be around 10-12 years old. Here's a pic if I can be a bit of a showofff:
  6. I fish in the Hillsboro/Henniker/Washington area. There's a lot of smallie places, and a few good largemouth ponds. I'm mostly fish for smallies, but yesterday I went to Upper Pond in Henniker (only my second visit ever). It's a pain in the butt to get on, and it's not very big, but there are some decent fish in there. The 2 pictured about were 3 pounds 2 oz and 3 pound 6 oz, both caught from the exact same area with about an hour in between. It's really dark water with a LOT of lily pads. The fish were really dark colored. I did get out this AM from about 8:30am-12:00pm. I caught 4 smallies, 2 of which were about 2 2.5 pounds. All were caught on a Yum lizard on an 1/8th oz jig head fished around deep structure.
  7. I got out this afternoon from 11am-3pm. Caught about 10 bass, with 3 of them being between 3-4 pounds. A ton of pickeral as well. Most everything on senkos tossed along the weedline. pics to come.
  8. That's where I grew up, but we mostly fished for trout back then. Ossipee is really clear water, but that's not going to matter in the dark. I'd go with big dark colored senkos, big black spinnerbaits and a Heddon Torpedo in any color. Also, I'd used an XRAP or something like it fora a crankbait/jerkbait. I'd think you would want a little sound to go with the action so they can locate it in the dark. And of course, never forget your Jitterbug...any color as long as it's black. Smallies LOVE them.
  9. I got out as well this weekend. On Friday and on Sunday. Did really well on Friday. The bite was pretty good all day...catching a lot of 2-3 pounders, but nothing huge. Mostly on senkos and yum dingers On Sunday morning we went smallie fishing and it was a really slow bite, and super windy. I finally started catching them around 10:00am on a GYCB baby lizard on a 1/8 oz jig head fished around dropoffs. Hopefully I can get out this week after work some nights. good luck everyone!
  10. Just got your message wagn. That's a bummer, but hopefully we can reschedule.
  11. sounds good. We'll be there around 6:30-6:45am the latest.
  12. Nice Fish! I got out yesterday as well. Caught a bunch of smallmouth, 3 of which were around 2 pound 9 ozs. Only fished from 7:00am until 1:00pm, but it was a gorgeous day and the sun felt great. I'll post some pics later. All fish were caught on old senkos (one on a creature bait) from last year that I had left lying around. I almost think they work bettter the more beat up they are! It's also funny because I could not ge a bite on anything but a senko. I even threw a 4 " and 3" sticko at them, and they would only eat my senko. weird.
  13. Hey wagn, are we meeting at the launch at 7:00am, or should be be there earlier so we all can launch and be leaving the launch by 7:00am? See everyone in the AM!
  14. and it's only required if your boat is over 25 hp
  15. Me and my buddy Matt are psyched as well. This will be my first tourney ever and I'm excited for it! It's been a while since we saw each other wagn...it'll be good to see you and meet the rest of the folks here. We can also bring whatever is needed. Maybe we should make a list so we do not have 100 bags of chips and no soda or something like that...although I'm sure wagn already has some stuff. I'll start (edited to add stuff wagn does not have already) : Jaystraw and Matt - dessert stuff-brownies or something.
  16. I got out yesterday as well. Hit up a local smallie spot. Did prettty well. Caught 5 smallies (2 were around 2-2.5 pounds) and a couple pickeral fishing from 6:30am-11:00am. It was a little slow, and the wind was reallly blowing me around. I finally left because whitecaps were starting to form on the lake, and that's just too much for the canoe. I'm gonna head out tonight. Good luck everyone. Hope you had a good fourth. Edited to add: Went out yesterday and it was such a nice day. Barely any wind at all, and the sun was HOT on the water. No that I'm complaining! Caught a lot of fish, but nothing too big. Biggest erer a couple 3.3 pound largemouths. Good day, but the fising was a litttle slower than I expected. Caught fish on all sorts of plastics. Biggest on a GYCB 4" lizard out of a tree.
  17. NIce fish! I'm gonna have to get out there soon..it so close to my house.
  18. Me and a friend went out smallie fishing last night. Not a lot of action, but I did land a nice 2.5 pound smallie and this 2 pound 7 oz Brown Trout on a BPS sticko! My first Brown Trout ever, and she did go back in the water and swam off just fine. Went out today to Pleasant Pond in Henniker and did pretty well. Nothing over 2.5 pounds, but pretty good action all morning until the storms came. Have a good weekend everyone!
  19. I'm pretty sure that fish is bigger than him. He had good reason to be scared. Nice job!!!!
  20. Nice job guys! I've been to Pleasant Pond (actually wagn and I went there near the end of the year two years ago). I've had great days there, and then not so great days. That's fishing I guess. :-) Got out today myself and caught smallies in all modes of spawn...some on beds and some in post spawn mode. crazy day.
  21. The rain seems to be pushing the fish a lot shallower thn usual where I've been fishing.
  22. yeah their LC collection is outta this world. The only other good tacke shop I go to is Village Discount in Hillsboro. It's got a really good selection for a local shop, but not a lot in the way of crankbaits. I go to Dicks for any Rapalas I need.
  23. I think I caught around 6-8 bass between 6:30am and 9:00am. Pretty good for a short trip, but nothing big except that giant. My buddy and I wernt out two nights ago and had a great trip. Big smllies were hitting topwater and senkos. Here's a pic of the three pounder I caught:
  24. yup, that's exactly where I was. Right place at the right time, and toss in a little luck as well.
