Backyard Bass W/3Yo Son

Featured Replies

Its been raining all day here, but I was able to get out to the backyard to do a little bass fishing with my 3yo son, Adam. We weren't having much success and were about to give up, but I made my last cast and hooked up a nice bass on a Spro frog soon after splash down, I gave Adam the rod after the initial hook-set and he did the rest of the work, He was so excited when he finally got it to the shore that he kept say he caught a big TI_LA_PI_TA, because that is usually what he catches using dough balls.

Killer pic, Robert. Heck of a bass for the lil dude. He's gotten big!

Pics like that are just another reason why I love living down here....outside of the rain today. What a freakin monsoon that rolled through.

Thanks for the heart felt reply fellas!

I do stock the canal/pond system and have multiple feeders throughout the canal system, I have persuaded some neighbors to put some feeders up to help with the fishery. I have released 100s of bass and bluegill into the system. Its a pretty good fishery, but with over 7 miles of surface area it is not really manageable for me, more like fun. I love it because I can take Adam out in the backyard and catch bluegills and tilapia until he gets bored of catching and the convenience of having a jon boat ready to go whenever I get that itch to do some catching is pretty awesome.

Awesome, bro. Soon he'll be a spro master like the ol man.

Adam has now done something you and I will never do...catch a bass bigger than his age.

nice robert. won't be long until he is waking you up saying "let's go fishing dad". love it.

I have had him catching fish since about 2 in the backyard so he hasn't had an issue, yet! He use to pick up grasshoppers until he brought one in and showed it to mom and her friend, they all freaked out jumping and yelling and have ruined him, kid is now deathly afraid of them, still trying to get that "mom" caused phobia out of his system.

Good fish for the little man.

What a great pic! You got him to hold a fish, and smile. My kids will never do both at the same time. Very cool man
