  1. I'm in central NH and had a great weekend last weekend. With the really cold nights, and fairly cold days we have had since, I think it means it's gonna be tough fishing. I'm hanging it up until ice in, and then we will see what's happening. Good luck.
  2. That is a great idea wagn. I'm game. I think I'm also done for the year. It's cold, the water has gotten colder, and I think it's time to wait for ice fishing. Have a good winter everyone.
  3. I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person on this board in NH still fishing! Went out again on Sunday. Caught a ton of fish. All were caught on the exact same watermelon senko all day long. It was cold, and the water was pretty cold (guessing 50 degress), but the fish were still hitting the senko. Most were near trees in the water. Here is my big fish of the day. A 3 LB 5 oz beauty:
  4. went out on Tuesday for a few hours without any luck. I saw one fish rise near me and threw a senko at it, it bit, but came off a few seconds later. Water temps are really cold. May be time to hang it up for the year. :-[ edit: I'm schizo. Went out Friday to a small pond in Newbury because it's been so warm. The LM's were back in the shallow water to about 10 feet offshore. I caught 8 smaller LM's (all 1.5 pounds or less) in about 4 hours. A few on the sticko, a few on the perch husky jerk, one on a zara puppy, and one on a jig. As you can tell, I was throwing the kichen sink at them. The bite was really on earlier in the day, but died off around 2:30pm. It was great to get out there and catch some fish in November. I'm gonna head out Sunday and see what else is going on. I feel a littel weird still driving around with the canoe on my car, but if they are biting, I'm gonna fish.
  5. I encountered turnover the other day and the only thing I got them to bite on was a small green pumpkin jig with a GY crawdad trailer. I'm not very experienced with a jig, but it seemd to do the trick. They were hitting it during a pause on a slow retrive. I caught 20+ fish there last week, and only 3 on Friday. It was tough.
  6. yeah, fish slow. Finesse baits, and/or suspending jerkbaits fished slowly near cover. Look for what's left of the weeds and start there. If nothing, go deeper if you've got the equipment. I went out yesterday and caught a couple LM's and a pickeral on a jig, but the bite was SLOW. Water temps must be hittng the high 40's now.
  7. In NH all the water is public, but the land around it could be privately owned. There is no such thing as a private lake, but there might not be pubilc access to any given body of water. I'm not sure what it's like where you live, but I would talk to them and let them know they are parking on private property and a landowner may have them towed while they are out having fun. If they come back and park on private property, get them towed and I doubt they would return after that.
  8. What a beautiful day it was for fishing today! wagn and I got out on the river today for a few hours. Water temps were in the low 50's, and the water was very dark. Almost no visability below a foot or so. Maybe less than that. wagn caught 4 fish, and I caught one. Nothing huge was caught, and the bite was very slow, but it was sure a nice day to get out there! I forgot to mention wagn caught a fish on the jig and on watermelon senkos for the others. All near cover of some sort pretty cloose to shore. Thanks wagn! Here's my HUGE 2 pounder. lol!
  9. I've changed my mind, I'm fishing until it's ice. I went out today and caught about 20 LM's, and a big pickeral Some were dinks, but most were in the 1-2 pound range, and one that looked like she was 4-5 pounds came off a little ways from the boat. That was painful. All of the fish were caught on bass pro shop 4 1/4 " green pumpkin stickos.st off the shore. Some were in what's left of the pads, but most were under brush or near rocks near the shore. I could not get them to bite anything else, but they LOVED the stickos. Here is one of them. Keep at it everyone!
  10. It's always a pleasure to fish with an angler such as yourself wagn! Thanks for taking me out earlier in the year. We will have to try and get out more next year. I think I'm about to hang it up until ice fishing as well, but I may have one or two more short day trips in me.
  11. Nice going wagn! I only got out on Tuesday for a half day this week. Good day. Caught 5 decent 2 pound smallies, a bunch of 2-3 pound pickeral, and a nice 2 pound LM. All were caught on senkos. I could not buy a bite on crankbaits or anything else. Looks like it's gonna be real cold this weekend at night...good luck y'all!
  12. wow...beautiful fish! Makes me want to relocate from NH.
  13. weird, I posted earlier, but it's not here..... I went out Friday and caught a couple 2 pound smallies. very slow fishing overall, and not what I expected. Pretty much what wagn said..senkos near weeds or tree cover seemed to be the only thing working. gonna try today. good luck all! edited to add: went out today at a little pond in Newbury and did great! LM's were plentiful and caught on senkos and suspending jerkbaits. Lost my LC pointer in a tree, but the Live Pointer was a great backup. Great day, nothing really big, but a ton of fish. Most were either just off the bank, or 5 feet off the bank in about 5-6 feet of water
  14. Thanks guys! It was my first fish over 4 pounds this year. I was so happy when the scale hit 5.0 Good luck everyone!
  15. I'm with wagn! The fishing has been a little slow in the Am, but picks up. I've been fishing pretty slow, and it's paying off. Numerous ish in the 2-3 pound range, and this 5.0 pound hog from yesterday. Caught her on a senko under some lily pad adjacent to deeper water.
  16. Caught this fish yesterday about 20 feet offshore, under the branches of a really tall pine tree, on a senko. I really thoguht it was going to weight more, but I'll never turn down a 2.5 pound smallie. Great afternoon with senkos, tubes and a new one...YUM's Gonzo Grub (looks like a GYCB 2tail hula grub). No luck on crankbaits (except for one tiny fish) or spinners. Looks like a crappy weekend, but good luck to any that brave the weather.
  17. I went out this past week a couple times. Seems like the average fish (largemouth only these trips) has gotten bigger, and I had a lot of luck on crankbaits (Lucky Craft Pointer in "brownie"). It's the first time since the early spring that I've had much luck on them, and the first time I've caught a lot of fish on this one. Mosty in the 1-3 pound range. Senkos and Bass Pro Shops Stickos also worked really well. Most of the fish were in 5-10 feet of water, usually near cover of some sort. Fish seemed to be most active after the sun had warmed the water (and me) up a bit.
  18. Beautiful fish wagn!! Looks like she's been fighting with something equally tough! What did you catch her on??
  19. Nice fish everyone!! It does seem like the bigger fish have already started to move shallow again. I've caught numerous SM and LM bass right around 3 LBs..sure was nice to feel that again after a month of a lot of fish around 1-2 pounds. Here's a couple pics: Most of my fish have been caught on senkos near rocks in the water...some on a creature bait. I've also been having some good topwater action with the Jitterbug in the middle of the day.
  20. I've been out a buch overthe last week or so. Hit up Gile Pond in Sutton (few larry's but nothing really big) and Post Pond in Orford (tough fishing, but my buddy caught a nice 3 pound smallie). Hit up another smallie spot on Sunday. Pretty good fishing with lots of smallies. The wierdest thing was that the smallies were still near the beds!!! They were not still spawning, but guarding their young. Seems like the big fish have moved deep. Time to hit the deep water structure.
  21. I think she weighed 2 pounds even. I thought about bringing her home but I decided to let her get bigger for next year. Thanks everyone!! I thought she was big, but I never fish for crappie up her in NH.
  22. I agree with that. I think I'll downsize the weight though. It's great because its the perfect use for my senkos that get too beat up to t-rig anymore. And, one reason I never fish wacky style it because you lose so many senkos. I love it when a plan comes together. 8-)
  23. Caught this crappie a month or two ago and thought it was pretty big for a crappie. It was caught trolling a black jitterbug at Hopkinton Lake in NH.
