  1. Hey everyone, I've been back to fishing after a little 2 week break. Been doing well on senkos, and I tried something new and weird yesterday. I rigged a senko wacky style on a 3/8th oz. football head jig. I had read about it in this months In-Fisherman, and I decided to give it a shot to fish deeper water. From what I read, I was not using the right type of worm or jig head, but it still worked really well. I caught numerous 2.5-3 pound smallies in the early afternoon, with dead calm water, and a little cloud cover, in deep water offf the shore about 20-30 feet. I'm going try and work C-rigging this weekend, but wacky-jigging is my new favorite style!
  2. I've never heard of Musky in there, but I've also never fished it. Good luck...I've always wanted to hit it up.
  3. NICE FISH wagn!!!!! It looks smaller in the body, but you can tell she has a bucketmouth!! Nice job! I went out and have done well last ngiht and this AM. Lots of Largemouths and smallmouths on senkos and other plastics off of cover in deep and shallow water.
  4. It's nice to see a lot of folks getting out there! I've been kind of slacking on fishing. I went out the weekend of the 4th, but the tourists had taken the quiet out of ALL the spots I like to fish. I decided to take a little break for a couple weeks. But, I got out Sunday 6AM on Gould Pond and did well. Caught 6 LM's in about 3 hours...all off of cover of some sort. got blown off by 9:00am due to the wind, but it was nice to just be out catching...even with the 2 other boats out there (trout fishing).
  5. I'll tell you what I would NOT buy...The lucky craft Live Pointer. I've caught a total of 1 bass on it...and it looks awesome in the water. I have the same luck with Xraps, and they are a whole lot cheaper.
  6. GYCB
  7. LOL! 3 words...Trilene Sensation SUCKS!! That stuff gets abrasions from a strong wind! I checked and it's a new formula since the stuff last year. Maybe that's the diff? Either way it was a lot of fun catching (even if they did not always get into the boat) with wagn! Good times.
  8. went out last night and fished from 7pm-12AM. and did great. Lots of good sized LMs on senkos prior to the sun going down, and then hula poppers and Pop_R's ruled. Lots of topwater post spawn action. Good times!
  9. I live far away from Brentwood, but I would head over to Northern Bass Supply and see what they have to say. You live just down the road from there.
  10. I've gotten out a few times the past week and done pretty well wit hte smallmouth. They are in spawn right now, shallow and really aggressive. They seem to be hittting senkos, creature baits, and my new favorite bait, the Flappin' Hog.
  11. Yeah, I taught myself the through the gill trick and it's really easy and it works very well. Takes some practice, but it's not that hard at all.
  12. Maybe there is something closer to you in here: http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/Fishing_PDFs/FW_Fishing_Guide.pdf
  13. I think the Exeter River is supposed to hold a good amount of bass. I would do yourserlf a favor and pick up Clarks NH Fishing Guide. Also, the fish and game website had some cool shore fishing spots in Manchster/Nashua which is only a short drive from where you are. Here is a link: http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fishing/Fishing_PDFs/Manch_Nashua_fishing_guide.pdf
  14. That is great wagn!!!! Awesome!!!!! I'd say the LM's are ready to spawn in most places and the smallies are fully into it. Good luck on senkos, creature baits and a lot of plastics.
  15. Green Pumpkin is the color I have the most success with.
  16. Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are just holding in some of the deeper structure in the lake during the summer. I fish a pond in VT where most of the smallies sit in a deep pool where 2 rivers converge and fill the pond. The smallies hang out 20-30 feet deep in this pool all summer.
  17. I've been on vacation this week, and have been fishing all day every day. It has been great. I've been to Black Pond in Windsor, Upper Pond in Henniker, Halfmoon Pond in Washington and a few others. All of them produced nice big bass, with one of them being 4 pounds. My buddy caught a 4 pound 14 oz LM yesterday on a black YUM vbibra tube. I've seen and caught more bass this past week than I ever have before. I've consistantly been pulling in fish over 2-3 pounds. All the big ones had red on their tail, and were deep in stumps or trees or lilly pads. Most of the smallmouth seem about done with spawn with the LM's seem to be just getting into it. Here are some pictures from the past week: 4lb 14oz 4lbs
  18. I had a pretty good weekend of fishing. I went all three days and caught a lot of fish. The biggest was about 3 pounds..no monsters, but steady. Most of my fish were caught on senkos, and a couple on the F-11. I went to Black Pond today in Windsor and did very well. A good amount of really nice and fat LM's even with the wind pushing me around pretty good. All the fish I caught had a lot of red on their tail....spawing sign or something?
  19. not off the top of my head, but there must be a lot of stuff in the Lakes Region near Lake Winnipesaukee. wagn and I got out for a few hours of drew Lake yesterday. wagn caught 3 really nice and fat LM's, and a few big pickeral. He caught them on spinners and senkos near rocks or tree stumps in the water. I caught 2 big pickeral on my heddon torpedo. Topwater is nice, but it would have been nicer if it was a bass!
  20. I just started using the Yozuri-Hybrid 12lb test, and it is a lot more manageable than fluro, but it has much more visiblity than fluro. If you get it, you should know the 8lb test is approx. strong as normal 10-12 lb mono, plus it will cut down on diamater size. I got the 12lb, and I wish I got the 8lb, but I still like it. It's difficult to get used to a new type of line (I prefer mono), but I'm sure I'll be happy in the grass this summer.
  21. ...snap-set/ quick-set... This will improve your hook-up percentage dramatically. 8-)
  22. Nice fish. Wilton Reservioir? Anyone else seeing bass on the beds yet? What's the status in your area?
  23. I was pretty new to bass fishing last year, and I found the color of the senko really mattered. I almost always, unless I'm in stained water, t-rig a 4'' green pumpkin with black flake senko. It's a proven fish catcher. As far a s the hook-set goes, I usually cast, and let my senko fall to the bottom. If I see the line stop falling before I think it should have hit the bottom, I slowly raise my rod tip and see if there is any resistance at the other end of the line. If there is, I dr0p my rod tip, reel a few times, and raise the tip again sharply, setting the hook. You may catch some trees too, but it's worth the 6 pounder you will soon catch. Another go-to bait for me is the Rapala F-11 in silver. You can just cast it out under an overhanging tree or near wood cover in the water, and just twitch the line while it rests on the water's surface. Maybe reel it in a few feet, and pause for a few seconds, repeat. Just wait for the strike, and it will come I hope you have luck soon! Lot's of good advice, and it will click eventually.
  24. Had a great weekend this weekend. Most fish were shallow in wood cover yesterday, but today there were fish on beds. No eggs, but both males and females hanging around them. I had good luck on senkos, Rapala f-11 and torpedos. ..also on some black plastic lizards. Good weekend!
  25. Have fun on the Connecticut River!! That's a great fishery that I need to fish a lot more.
