Well I've been on the fence about going this year. But 00Mod knocked me off. So I'm going.

Mike, I'm bringing my boat and Jeff has at least one day with me. Other than that I have an open seat and I'd like to enter the draw every evening.

Pickwick, here I come.  This may be my last post for awhile.  I'm outta here in a half hour, and plan to be on the lake Thursday morning, maybe even Wednesday afternoon, but that's a long shot.   I'

Ahhhh, memories.  Three years ago, on my way to Pickwick.

Stopped for the night in Bristol, TN.  Thought I'd have a five hour drive on Friday morning.  Big mistake.

It was a nine plus hour drive.  Who'd a thunk I left myself with a nearly 600 mile drive.

Here's my rig, parked for the night in Bristol, TN, pointed toward Pickwick.  May 2010

Memories.

This year there will be two changes.  A different boat, and no canoe.

Anticipation.

Woot Woot!  Larry's in the house!

Some of you might remember Larry was with us at the Kentucky lake RoadTrip, and proceeded to catch from the shore more fish than any of us from a boat!

.....he was also a groomsman in my wedding, and a long-time fishin' buddy.  So if you want to dig up any dirt on me....  Oops!  Did I say that in my outloud voice?

Alotta Dirt!!!!!

Well, this has been a remarkable year. More double digit bass have been caught since last October

than the combined total in the history of the lake! Pickwick has never been considered a "big bass"

lake. On the otherhand, if we're talkin' 'bout smalljaws, this is a "HUGE BASS" river system.

In addition to some size, the lake produces big numbers on occasion. My best day ever was with

WMD on the 2010 RoadTrip: 78 one day! The following day we didn't have quite the numbers, but

both of us scored numerous 5lb+ fish. BTW, we weren't even in contention with Big O and the soldiers:

144 smallmouth during the worst storm you can imagine and two PBs!

Yea RW, that was the best day of fishing I have ever had... I will never forget it.

Here is a sample of Pickwick's beauties.  It was caught February 14, 2013

I'll be looking for a cabin roomate for sure but it's still sketchy as to if I can make it.

I clicked on the form to get it printed out and mailed in. But the link did not work? Going to be rough, as were in East Tn 6 days then drag in home. Sunday or Monday and just set up there. No reason to bring the camper home when I'm passing by there on the way home.

Will have my boat guessing an extra seat. Be camping below the dam in the campground.

I wouldn't mind coming but fear it's way too late to make any arrangements. Maybe I'll be more prepared next year.

It's not too late at all.  We have cabins and lodge rooms blocked for our group.  They will not be released to the general public until 30 days before the event.  Come join us!

I second that motion.

Form is in the mail box.  I do have an empty seat in my boat, but it is a small boat, 16x48.  Also, I do not want to sound like a tea totaler, but I don't drink alcohol on my boat and would prefer that you didn't either.  I drink, but at the camp site or room, not out on the river.

The same applies to my boat, as I suspect it does to many others.   BTW it's a lake, not a river, sorta.

Our whole club is that way...we camp for a reason...to celebrate the fishing day!!

Me three.  I don't drink, but if something happens to me, I want someone who is totally sober to take the wheel.  The "captain/owner" is responsible for his vessel, and those on it.

Is there anyone from the Western PA area going that may need to share a ride and lodging?
