I just got some 50 lb braid for my baitcaster, and I'm having the toughest time cutting it! I've tried scissors, but those are even having a tough time cutting through the braid. Is there a tool that specializes in cutting braid? What do you guys use?

I have an older pair of XTools floating pliers with a carbide cutter that does a great job on braid. Nice and clean. They absolutely suck as pliers, though.

I have a pair of Gerbers with a knife on em.

Bass Pro and others sell braid sissors for cutting high tech braid lines. They work, but do wear out over time. Fortunately, they are not expensive.

I bought one of these called the snip,small and works GREAT! It can cut right down to hook eye. Only $15.

Hey, you don't need to buy braid scissors or anything special. Fiskars kid scissors at Walmart work great. I happen to have some medical scissors from an old Army medical kit I picked up at a gun show once. By far the best braid cutter I've ever used. Like buttah!

They're now with me fishing at all times on a retractable lanyard on my kayak fishing PDF.

Nail clippers work pretty well. Takes up less space in my pocket too, compared to a pair of scissors (which is what I used to use to cut any kind of line)

Sharp knife, braid scissors, either or. Here is a good tip: after the knot is tied, the tag end that is left, I use a lighter to burn the end so the line does not frey.

The only scissors Ive found that keep an edge for braid in the long term are a pair of crafting scissors available at chinamart or scrapbook stores called a Cutter Bee. Small light and stays sharp for years.

Fiskers or any pliers with titanium cutters. In the field i use a bic or cigaret, which as mentioned keeps the line from fraying and put a nib on the end, helps in preventing pull thru.

Nail clippers are the best cut stuff with. You can get flush with the eye and don't leave the knot still stuck sometimes. Eventually they wear out but you can get junk ones for like $.99 at the check out counter. Needle nose work great also for cutting line and you can take out hooks.

I just use a razor knife.

You need to apply a little tension to the line to get a nice clean cut. I've used the so called braid scissors. Waste of cash. Just grab an extra pair or two of Fiskars child scissors next time you're at the store. Cheap, and very effective. The best ones I've ever had are these stainless scissors my father was able to get through AT&T. Wish I could buy more of them in a store. Do everything from stripping and cutting wire to cutting any fishing line imaginable. Fantastic tool.

KISS, scissors, just pull the braid tight when you cut it.

Either toenail clippers or Klein scissors. Don't know that Klein are better than any other scissor for this application, I just happen to have a few pair

Another vote for the Fiskars Kid Scissors, they even have a cap that the scissors slide into, you can put them in your pocket.

Im telling you its no gimmick you will love it! Ive since ordered 2 more! I put one connected to my tackle bag and one on the pole to my fishing seat! Cord comes out about 3ft? Gives you a clean cut every time, will even cut through knots. My partner seen mine and didn't think much of it, after a days use he bought him one. The lil serrated blades stay sharp!
