Finesse Jig

Featured Replies

I have a few finesse jigs in various colors but don't know how to use them. Do you use a trailer and if so what kind. Do you just use it like a shaky head?

I use a trailer on my finesse jigs but unlike bigger jigs the trailer really has to be balanced as too heavy or bulky platstic will make the jig useless. Here is a pic of a finesse jig I'm making and I've been doing fantastic with it, this one is a 1/8oz head but I will use 3/16oz and 1/4oz depending on how deep I'm using them or wheter there is current or not. I alike using them the best in shallow water around lay downs, places that hold fish but the skinny water makes the fish a little spooky, places like that are perfect for finesse jig and so are docks. A lot of people make a few casts to docks with a worm or regular jig and don't get bit and just move on but sometimes the fish don't want a big offering and you can go back and use the finesse jig and clean house, they are always on a rod when I go out.

You can use anything you like for a trailer on a finesse jig. I prefer to use Berkley Chigger Chunks on my finesse jigs.

I use a Paca Chunk.

I like finesse worms on the back of mine.

Below is the tail of a Rage Shrimp cut down to utilize as a trailer... It's made from Elaztech plastic and extremely durable. I will use a Baby Rage Craw if I need a slightly larger presentation. If you want the clip inst. on the Shrimp, let me know...

That looks killer, I would love to know how much you cut off and details!

Here you go. You can see the clips required, adjust length as needed and hope this helps!

3" Chigger craws or paca chunk work great!

I couldnt agree more with the 3'' chigger craw! my #1 craw for smaller jigs, fairly inexpensive too!
